East-West Shrine Bowl Open Thread: Today at 3:00 pm w/7 of our guys on roster
[Duplicating my post on the Kyle Kalis thread, because the title did lead to confusion. Next week's all-star game is officially "The Reese's Senior Bowl." Snyder's tweet uses the term Senior Bowl as he adds Kalis was chosen for today's East-West Shrine Bowl.]
Today's Shrine Bowl roster for the East Team with a link to audio of the game for those who don't have NFL Network. Our guys as listed as of now:
Kyle Kalis #67
Erik Magnuson #77
De’Veon Smith #2
Channing Stribling #31
Matt Godin #98
Dymonte Thomas #23
“Lano” Delano* Hill (S) #39
Also on the East Team: Cooper Rush (QB, #10) from Central Michigan. Western's QB Zach Terrell (#11) is, of course, on the Western team. Because Western.
*In a previous post some of us wondered why he suddenly became Lano post-school. My new theory: Pre-emptive move so commentators who know not Michigan wouldn't assume he was related to FDR.

for Dymonte Thomas. Thought he'd make an excellent Viper with another year here.

I saw from Matt Miller that Smith has raised his stock the most out of anybody there.

Speaks to the status of our O-Line.
Not good, Bob.

I just feel guilty we weren't calling him Lano all these years.

he never was a Defensive End.

He has been going by "lano" and sometimes "D-lanes" for a while now.

Thanks for the insight, Mr. Guwop.

Why are there no OSU players listed for either today's Shrine Game, OR next weeks Senior Bowl?
January 21st, 2017 at 3:27 PM ^
Ohio State had so many players leave early last year. The only senior I can think of was Pat Elflein.

hadn't actually thought of the criteria for these games, even though 1 has senior in it's title.

He's gotta do more on the edge against blockers.

Mayock even noticed.

I've been out of things for a while, but does anyone know why Chesson didn't get invited to either game?

Deveon smith buried for a 2 yard loss. War flashbacks

Scrolling on the bottom of the sreen during the game it says: "D. J.'s first round picks" and the only Wolverine listed in the first round is Taco Charleton going to the Lions at #21. Don't shoot the messenger, that's just what it say's.

Peppers is the only other potential 1st day guy and he may not go 1st day. I'd have advised him to go getnpaod but as a player he would have been better off coming back and focusing on a single position (FS/SS/HB). I really do think he could be a 1st round HB talent and don't be surprised if he's asked to play HB in the NFL outright or if he's not working out at DB/undersized blitz LB.

Very boring football game and no one player really stood out.
