I would love to hear how confident they are with the lines, where everything is won. It is probably going to be coach-speak. Hope we get some additional tidbits.

That is encouraging considering people mentioned they weren't seeing negative running plays like the past few years. Especially since our defense was top 10 against the run last year I believe and prob will be this year.

The front 7 on defense will be very good. Mone would have made it even better. With Peppers and Lewis playing extremely well along with solid play from Wilson and Hill and the addition of Lyons we could have a very very good defense. Clark has emerged as well and may play opposite of Lewis. This could be a top 10-15 unit and carry us early in the season.

Agreed. My hope is that with improved safety play and Peppers now in the mix, our defense will not just be good at stopping other teams, but might even be able to step in and win us a game or two early while our offense continues to gel (a la MSU a couple of years ago)

I don't think they wanted to show much in the scrimmage to the students. Most runs were predictable for the defense. They didn't run any complex running plays. Everything was vanilla which was planned. I have heard that it is very important to the coaching staff to have the element of surprise for Utah.

The longest run was probably under 7 yards, but most of the runs were just dives/iso's and they atleast were getting positive yards on each run. Smith was hitting the hole well; his cutback ability still is meh. Isaac is big and has a nice burst, and Green seems to have slimmed down even more. Johnson participated in drills but not the scrimmage

Assuming we have a top 20 front seven - a relatively safe assumption given last year's production and guys returning, assuming everyone improves at least marginally - it's very good to hear that our OL looks good against them. It'd be hard not to project both of our lines to be towards the top of the conference, with the experience our starters have and the coaching each line has gained.

from that whether it's because one unit is particularly good, or the other is not so good. Does a lack of negative rushing plays mean that the Oline is tightening things up, or that the Defense doesn't have anyone who can penetrate and blow up plays? Hard to know until we play a real opponent.

Thanks for talking up the D Boyz!  It was always the Michigan Defense that made us Michigan!  That's why the RR years were so difficult . . .

As far as I can tell they added the relevant players. Still haven't deleted Samuelson. Heights and weights have not been updated from the Spring roster, and I'm not sure they will be. During the Hoke era I seem to remember the heights and weights being updated very near the beginning of camp.

Wait a minute. We don't have to figure out how to get the crew off the sub. He's already done that, he would have had to. All we gotta do is figure out what he's gonna do. So how's he gonna get the crew off the sub.

They have to want to get off. How do you get a crew to want to get off a submarine? How do you get a crew to want to get off a nuclear sub...

This is some impressive long-haul submariner work by Harbaugh and the team really - we are only a week and a half out from the first game and only now do we get what looks like our first and only shot at some substantial statements (maybe) from anyone on the staff. I kind of thought the sub might surface a few times more, but it doesn't matter - I respect this approach all the same.
