Random and I don't have enough points to start a topic, but did anyone see that Floyd Mayweather has bet 3 million dollars for the game on Saturday? He's got a lot of problems, but money aint one of em.

Whenever I come across a new piece of sports related to Michigan I assume it's already on MGoBlog. I'm right 99% of the time.... scratch that, 99% of everything I find out about UM is because I read it here first.

So, I'm on a train to DC, so i figured i'd post this here...

I keep hearing "Michigan is hoping this game against Alabama will help restore them to national prominence..."

In all reality, last year was a more successful season in many ways than any year I experienced as a student at michigan (2002 season through 2005 season). Yes, we went to a couple of rose bowls, but came up short.  Last year's team actually won a BCS bowl game.  Didn't last year's team already establish that Michigan is back?

You're right, must be the goose islands i had before hopping on the train.  But, in all seriousness, I find that statement absolutely annoying, figured I'd throw the challenge flag on that statement.  Or at least get others to think about it and provide their opinion.

Poor Minnesota.  They try to schedule a game on a Thursday to gain a little exposure, and they get buried in this timeslot on a channel a lot of people don't get.

Can you imagine how much it would suck if our game were on right now, and might not end until after 2:00 a.m. on a weeknight?  Thank goodness we're an A-list football program.

They were too a long time ago. Before 1935, Michigan's season finale was against minnesota because that was THE rivalry. The teams were so good.

But then, loads of horrible hires ruined their program and they've been wandering the wilderness for nearly 60 years.

They did have one good hire - Glen Mason.  They never, ever should have let him go.  He gave that program an identity and got them into bowl games on an annual basis.  And that was when they were still playing in the Metrodome.  With their new stadium he might have been able to step it up in recruiting.  He should still be on their sidelines.

This, this, a thousand times this.  Last year on the metro, while Gopherquest was still very much alive, I actually saw a Minnesota fan still wearing a "Fire Mason" T-shirt.  I couldn't believe he still thought that was a good move.  That really has to go down in history as one of the worst hiring/firing decisions of all time.

Ok, of course not, that's ludicrous. The coverage is pretty ugly though.

Also - is MN offense looking good, or UNLV defense that bad? I'm leaning towards the latter, because, obviously, gophers. Could have potential though.

like I expected but I do not see them making any noise in the B10 this year. I do hope they win tonight. Watching it right now.

From the bits and pieces I have seen, the MN RB doesn't look terrible so far.  I don't know if this is a product of the UNLV defense or him being actually pretty decent.
