The dates for the sites are set well in advance.  Kansas City is a Thu / Sat site.  When Michigan got put into the midwest region, they inherited a Thu / Sat regional.  This isn't new; it's been set this way from Selection Sunday.

In bygone days of yore -- pre-pods -- teams used to advance en masse from Saturday's games to Thursday and from Sunday to Friday.  However, with the pod system, that's no longer the case; there is no longer any correlation between the first/second round sites and the regional sites, so it's not possible to set it up that way.

For example, Michigan was playing in the midwest region but Kentucky was playing -- in the same building, mind you -- in the south region.  Kentucky happens to get Fri / Sun, because that's the schedule in Memphis.

Noooooooooo Reggie Miller.

EDIT: To clarify, we got the garbage announcing team of Harlan, Miller, and Bonner.  Which is mostly garbage because of Miller.

South gets Nantz/Hill/Raftery

East gets Uncle Verne and Spanarkel

South gets Anderson and Webber.

Let's make it the seventh win in a row, too.

I'm actually really bummed about this time since I'm on the west coast.  Unbelievable they would put our game, which includes a west coast team, first.

I can't imagine that many more KU/Purdue fans would watch at 8:40 Central or 9:40 Eastern compared to 6pm/7pm.  But a lot less Oregon/PAC12 fans will be able to watch our game at 4 than would watch it at 6:40 local.

Sigh.

was injured before the tournament was seeded.  Supposedly they take injuries into account.

That being said, our 7 seed was clearly wrong.  There is no way we weren't at least a 6 seed.  But it is hard to be upset when Wisconsin clearly got seed-hosed way worse than us.  How anyone can say with a straight face that they were an 8-seed is just beyond me, and they clearly have proven it.

Going to be another really difficult game, but I think we matchup pretty well with Oregon. I don't see how they'll stop Wagner & Wilson down low. It would be nice to get Dillon Brooks in early foul trouble if he has to match up with Wilson.

A lot of athleticism on that team that we're going to have to overcome. But we dealt with the same thing with Louisville and we can do it with Oregon.

Will be a very tough matchup, for sure.

Perfect combination of non-disiplined offense and poor communication on defence. Our offense will tear them apart and cause a lot of foul trouble finally in our favor.

UM is built to take down any remaining team. Only bad calls/refs can stop our momentum.

Should they get past Oregon, Kansas would concern me a lot. That team is stacked with NBA talent and athleticism across the board. And it would be a virtual home game for them. Lawrence is more or less a suburb of Kansas City. That game would probably be 80-20 KU fans, maybe 70-30 at best.

Not saying Michigan couldn't beat them, but I would much rather play Purdue a fourth time.

Against URI I thought Oregon looked sloppy with the ball, and not real tight on defense.  I don't think they can run us off the 3 point line AND keep Mo and DJ out of the paint.  Louisville couldn't do both and Lousiville is better than Oregon.  We'll force turnovers and then spread them out on O.  Walton doesn't need to go silly from 3, but if he does we could run them outta the gym.  Doesn't even have to be Walton... Irvin, Robinson...any combination hitting regular from 3 and we curb stomp Oregon.  If they run us off the 3 we still win with Mo and DJ but maybe not curb stomp.
