I am not a huge NFL fan - mainy just cheer for Michigan alum. Thus - I am anxious to see where he lands. He is a great 3rd or 4th WR and great locker room leader.

I would say he'd be a great addition to the Browns as a veteran presence across from Josh Gordon but we've already got Devon Bess under contract for that and he hasnt posted any naked twitter pics of himself getting stoned or gotten arrested in airports in over a month so I think we're good.

I find it quite humorous when other teams' fans try to make digs at the Lions or their fans.  Like seriously?  I root for the goddamn Detroit Lions, what on earth could you possibly say that I don't already know and/or could get under my skin?

Lions fans are essentially sparring partners for world class boxers.  Our NFL hopes get beat up and ko'd for a living by the hardest punchers in the world.  Having someone slap us in the face feels no different to us than a fly landing on the nose of someone else.

I actually travelled to see that game and that catch alone made the trip worthwhile, in my opinion. Absolutely phenomenal, and indeed, probably one of the few times Tacopants has been intercepted. You have to be pretty damn good to get in the path of an otherwise easy grab for Tacopants, but Avant did it.

...that Avant did that in his old hometown of Chicago.  That is, if a kid from the South Side could ever regard the north shore in Evanston as his hometown.  Anyway, a real nice time and place to do that.

Probably my favorite player coming out of all of the years of Coach Carr's coaching tenure.

Damn them to hell. Fools. Hope he doesn't go to the lions. That would be the worst because that's the worst thing that can happen to a professional football player.

Never made flashy plays, but caught everything thrown his way and moved the sticks.  Also a willing and strong blocker in the run game.  Dependable and durable, exactly what you want in a slot receiver.  He will be missed.

That said, I'm excited to see what a Desean/Maclin/Ertz/Cooper/Celek tandem can do next year.  Foles will not be lacking options in the passing game even without Avant.

As someone above mentioned, the Eagles only released Avant due to salary cap limitations.

The Miracle at the New Meadowlands does not happen without Avant's block. Plays like this define Jason Avant's NFL career.

I will always remember Avant being routinely open for rather easy catches in 2005 and Henne air mailing him the ball forcing him to make ridiculous leaps and dives. He stole more passes from Tacopants than any Michigan WR to date.

Who would have thought that he has a better pro career than Braylon by that time?  Just looked at the catch and the video clip, we were so talented by that time.
