then goes to OSU to be in their athetics dept... she is not to be trusted.

A gray field might be one of the dumbest things I've heard of in a long time.

This guys happy about it though

So very tired of obviously artificial turf.  Hurts my eyes.  (Curse you, Boise State!)

I realize it's EMU's prerogative if they want to have a "parking lot" themed football field, but aside from the issue of taste, wow--$500k seems like a big investment for a football team with ticket revenues like EMU.  Perhaps the money could have been put toward a new coach . . . .

but so does their product on the field...might as well make the field itself look odd!

Seriously though, I don't mind teams "mixing it up" with stuff like this.  If it gives them good PR - then good for them!

"Why not make it like a parking lot? We said we would play on one, that's who we are," Creighton said. "We want to reinforce that identity, and that work ethic. Lets make it like a factory like the blue collar area Ypsilanti is."

I will say this - in reference to the renovation, if you will, of a football team's image, I don't think I've ever heard the suggestion the field be turned into something resembling a parking lot. Still, it's definitely an interesting direction to go, to say the least.

As an EMU alum I am not wild about funds going toward this, especially since our field was aready green, which is our primary color. If it snags a few recruits away from the Chips, I guess I can deal.

I'm shocked they approved this expense since installing new Field Turf will cost at least $500,000, or, put differently, at least 5x an entire season's worth of football ticket revenue for EMU. This renovation alone will put the football program in the red for 2014.

I'm sorry, but I hate the fields being red, blue, gray, etc. it is just not aesthetically pleasing to me. But, it's their money. Whatever makes people happy is fine by me.

but did anyone else see the story about Northwestern being a "peanut free zone" for its first three home games this season?  To give those with peanut allergies an opportunity to watch a game...

"The Factory?" a "parking lot?"

Whatever the geniuses who came up with this idea are getting paid, it's too much.

Probably talked to the makeup counter woman at Briarwood.  "EMU Football, my computer color analysis clearly shows that you are a ... Nuclear Winter!  Grays, asphalt black, road salt white, and rust will be most flattering for you."
