Early enrollment list so far
Jake Butt announced that he IS enrolling early now.
That means the current early enrollment list looks roughly like this:
- Kyle Bosch
- Jake Butt
- Taco Charlton
- Ross Douglas
- Dymonte Thomas (probable)
- Logan Tuley-Tillman
It looks likes early enrollment is becoming more and more popular every year and it will definitely help these guys see the field earlier.

What's the max number they will allow to early enroll?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM ^
No limit. Can only backdate 3 though
September 10th, 2012 at 9:29 AM ^
I'm sure someone will ask it, and no, Shane Morris can't early enroll, his school won't allow him to graduate early
September 10th, 2012 at 10:17 AM ^
you're telling me there's a chance?!!!!
September 10th, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
No. He's not telling you that at all.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:07 AM ^
Why can't he transfer to a different school immediately following the season. If I remember it correctly, it doesn't seem like seniors do much the second semester anyways. If we're going to compete with the SEC, we had better start acting like it.

You can remember THAT far back, Herm? /s
September 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
Herm is actually in his early to mid 20's. He's posting in character. I guarantee it.
September 10th, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
We all know this, but why can't you just let us believe he is an old grandpa? Next you're going to tell me that Santa isn't real.
September 10th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
Ha, and next you'll tell me that MGoHaiku ISN'T actually a disembodied internet personification of the haiku form. Whatever.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM ^
Good to hear about Jake Butt, there is no way he is getting redshirted so the extra practice time will be important
September 10th, 2012 at 9:38 AM ^
Can you imagine Butt and Funchess at TE for the next few years? ooooo boy
September 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM ^
They're going to be running a whole lot of twin tight end sets, that's for sure. In general I'm just excited to see what Gorgeous Al can do with this passing offense over the next several years, as there should be no shortage of playmakers.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
See the New England Patriots offensive system with Hernandez & Gronkowski. That should give us a pretty good idea of what our O will look like.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:13 PM ^
More I look at the NFL and I'm seeing the problem 2te sets give. Can line up and run a power running game. Or essentially have 4 or 5 wide from the same personnel. What does a defence do? Run base set and get burned when you have lbs covering 6'5+ receivers, or go nickel and get run over.
September 10th, 2012 at 1:59 PM ^
Borges even likes to run the 3 TEs. On the TDs to Funchess and Gardner we had 3 TE in the game.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:05 AM ^
TE will be a very prominent position in Borges' offense once all the pieces are in place. I am getting excited about Funches' potential already.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:56 AM ^
Not sure how I feel about the name combination, but they'll be a deadly combo.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM ^
This is good. I think a lot of kids that go to Alabama do this. It shows too, since their Freshmen get a lot of PT. They are seasoned starters by their sophomore years.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:58 AM ^
I wish this option had been available back when I was a student. I didn't play football or anything, but man--I would definitely have jumped at the chance to shave six months off high school and start college early.
For that reason, I'm kind of surprised this isn't even more common than it already is.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:54 AM ^
Depending on how old you are, you can do a form of EE as a regular student. I took one of my pre-req's 2nd semester of highschool at CMU which combined with starting to work on campus that summer meant by the fall I was giving directions/advice to froshs and transfer students while only being a freshman myself.
Its a program that I wish would have been pushed more at my HS as I would have taken more advantage of it but that would mean our counselors would have actually had to do their jobs.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:09 PM ^
It often requires special approval from the school board to be able to graduate early, so you probably would have had to pull some strings.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:00 AM ^
Get those OL guys in early! we need em stat!
September 10th, 2012 at 10:11 AM ^
It will help them all , but especially guys like LTT. Even though he has the physical tools and upside, he's still very raw. I wish all of our interior lineman could get that crucial jump start as we really need them. I thought McCray and Dukes were trying also but I'm not sure.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:17 AM ^
Hasn't Hoke said he's actually not that big of a fan of early enrollment? And it's not a guarantee of future success. http://mgoblog.com/content/tuesday-recruitin-skips-prom
September 10th, 2012 at 10:27 AM ^
Hoke is very old school. "Go to Prom. Enjoy Senior year, etc." At Michigan, where being great means a decent shot at a continued football career, that advice doesn't always fly.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
Oh my god, it's going to be one HELL of a Spring Game in April. Too bad Shane isn't enrolling early.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:33 AM ^
Kyle Bosch?!?!?!?!?
September 10th, 2012 at 10:45 AM ^
I thought Shane Morris was trying to graduate early too. Any word one way or the other on that.
The way things are going, I'm beginning to think that next fall's starting QB would be a tossup between Shane and Bellomy next fall and his being at Spring Practice would only further that belief.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:52 AM ^
Nope, his high school doesn't let people graduate early.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:04 AM ^
Not only is that info in dozens of other threads, but sweet JEBUS! Look up!
