Grass is Green, cocaine is White. All of these statements are self-evident.

Also, what the hell did that girl think was going to happen in these 'relationships' before she signed up? That they were just going to go to dinner or the movie and hang out?

The girl's statement does prove that MSU students are a notch below Michigan's.  I can't imagine a Michigan student being dumb enough to think that men on a Sugar Daddy site are going to give her money just for looking cute and hanging out.

She's probably the only girl in EL who wouldn't "put out" for $100.

Well, the thing about local news, you don't have to report on every crazy thing that happens on the Internet.  Yes, you could conceivably find a tenuous local connection to just about any type of exploitative, distasteful website, but do we really need to read about MSU being the 16st most represented school on a sugar daddy website?

I agree with your premise, whole-heartedly.  And this link would appear to be prima facie evidence that, as suspected, hundreds of MSU co-eds may be females of negotiable affecting.

My issue is with the local news providing unwitting plugs for the website in question.

These guys are idiots to foresee quality/activity worth $14k or any ridiculous amount. Probably cheaper to mail-order a bride.

Guy 1: Do you think prostitution is crazy?
Guy 2: Yea.
Guy 1: Because of morality or riskiness?
Guy 2: Because its too expensive.

Someone should hook up the girl who was surprised that men were seeking sex through these "arrangements" with Manti Teo.  They would be the only two people in the world who would not take advantage of the other's naivete.

And you should feel bad.

Also, let's take a looksee:

2012-13 MSU enrollment estimate: 48,880

Alleged women of negotiable affection: 300

Maths---> 0.615%

"OH BUT WAIT ONLY WIMMENZ CAN BE OF NEGOTIABLE AFFECTIONS!' Wrong, but whatever, assume MSU has a 50:50 ratio.

300/24,440 = 1.230%

YEA THEM SPARTANDAWGS ARE SUCH HOOKERSLOOTS! LET US STROKE OURSELVES TO THE THOUGHTS OF OUR MICHIGAN WOMEN OF HIGHER MORALS.

I sort of agree. It is interesting that you forget that during the 80s,90s, and early oughts that many UofM female students worked in Windsor and other approximate Canadian cities as strippers. It was cash, no taxes and it had amenity. They paid their way through UofM and never looked back. It wasn't just UofM either. Kind of shocked that any one would find these sites or co-eds prostituting men for a buck all that novel. Pretty common in every university's culture.

Since I was a fetus in New York in late '89, I never did have much awareness of how Michigan students were earning their spending money at the time, but the more you know! I just graduated in April, and there were always rumors of so-and-so stripping in Ypsi. It's a big enough university so it's not a far stretch to imagine a few hundred students involved with sugar daddies or cougars on the side.

Serious question. When does gold digging, in which a woman enters a relationship solely to enjoy a man's vast resources, become prostitution? I think it happens when there is an explicit exchange of money/goods for services, rather than an implicit arrangement or understanding. This site seems to push into a bizarre grey area, it seems hard to classify.

Girls who sign up for this expecting the scenario to be non-sexual are incredibly naive. But I guess you'd have to be a bit crazy to sign up for something like this in the first place.

relationship with a Sugar Daddy because we're just the bestest university in the whole universe where all our women are pure and virginal until they get married to upright professional men.

Financial pressure can be tough, especially student loan debt and the increased difficulty in finding a high paying entry-level job. But as the unnamed girl points out in the article, all this amounts to is prostitution. I hope and pray that young girls in college (even MSU) find ways to pay for school that don't include selling their bodies to men.

There are apparently several hundred women in our state who were so sheltered from every conceivable reference to S-E-X that it never occurred to them what the very name "Seeking Arrangements" and term "Sugar Daddy" implied?

One of my girlfriend's sorority sisters would go back to Grand Rapids quite frequently or she would be in Chicago or NYC for the weekend.  I was always sort of wondering why she was gone so much, especially since she had a boyfriend in Ann Arbor; their relationship seemed pretty damned strong, too.

Well, it turns out that this young lady had a sugar daddy, and I was never sure if the BF knew about it.  I found out after I had graduated and wasn't close with my girlfriend's friends any more.  Not sure I would have told the guy, but I was sort of freaked out.  The sugar daddy apparently was giving the girl rent money and some spending money - not sure what the reciprocation was.

To make matters worse, it turns out my GF was banging her old high school teacher, and they ended up getting married.  Good times.

Hello! I recently found out that a lot of people meet on the Internet, but to be honest, I don't need regular dates, I need a sugar relationship, have you heard anything about this? Be sure to head over to www.bestsugardaddydate.com and choose your dating platform! I hope my recommendation was helpful to you and you have a great time!
