My understanding is Mack Brown basically does that.  They call their top target at each position, and if he doesn't commit, they just move on.  Then they leave 3-4 spots open and actively recruit only the kids they think are really special players.

Spartan Blueprint 2010 in full force

NW is 2/3 in the red zone

1 TD
1 FG
1 Turnover

This is what MSU has done all season. Limit your damage, often outright denying it, in the red zone.

So much time in this game. Those missing points loom all over this game right now. MSU's offense will deliver a blow or two, we know that.

So far so good. Navy and Northwestern are both winning. Northwestern needs to cash in on this missed field goal. Persa looks really dangerous.

Persa sneaks in for a TD! I haven't watched Northwestern at all this year.  Persa has been very impressive so far in this game.

I've heard good things about Persa and caught a little bit of him on the B10 network a couple of weeks ago.  The kid has shiftiness plus a decent arm - reminds me of Tate a bit from last year.  He's a senior and probably would have played earlier in his career if Kafka hadn't been a pretty good QB himself.  This offense also has quite a few upperclassmen on the 2-deep, which means they know the offense and how to perform.

One of the biggest differences between this game and the MSU games against Michigan and Illinois the last two weeks is that the Cats, even with a major red zone gaffe, have still be able to get multiple TDs on their consistent forays into scoring range.

What a great game so far
