Eastern Michigan to Install Gray Field Turf for Upcoming Season
This will look quite odd.
is a pretty lady. Dave Brandon has some work to do.
she is. Seems awful young to be AD at a D1 school - but I'm ok with it. :)
then goes to OSU to be in their athetics dept... she is not to be trusted.
A gray field might be one of the dumbest things I've heard of in a long time.
This guys happy about it though
/I'll see myself out
Did this discussion really need to open with a comment about her appearance? Seriosuly, not everything is about your penis.
Or is it?
No matter how respectful I tried to make my comment, I KNEW someone was gonna take it wrong. Congrats on being that guy.
Your comment was not respectful. It is not possible to objectify someone respectfully.
All I said was that she was a pretty lady. Please tell me how that wasn't respectful.
If you think she's hot you've been living in Ann Arbor way too long.
Then worked for Ohio State for 15 years
-OT thread here then.
Trade.
Pretty smart for EMU to hire a female AD because they can save some money by paying her 10% less than her male counterparts.
So very tired of obviously artificial turf. Hurts my eyes. (Curse you, Boise State!)
I realize it's EMU's prerogative if they want to have a "parking lot" themed football field, but aside from the issue of taste, wow--$500k seems like a big investment for a football team with ticket revenues like EMU. Perhaps the money could have been put toward a new coach . . . .
The money is coming from the games in Florida and Michigan State.
And I think they've needed to replace the field for a couple years anyway (bits of the little rubber pieces were starting to come up last season).
As for the gray, I just hope it photographs well.
...for to recover that $500K in the salaries of grounds crew folks that won't be employed to maintain the field anymore.
Do you really want Dave Brandon to dye his hair and get some bolt ons?
but so does their product on the field...might as well make the field itself look odd!

Seriously though, I don't mind teams "mixing it up" with stuff like this. If it gives them good PR - then good for them!
"Why not make it like a parking lot? We said we would play on one, that's who we are," Creighton said. "We want to reinforce that identity, and that work ethic. Lets make it like a factory like the blue collar area Ypsilanti is."
I will say this - in reference to the renovation, if you will, of a football team's image, I don't think I've ever heard the suggestion the field be turned into something resembling a parking lot. Still, it's definitely an interesting direction to go, to say the least.
I'm shocked they approved this expense since installing new Field Turf will cost at least $500,000, or, put differently, at least 5x an entire season's worth of football ticket revenue for EMU. This renovation alone will put the football program in the red for 2014.
but did anyone else see the story about Northwestern being a "peanut free zone" for its first three home games this season? To give those with peanut allergies an opportunity to watch a game...
of COURSE!
.... but maaaaybe..
Of course... But maaaaybe...
Can they keep the old turf in storage in case the gray ends up being a disaster?
"The Factory?" a "parking lot?"
Whatever the geniuses who came up with this idea are getting paid, it's too much.
Of what? Losing seasons and places to kill dreams?
Unlike the turf at Boise and the school with the red turf, at least it doesn't make my eyes bleed.
I flew over the Eastern Wash field last week on the way into Spokane, and it was VERY visible from 10,000 ft
Like this, right?
The color gray matches Ypsi perfectly. They must have hired an expensive color consultant.
Probably talked to the makeup counter woman at Briarwood. "EMU Football, my computer color analysis clearly shows that you are a ... Nuclear Winter! Grays, asphalt black, road salt white, and rust will be most flattering for you."
It's actually the color of a shadow. As in, we're accepting that we are in the shadow of something better.
we need a fiber optic block M that glows at night. .just sayin
