Early enrollment list so far

Submitted by robbyt003 on

Jake Butt announced that he IS enrolling early now.

That means the current early enrollment list looks roughly like this:

  • Kyle Bosch
  • Jake Butt
  • Taco Charlton
  • Ross Douglas
  • Dymonte Thomas (probable)
  • Logan Tuley-Tillman

It looks likes early enrollment is becoming more and more popular every year and it will definitely help these guys see the field earlier.

Why can't he transfer to a different school immediately following the season.  If I remember it correctly, it doesn't seem like seniors do much the second semester anyways.  If we're going to compete with the SEC, we had better start acting like it.

More I look at the NFL and I'm seeing the problem 2te sets give. Can line up and run a power running game. Or essentially have 4 or 5 wide from the same personnel. What does a defence do? Run base set and get burned when you have lbs covering 6'5+ receivers, or go nickel and get run over.

This is good.  I think a lot of kids that go to Alabama do this.  It shows too, since their Freshmen get a lot of PT.  They are seasoned starters by their sophomore years.

I wish this option had been available back when I was a student.  I didn't play football or anything, but man--I would definitely have jumped at the chance to shave six months off high school and start college early.

For that reason, I'm kind of surprised this isn't even more common than it already is.

Depending on how old you are, you can do a form of EE as a regular student.  I took one of my pre-req's 2nd semester of highschool at CMU which combined with starting to work on campus that summer meant by the fall I was giving directions/advice to froshs and transfer students while only being a freshman myself.

Its a program that I wish would have been pushed more at my HS as I would have taken more advantage of it but that would mean our counselors would have actually had to do their jobs.

It will help them all , but especially guys like LTT. Even though he has the physical tools and upside, he's still very raw. I wish all of our interior lineman could get that crucial jump start as we really need them. I thought McCray and Dukes were trying also but I'm not sure.

I thought Shane Morris was trying to graduate early too. Any word one way or the other on that.

The way things are going, I'm beginning to think that next fall's starting QB would be a tossup between Shane and Bellomy next fall and his being at Spring Practice would only further that belief.

Devin Gardner is the odds on favorite to be the starting quarterback next year. If we were deeper, more athletic and more experienced at receiver he would not be seeing the field as a receiver. He has expressed his intentions on being Michigan's quarterback and playing wuarterback in the NFL multiple times and confirms he still sees himself as a quarterback (so does Hoke btw).

Knowing this staff, they will have Gardner starting, Bellomy as the back up and will try to redshirt Shane until he is ready to take over after Devin's departure the next year.

that the coaches are hoping Devin is too good to switch back to qb and Bellomy becomes so dependable he can start. I know theyve said they'll let Devin compete or qb, and I think they will. But I wont be shocked if this is actually an option next year. Or even some combination.

If Morris arrives on campus in the summer and is the starter for the opener, this team is in big trouble. This ain't 7 on 7; this is major college football

I don't see Morris being ahead of Gardner in the '13 QB competition in any way, shape, or form, just not gonna happen. Morris is not going to be anywhere near as prepared as Gardner.

I said the same thing about Gardner when he came out of HS highly lauded, ie he should redshirt. Actually same goes for Denard as well, he should have redshirted and then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Yeah but Henne had a hell of an offensive line in front of him. Think about what we're fielding next year. We graduate both guards, the center and Taylor Lewan may leave early. The next quarterback, whomever it is, may be running for their life behind three or four new starters which will likely include two redshirt freshmen (or sophs if Hoke gives them snaps this year), a walk on and a junior who lost the competition this year with Elliot Mealer. The second stringers will all be redshirt freshmen or true freshmen.

I certainly don't think he's the odds on favorite to start at QB next fall. He looks really good at WR, and Bellomy is coming along and getting more reps at QB. Also, Devin might start getting hype as the season goes on as an NFL WR, something he hasn't gotten a sniff of at wuarterback. Or QB, or that matter.

Here's to hoping Devin can be convinced he can be a millionaire if he stays at receiver, because I'm sure that's where the staff would love him to stay.

With The two freshmen [hopefully] developing this year/spring as viable 3rd/4th options, Gallon returns, Treadwell hopefully joins and J. Robinson gets time, we should be okay with Devin being the QB, especially if he is awarded that redshirt that I thought he was supposed to be awarded

There is a reason that Devin is playing WR, and it is b/c we are not that deep/good/experienced/whatever at that position.  And I don't see that situation getting better next year if Devin is not at WR.

Devin Gardner is in a unfortunate situation.  If he starts at QB next year, he loses arguably his best WR option (himself), and if he starts at WR, his dream of being Michigan's starting QB gets screwed over.  That being said, I hope you are right and we will be okay at WR...

The more kids that enroll early, the better chance we keep all these kids and they don't choose somewhere else, and has anyone heard news on Mathis,Treadwell and Green? I have heard nothing for weeks on these three