September 10th, 2012 at 11:14 AM ^
Devin Gardner is the odds on favorite to be the starting quarterback next year. If we were deeper, more athletic and more experienced at receiver he would not be seeing the field as a receiver. He has expressed his intentions on being Michigan's quarterback and playing wuarterback in the NFL multiple times and confirms he still sees himself as a quarterback (so does Hoke btw).
Knowing this staff, they will have Gardner starting, Bellomy as the back up and will try to redshirt Shane until he is ready to take over after Devin's departure the next year.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:33 AM ^
that the coaches are hoping Devin is too good to switch back to qb and Bellomy becomes so dependable he can start. I know theyve said they'll let Devin compete or qb, and I think they will. But I wont be shocked if this is actually an option next year. Or even some combination.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:38 AM ^
wuarterback - is that a combination of water boy and quarterback?
As far as Gardner being the odds on favorite, who is making these odds? I'd be willing to bet that he IS NOT the starting QB week one of 2013.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:44 AM ^
It's pretty much Gardner or Bellomy, so in a way that makes it 50/50.
I will be surprised if Devin isn't playing QB next season. I don't think M wants to go into the opener 2013 with Bellomy at QB, Shane Morris behind Bellomy, and nobody behind Shane.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
Hoke has shown that he is not scared to start a true freshman. I would not be surprised at all to see the depth chat: 1. Morris 2. Bellomy 3. Gardner and have Gardner continue at WR.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:12 PM ^
If Morris arrives on campus in the summer and is the starter for the opener, this team is in big trouble. This ain't 7 on 7; this is major college football
I don't see Morris being ahead of Gardner in the '13 QB competition in any way, shape, or form, just not gonna happen. Morris is not going to be anywhere near as prepared as Gardner.
I said the same thing about Gardner when he came out of HS highly lauded, ie he should redshirt. Actually same goes for Denard as well, he should have redshirted and then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:18 PM ^
Henne was fine. Next years schedule is pretty light.
September 10th, 2012 at 12:27 PM ^
Yeah but Henne had a hell of an offensive line in front of him. Think about what we're fielding next year. We graduate both guards, the center and Taylor Lewan may leave early. The next quarterback, whomever it is, may be running for their life behind three or four new starters which will likely include two redshirt freshmen (or sophs if Hoke gives them snaps this year), a walk on and a junior who lost the competition this year with Elliot Mealer. The second stringers will all be redshirt freshmen or true freshmen.
September 10th, 2012 at 3:02 PM ^
seems like he'd be right at home. Hoke did mention playing Bolden more because his team ran the option in hs. He'd probably play Morris since his hs team's OL makes him break the pocket often and make throws on the run.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:48 AM ^
I certainly don't think he's the odds on favorite to start at QB next fall. He looks really good at WR, and Bellomy is coming along and getting more reps at QB. Also, Devin might start getting hype as the season goes on as an NFL WR, something he hasn't gotten a sniff of at wuarterback. Or QB, or that matter.
Here's to hoping Devin can be convinced he can be a millionaire if he stays at receiver, because I'm sure that's where the staff would love him to stay.
September 10th, 2012 at 1:57 PM ^
With The two freshmen [hopefully] developing this year/spring as viable 3rd/4th options, Gallon returns, Treadwell hopefully joins and J. Robinson gets time, we should be okay with Devin being the QB, especially if he is awarded that redshirt that I thought he was supposed to be awarded
September 10th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
There is a reason that Devin is playing WR, and it is b/c we are not that deep/good/experienced/whatever at that position. And I don't see that situation getting better next year if Devin is not at WR.
Devin Gardner is in a unfortunate situation. If he starts at QB next year, he loses arguably his best WR option (himself), and if he starts at WR, his dream of being Michigan's starting QB gets screwed over. That being said, I hope you are right and we will be okay at WR...
September 10th, 2012 at 11:19 AM ^
Can not graduate early the school doesn't provide early graduation. I believe it's because it's private. He did ask to be an ee
September 10th, 2012 at 10:46 AM ^
The more guys that enroll early, the better. Especially the o and d-line recruits.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:54 AM ^
Yeah, I wouldn't be pissed to see Dawson, Fox and/or Kugler added to that list.
September 10th, 2012 at 2:02 PM ^
There has been talks about Dawson being a potential EE. The guy on Rivals said that since he hasn't really gotten the process started yet, it is dobutful at this time.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:58 AM ^
The more kids that enroll early, the better chance we keep all these kids and they don't choose somewhere else, and has anyone heard news on Mathis,Treadwell and Green? I have heard nothing for weeks on these three
September 10th, 2012 at 11:13 AM ^
Mathis is a long shot.
I think we're a close #2 with Green.
Treadwell is a toss-up between Michigan and Oklahoma State, I think.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:18 AM ^
Michigan NEEDS Treadwell.
