So, there haven't been many of these on Defense, but on the final play...
RPS +3 - that's Gergtastic
I don't care if we gave up 65, that was WAYYYYYYYY better than Penn State. The defense was done no favors as far as Illinois' starting field position.
so yeah, we had more possessions and more stops. got burnt on blitzes a couple of times, but high risk - high reward. it's more fun to watch than the slow and assured death of last week.
If I'm not mistaken I think there were 18 points off our 5 turnovers too. Which isn't bad considering many of those happend down in our end of the field.
I repeat, SIX PUNTS. That's how we won the game.
+2 to Coach Rod for the form tackle of the manager amidst the frenzy. That's how you hit!
and played it in slow motion. It was more like, the manager went down on this own, and RR did a nice little side step over the top of him for the victory celebration....
You wouldn't see that kind of agility from Lloyd Carr.... /s
Edit: watched the game again and it was actually Gardner that took out the manager. Could we be seeing another switch from Off to Def? ...../ double S
That was a ballsy playcall on the 2PC. Banzai Blitz to end it is fitting for a game that played out like NCAA '11
Actually, in NCAA '11 Banzai Blitz rushes 8. That was only a 6-man blitz. :)
Man, Brian is going to have to work overtime to chug the UFRs out this week. That was an insane # of plays.
I wonder if the OTs will skew the player +/- numbers at all.
Anyone know why it hasn't been brought up that all stats be frozen when OT starts?
The score is a statistic.
And really, why shouldn't the stats count? The game is still going, the players/teams still racked up their yards, catches, etc.
Probably a little bit. The wheel route TD will probably be the biggest thing from OTs as that'll get a -3 or -4 since it was a repeat playcall. I think we'll see a few more extreme #s than we're used to simply because of all the plays. Probably a huge + for Demens and some big negatives for Mouton and maybe some other guys.
Vinopal seemed to play better in the OT. If that time counts my guess would be his numbers, along with a select few others, will go up.
yes, i'll be very interested to see if a defensive player stepped on to the field during the game, maybe i missed it.
has no business getting burned 3 times on the same wheel route. i'm definitely feeling a little lucky today, but I'll take it.
The defense is still very bad, but my goodness is this offense amazing. Another top D, another pile of yards and points. We might have hung 60 in regulation if we hadn't turned it over 5 times.
That said, bowl eligibility was my hope for this season. No more. We just back got 80 practice hours of our lost 130. The D could use it.
Also, can anyone confirm that DB was on with Brandy and Frank talking about the FR on D? A friend said it sounded like an endorsement for RR to stay. Apparently he's tired of the public job evaluations of RR.
