EDIT: Urbz Goes After After Chad Lindsay for Betterment of Ohio Football
Urban is not my favorite coach. Jeremy Fowler reports Lindsay has added OSU (and uhh...Cal) to his visit list. On the plus side it sounds like the wait for his decision will end by end of April.
The former Alabama center, who started four games a year ago, says via text he's visiting Ohio State and Cal this week.
Frank is Urban. Urban is Frank.
Was settled when Lindsay put Louisville on his list.
Rumor is that he's also being recruited to play forward for Thad Matta.
What a piece of shit.
General perspective is something you should work on...

Not Urban's fault we put ourselves in a position to be dependent on a grad transfer.
I hate Urban as much as the next guy, but based on what I've read he's doing this because he needs a lineman, not to screw with Michigan. This is a good thing - OSU's line has depth issues too.

LOL...smart move by Urban in all honesty. We saw their OL on saturday and it's safe to say both Michigan and OSU need major help in that department.
While it seems like a low blow it is a legit guy that urban needs as bad as Hoke does.
Lindsay will pick the school which offers (guarantees) him the best chance of starting. If he picks OSU over Michigan, that's a tacit admission that in his estimation Michigan already has the better line. Of course that holds true for all four schools in the mix.
I would think that his relationship with Nuss would play a big role too. If he had a great relationship with his OC, that would be a huge plus, particularly since he knows all the terminology, etc., and can hit the ground running in summer camp. So unless he is indifferent towards Nuss, that would be a big plus in our direction.

Would it though? If I remember last year's bitch-a-thon about the offense correctly I was told that organizationally Funk doesnt report to the OC - he reports to Hoke. So while he'd be playing in Nuss's offense, he'd be coached by Funk.
And I'm not entirely sure that's as thrilling for a top-shelf player as we'd like it to be.
Maybe not a top shelf guy, but how about for a back up?
Does Funk report to Hoke, because every coach reports to Hoke and GMat and Nuss have no reports (which is fine and a common org structure) or does Funk specifically report to Hoke, but other offensive coaches (e.g. Fred Jackson) report to Nuss?
He might also take into consideration the likelihood of playing on a championship team.
Outside of Ann Arbor, the rest of the world sees OSU going undefeated during two straight regular season campaigns being led by a guy with one of the best overall records in coaching history, including two national championships.
The record here in Ann Arbor during that time has been far less impressive. Whether playing for his former OC will make up the difference is the question.
Of course, that doesn't explain his interest in Cal.
Sam Webb has talked about there being a family connection with Cal. Chad Lindsay's father played at Mississippi State when Sonny Dykes's father, Spike Dykes, was an assistant there.
Or it is just a really nice place to visit in mid April while you make a decision. I'd be headed to USC, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona State, Arizona, and Pepperdine ;) if it was me.
Thanks for the reminder about that... I'd heard Sam mention it last week, but forgot.
Spike Dykes sounds like a character on Archer.

Sounds painful.
Not to mention that there are still fans in A2 who still "know" that "the spread won't work in the Big Ten."
How dare he also try to recruit an available player to fit one of his needs!
I know people don't like Meyer and there are a litany of reasons, but "trying to recruits kids" strikes me as pretty low on the dickishness scale.
But what do I know???
(One thing I do know is that Lindsay must feel like a DAMN KING right now. Everybody wants him).
the greater the ego boost. Also the greater potential for scratch in what may well have become quite a bidding war.
That the boosters at OSU are more generous than the boosters at Alabama.
Officially it's the bag men. Boosters aren't allowed to give players money.
Schools recruit the same people all the time. Michigan and Ohio State recruit the same kids all the time. This is a complete non-issue
Not about the fact that he lost 4 of his starting 5 offensive linemen to graduation, all of whom played a significant amount of time together.
Title fixed. Butthurt level towards Urbz adjusted down from level 5 to level 3.

Seems a bit heavy to knock ohio for going after Lindsay. It's like team A putting a claim on a player put on waivers so that rival team B can't get him. gamesmanship in a different form. ohio maintains a competitive advantage over us if a) they get better or b) we don't. that doesn't take into account that he lost senior starters on the OL and probably needs the help.
I presume it gets to game theory eventually, assuming the sole reason to pursue Lindsay was to spite UM and put him on the bench. You can only pull that move so many times before it negatively impacts your reputation down the line and for potential future moves (or so i'd hope/expect).
then Lindsay may go with the school that has a better chance to win more games in 2014! That is where Michigan could lose out. However, the Nuss factor may win out. A former player, playing in his system will mean a better chance to be a top center in the B1G. That's what I'm hoping Lindsay will decide. However, if he wants more wins he will probably go with OSU.

Smart move by Urban. Get some more Depth at a position of need and some free insights into Michigan's new offense. He would be dumb not to recruit Linday.
