Ed Warinner O-Line videos
While Ed Warriner has apparently accepted a role on the coaching staff. While his position on the staff and role is unknown as of right now. Here are some video's of the O-line when he was at Ohio State.

Strange hire if true, especially after the Frey experience. Another zone guy, another guy who seems like a good guy as run-coordinator/ol coach but also has some personality concerns. Harbaugh going back to a zone guy makes me believe there’s been a shift in his offensive philosophy.

Pistol/RPO type offense. Quick passes to our play makers. This is stuff ive read out there. So who knows.

That's probably what Shea Patterson is best at, at least based off of the film I've watched of him, so I won't discount entirely that there's going to be this sort of a change especially if he plays.
January 21st, 2018 at 9:51 AM ^
He's not going to be coaching the players, nor would they change the offense for him if that's the case. He can add more than just knowledge of zone blocking schemes.
January 21st, 2018 at 11:45 AM ^
I just have a tough time understanding why he would leave an OC/OL coach position at MN (not including his time at OSU) for an analyst position.
January 21st, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
He was only with him for one year and Fleck's OL coach from WMU is also on the staff coaching TEs. Hard to see why he would leave if they were happy with each other. OC and run game coordinator are not equivalent jobs.
This is a soft landing spot for a year, with the potential to move up if Drevno leaves sometime.
January 21st, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
His title was to be determined. We all know he coaches OL and he could be a Run game coordinator as well. Have you not heard anything about a possible change in offense to accommodate our QB and Passing game?
January 21st, 2018 at 1:06 PM ^
Patterson. That makes sense. And Warriner has experience that he could pass along. Perfect for an analyst.
But thinking we're going to a different blocking system because of this move is a jump too far. It's hard to think of any reason to make that change after last season's experiment.
Nothing has been made official about his title, but there were several reports that he interviewed for an analyst position and nothing that contradicted them.
Does he seem like a legitimate candidate for OC over Enos, et al? At this point, it seems very unlikely Drevno is leaving. He's stepped up his role in recruiting since before Frey left and has $4 million left on his contract.

Interesting, seems like a great hire as an analyst. Three years ago he was the run game coordinator for the best running game in college. May have had something to do with Barret, Elliot, Decker etc, but seems like a steep fall.
January 21st, 2018 at 9:27 AM ^
He helped MN sign their highest ranked offensive line class ever. Yeah, tallest midget but still.
January 21st, 2018 at 11:21 AM ^
Ironic that he's been so often discussed here but doesn't get offered due to questions about ability to play the position, commits to Minnesota under warriner, and then warinner comes here.
I always thought he should have been pursued on the off chance he develops well. If warinner likes him then I feel like this was a recruiting miss.
January 21st, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Michigan doesn't really have the luxury of being able to take too many developmental projects on the O line right now. they need another year or 2 of classes that have a couple "could play immediately if needed" type guys. by him landing at Minnesota, shows what kind of project he is going to be.
January 21st, 2018 at 1:38 PM ^
Michigan is struggling to land any instant impact oline guys, the 2 OT’s in 18’ class r projects, I think they shoulda went after fallale cuz now they can’t seem to get any of their targets now, if miss out on Patterson that will suck

Curtis Dunlap Jr a smaller 6’ 5” 368 Four Star, also from IMG is the best recruit in the MB class.

But are analysts allowed to activity recruit?
January 21st, 2018 at 11:30 AM ^
No. But he wasn’t an analyst in Minnesota.
January 21st, 2018 at 9:33 AM ^
Before OSU he was at Kansas and they did not run zone. That team with no five star OL or RB players had an excellent running game averaring almost 300 yards per game. Their top two rushers averaged almost 6 yards per cary rushing for more than 2000 yards.

This is the internet. Hot Takes only, please.

awesome

Before coming back here last year as well and that turned out to be a mistake pairing him with Drevno.
January 21st, 2018 at 9:47 AM ^
While at OSU. Is there anyone who thinks that shit would be ok for Warriner to wear an OSU natty ring while recruiting for us? Is it safe to say that, if we are in fact, “not on that level with osu” and we aren’t seeing many head to head battles with them, that its ok to use it as a recruiting tool? Or is it blasphemy....like I feel?
January 21st, 2018 at 9:49 AM ^
I realize his title isn’t given yet and he may not even go out to recruit. Hypothetically asking...
January 21st, 2018 at 9:50 AM ^
I feel the same way. However, at this point I don’t care what it takes.
I will swallow my pride on this one. I want titles.
January 21st, 2018 at 10:00 AM ^
How about some important wins in general???
January 21st, 2018 at 10:16 AM ^
I meant O line coach, Assistant, film guy, etc...his job title
Edit.....my bad, your reply wasn’t to my post.
January 21st, 2018 at 10:00 AM ^
that OSU's OC on a national championship team is now working in a support role for Michigan. Is flashing his ring helpful? Maybe. Conversations that it starts should be. Let's face it. Every recruit already knows about OSU's recent success.
If he becomes a full fledged assistant and starts coaching players, it's time to take it off.
January 21st, 2018 at 2:18 PM ^
He wasn't OSU's OC on a NC team. That would have been Tom Herman. He was their line coach.

Is super neat

Watching our team rebuild. Mostly due to the gumbo we’ve created. Hopefully we’re cooking up some Wu-tang Stylez!

You don’t want to see it, get me one to replace it....
January 21st, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
I wonder if the Warinner hiring means that Drevno is going back to West coast...and that if he doesn't find job soon he will be released. Same with Enos and Pep.
January 21st, 2018 at 10:24 AM ^
I've only heard that he'll be an analyst, replacing Scott Turner. Don't think he'll be recruiting...
January 21st, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
You heard wrong son. As of now it's a yet-to-be-determined position.
January 21st, 2018 at 11:21 AM ^
I think you've heard wrong. It's all over the place that he's coming in as an analyst. Pep Hamilton's not going anywhere so get over that. The analyst position is holding spot for next year for a coaching position. This is exactly how Chris Partridge did it.
January 21st, 2018 at 11:37 AM ^
Chris Partridge was the director of player personnel in recruiting so it not “exactly” how it’s done.
January 21st, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
Take it you know inside info on what coaches come and go? Anything can happen and his spot is TO BE DETERMINED.
January 21st, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
How can you be so absolutely convinced that his position has not yet been determined? Not announced /= not determined; in fact, I'd be astonished if Harbaugh hired him without even determining in advance what position he was hiring him for.
You are shouting out your ignorance, methinks.
January 21st, 2018 at 12:01 PM ^
So you believe that Warinner would leave Minnesota to be an analyst here? The only way is if he wants to retire from coaching. And I doubt that. This means Drevno is leaving.
January 21st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
I'm reading between the lines here!
January 21st, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
Drevno isn’t leaving at this point. Pep might because NFL teams are still finalizing coaching staffs and making hires.
And Drevno isn’t taking a demotion either.
Only shuffle that would happen is Pep leaving, Enos taking Pep’s spot as PGC/WR/QB, Drevno maybe becoming just OC, and Warriner taking over the OL.
January 21st, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
Being reported that Warriner is being considered for the Tennessee Titans OLine coaching job..So, this could be a barely knew ya situation..Time will tell
