ND -6.5

It was ND -7 all summer
Per 5dimes, its ND -4.5 right now
Other Big 10 lines of note next week:
Miami +9.5 at OSU
Penn State +11 at Bammer
Iowa St +14 at Iowa

That Iowa spread is tempting. Iowa State seems to annually be bad but still somehow make this a good game.

I'm not sure I would touch Iowa State spreads for anything.

to have the lines.
I like Miami +9.5
I Love Bama -11

I owe you an email, btw. To answer your question for your email, in a word: yes. But, I'll hit you back this week, I promise.
From one Jim Harbaugh lover to another, I have to ask.....have you seen a better performance out of a MIchigan QB? It's been spinning in my head for a full day, I cant come up with one that was better.

with the greats for sure. The only other amazing QB performance that really stands out to me is Brady against Bama.
Henne against Florida is another great one, but I would put that one below the other two, as I remember Henne had a bad pick.

probably rich leach in his last two years. I missed the early 80's; i wanted to see a wishbone offense up close and personal. we started to move awayfrom the option after harbaugh's so year with the season ending broken arm suffered on an option play, and umich started their move to the prosets.

...like taking candy from a baby with that line...
The nightmare for opposing coaches...RichRod's offense working...it's coming soon to ND.
Also, I really like that Alabama line.

against a Nick Saban defense - going to be a long day for the PSU offense. I like Bama to win that game big.
Not to mention the YSU offense had a few good drives on the PSU defense - I wonder what Richardson and Ingraham are gonna do.

It started at -6 this morning, and it is already down to -4.5. That should give ya a clue as to where the real money is going. With all the Denard hype, it may get down to -3.5 or so by gametime.

It was ND -5.5 Friday on Sportsbook. I assume it will be -3 by Monday.

This is good intel.
I had not realized that. So this isnt as big of a move from -7 as I thought based on opening weekend results. I hadnt looked at the future lines in several days.
I meant to print them out before the games started and I forgot

According to the list of point spreads and the corresponding odds of victory straight up, ND has a 66% or so likelihood of winning. Our fearless leader made note of it some time ago:

Hopefully that lends some insight. Florida was also favored by about 5 over Alabama last year and it worked so very well for us.

I'm gonna predict a very similar outcome to the UCONN game. I think our team is breathing fire right now because of all of the criticism over what happened last year. More importantly I don't see Notre Dame having any better of a defensive answer for D. Rob's speed. GO BLUE!!
September 6th, 2010 at 12:08 AM ^
I know these comparisons aren't valid, and I am leery about this game, but didn't Michigan just trounce a team that beat ND last year? I can't see UConn deteriorating or ND improving enough that ND should be favored. I guess all of those ND bettors "know" more than I do about ND.
September 6th, 2010 at 12:32 AM ^
well, ND just beat a team that beat us last year, so...
It really comes down to matchups. ND plays a 3-4. Do they really have the speed on the outside to contain Denard? Can any of their OLBs make tough stops one on one?
Watched their game on nbc.com and it looked like they rarely, if at all, played nickel. Their safeties didn't really do much of anything. and they let their LBs drop into coverage a lot. I assume they will mostly be in nickel against us and rely on their front 3 to create pressure while keeping their LBs/DBs in to contain .They had (I think) 4 sacks from their d-lineman yesterday.
So I think the big question is whether ND's d line can create pressure without blitzes and whether their LBs/Nickel D can make plays in space.

To qualify, it should be against a legitimate opponent, which U Conn is thought to be. Statistically, has there ever been a better performance? Denard set the record for total yards, and 2nd for completion percentage...6.8 yards per carry, and what was his QB rating?
September 6th, 2010 at 1:10 AM ^
I'm not that high on Purdue.
But Kelly knows how to play good physical football. This should be a head knocker of a game.
September 6th, 2010 at 1:22 AM ^
To Hell with Notre Dame!
Denard Robinson will run right over the Irish defense... book it!
September 6th, 2010 at 2:07 AM ^
But after saturday i think we have a good shot of winning this game.If you watched the highlights on sportscenter purdue's qb ran for a 30 yard touchdown,im sure denard will be able to as well.I think the defense will play tighter coverage, and we will win hopefully.Go Blue
