“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”
That was a very lazy route by the UCF receiver
The Purdue grad in me has a sad...
Come on UCF! I hate the SEC!
WVU ahead of OkSU, 24-14. We could be moving up in the polls without playing a game.
hurt? Guess so. Carry on. . .
Here's a halftime snapshot of the Purdue game:
3rd down efficiency
|2 of 5||3 of 8|
4th down efficiency
|16 of 20||7 of 18|
Yards per pass
Yards per rush
From those stats you expect a close game or even Purdue winning... until you get down to turnovers. And that says it all.
Purdue just burned a redshirt on a QB named Etling that is supposed to be their future. He threw two lasers to set up a fg to end the half. He might be what to watch in the second half of the early games.
And it's gone.
Purdue may win 1 B1G game this year. 1
Hopin' UCF doesn't regret leaving at least that FG on the field due that INT late in the half.
At the Carolina vs. E. Carolina game. Carolina fans already leaving.
It is almost halftime though, so they could be going to concessions.
I'm at the game . . . they are leaving
Having a viewing party for that game and loving every second of it. My roommate and I agreed before the game to shotgun a beer every ECU touchdown which is pretty regrettable, however.
Jonas mouton alert for UCF
Is it just me? Did Danny Etling fall into the container of eye black?
Also, nice fake punt by Purdue to get the first down. The anti-Zook move - DON'T punt when they least expect it.
USC makes adjustments. And evudently UCF assumes USC will make no adjustments.
Hmmm, looks to me like Spurrier made a lot of adjustments.
The Big Ten needs to sit Purdue down and have a conversation with them. This shit is downright embarrassing.
Can we kick them out of the conference?
Rugers and Maryland are major upgrades over them. Their football program couldn't compete in an FCS conference.
This is a team that nearly lost to Indiana St. It's a pretty bad program right now, but I guess every conference needs at least one. I mean, the ACC has UNC, Big 12 apparently has WVU (though today's game is going better than I expected). But yeah, Purdue needs to figure out what they are doing.
Glad for the fumble on USC, but no way Spurrier was going to let his QB throw for that. UCF's coaches got RPS'ed pretty badly on that call that they should've known was coming.
That's 17 points across the four turnovers committed by Purdue, so there's that. Take away those points, and Purdue is still down by two scores, so there's that too.
So you're saying that they're bad and that they should feel bad?
I've like your approach of making a team feel better with facts pointing out how them sucking is at least partially self-inflicted, not just getting worked over by a better squad. Makes you feel like, heck, you almost had a chance to make it a respectable loss.
NIU is going to have the heads of 2 Big Ten programs on their mantle after this one.
MAC >>>> Big Ten
NIU is a good team with a great, experienced QB They could take out Kentucky and Vanderbilt and any of the lower tier of most conferences. Sadly the B1G was the one scheduling them.
NIU did make it to a BCS game last year you realize? They have the same QB and receiving corps too. They got smashed by Florida state, but would probably take West Virginia to the cleaners
How did Purdue hang with Notre Dame? I'm thinking the Irish are in for a whooping tonight against Oklahoma. That 3.5 spread is looking nice.
I think, at the end of the day, Notre Dame just isn't that good. Having Tommy Rees as the QB severely narrows Kelly's playbook, and the defense just isn't what it was last year.
Plus, I think playing Notre Dame is like when you play Michigan, or the Yankees, or any high-end program: every opponent is going to give you their best game.
I don't think Rees is that bad. He's not a great fit for a coach who likes to pass 50 times a game, though. ND has good backs but Kelly doesn't like to commit to the ground game.
Plus, 20 year-olds tend to just play like crap sometimes.
It's the "Little Brother" effect. Regional rival that feels disrespected every year, and that rage can make up for a disparity in talent and ability.
Duct tape and paper clips. They hung in tight against Notre Dame last year and took Ohio State to overtime, but every other loss was by at least 16 points. They only managed to get bowl eligibility by squeaking out 3-point wins against bad Iowa and Illinois teams.
I think it may just be that they can put together a maximum of two good games a year against major conference opponents.
Gotta wonder why Spurrier just didn't go power run game from the start? UCF currently has no answer.
Saw the INT coming from a mile away. Waaaaay too far a throw for a RB to make.
Godfrey used to be a QB so throwing isn't a foreign concept for him. In fact he was recruited by Michigan back in the day to be a dual-threat QB.
I really hope they can lay the wood against the 3-1 Falcons. Would make me sleep a whole lot better tonight.
Looks like we are leaving the game too now. Lol. Carolina fans. Meltdowns everywhere. I heard at least a dozen people say they are looking forward to BBall.
As much grief as Mack Brown gets for underachieving, he must have been a pretty good coach earlier in his career, because he made UNC really good for awhile. They've been crappy basically ever since he left for Texas.
It's official. Penn State is not as good as South Carolina.
Yikes - Purdue is losing by the largest margin ever by a B1G school to a MAC school (38 points).
In that same vein, ECU is murdering UNC by 18.. and it should be more if ECU wasn't being merciful. Also, West Virginia is beating Ok State. I think it's safe to say that the mid-majors are definitely gaining some strength. There is definitely parity around college football these days.
They prob still need a TO to really win this game but they have certainly given sc a big scare
Props to the wvu band for playing the jeopardy music during the replay
That's becoming clichéd. UConn's band did it as well.
doesn't even look like a MAC team. Embarrasing, even if NIU is very good.
They'll probably go on to lose 14-52 now
Ok st WRs all have butterfingers
