Some early dynasty news for anyone interested. Can't wait to start out as the defensive coordinator at Michigan then work my way to Ball State, then San Diego State, then back to Michigan as the head coach ;)

"...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up. "

Sounds like an interesting wrinkle and I'm looking forward to it. I just hope they've fixed player progression and recruiting this year. They were awful in '11.

recruiting and progression were decent post patch.

but ive always enjoyed starting at a crappy school and working my way up through the ranks, scheduling tough opponents in order to get to the big games.  this should make it just that much better.

i do hope they've revamped the campus legend mode though.  the only playable positions were qb and rb, and even those, just barely.  all they added between 09 and 11 was erin andrews.

Taking one of the coordinator jobs sounds interesting.  Looks like they've made improvements to tackling and defensive player movement this year as well.  No more warping defenders to slap down passes....hopefully.

I've really missed out on NCAA football since leaving college.  Tempted to buy a console to finally be able to play again.  It would likely be the only game I'd play, any advice as to which to get PS3 or xbox360?  And would used be an option or does internet registration and potential bans make that a bad idea?

3 questions:

1) do you already have a blu-ray player?

2) do you plan on playing online?

3)  if for some reason you do decide to start playing other games, do you like fps games or mlb basebal games more?

if the answer to 1 is no, then go for a ps3

else if the answer to 2 is yes, you need to choose between paying for the "highly stable and reliable" xbox live, and the free, "but you might get your credit card info stolen by hackers and sony won't tell you for a week" playstation network.  if that still doesn't help you make your decision...

else if the answer to 3 is baseball, go with ps3 (for The Show).  else, go with xbox, for halo and gears.

and i would suggest getting a new console.  definitely if you get an xbox, buy the new slim, as they've fixed the red ringing issue and it comes with integrated wifi and a bunch of other improvements.

well i would honestly throw that out the window.  the 200 xbox slim has too small of a HD.  quite a bit of online functionality is lost with the 4 GB HD.  and the old HDs are not very compatible with the slim.  youre better off going with the 300 dollar version and getting the full HD.

but seriously, if youre going to spend 250ish dollars, 50 dollars one way or another really isnt all that significant.

I own both and all I use a PS3 for is Blu-Ray and Uncharted (PS3 has a couple exclusive titles that are good, but X-Box has multiple exclusives too). I will say that I have had the X-Box longer but I greatly prefer the feel of the X-Box controller to the PS3 and I only buy both console games on X-Box. If you have never really played either console I would recommend X-Box. If you plan on playing multiplayer (such as Call of Duty) definately go with X-Box, the live interface is much better and there are way more online members.

P.S. - I cannot confirm that this is still an issue, but I know that the X-Box is easier to code for and this allows developers to use a higher Frames Per Second rate than PS3. More than a few of the original games would be 60 FPS on X-Box and only 30 FPS on PS3, I do not know if all games continue to do this, but worth noting.

Thanks, I don't own a blueray player but I also have no interest in bluray movies(owning is a waste of money, and netflix streaming is so much easier).  Looks like the Slim is the way to go, and if I do want a harddrive bigger than 4GB I can buy one for less than the 250GB model.  Gonna wait a few months since I'll have no use for it until NCAA12 comes out.

Get the 360 slim. Could get a PS3 too, but a lot  of people play on 360. Plus, many of the issues that used to plague 360's like red rings are pretty much eliminated, or reduced heavily.

As above said, a PS3 might be useful for blu-ray watching but the 360 is a better console IMO

okay, let me clear this up: buy a gaming system for the gaming experience not for the stupid gadgets that come with it. I didn't buy my couch because it could also fry egg...therefore I bought a 360 because the experience is much better. less cheating, more moderation for jerkoffs, no one has hacked the entire XBL system to a screeching halt for two months. YES you pay for xbl HOWEVER its like $50 a year and if you can't afford that or that's some ungodly sum to you, you shouldn't be buying a system at all. xbox360 >>>>>>>>>> ps3. Unless you want the gadgets like a blue ray player and free identity theft service.

The PS3 all the way. I also recommend that you go ahead and spend the extra $50.00 and buy it brand new. I haven't seen to many used gaming systems(360/PS3) that are under 200.  Just spend the money on a new PS3 and you will not be disappointed;wireless internet, blueray player.

But really, that's a great idea. You can import players from College to Madden...how long before you can do the same with coaches? How awesome would it be at the end of the season if instead of saying "Texas, USC offer their position, and Michigan offers a 5 year extension it added...."and the Jets would like to throw millions at you".  Accept. Import to Madden.

Cant wait for this game to come out. I love the new addition of being able to be an OC or DC and work your way up.

To Farnn: Get a PS3. Especially if you are a baseball fan. The Show is by far the best game I have ever played. Online is now fixed, and with all the new security measures Sony has taken, PSN should not get hacked into again. That is just what I read so I really have no clue about what to expect.

Holy shit. Create a coach mode?

That sounds like a lot of fun. New wrinkle into the game. I hope there aren't any flaws with this mode though. If executed right it could be really interesting.

I haven't played NCAA since 2005 so I really need to get back in the fray. :(

We can change division names. That means no more Legends and Leaders. That plus not having to do a 1 for 1 swap when editing conferences is the news I'm most happy about.

This should be loads of fun especially if you and a friend can take over as OC/DC at the same lower school and see who can work their way up faster.

Not to mention fully customizable conferences which is just too cool for words.

If the gameplay is even slightly better than it was in '10 (I skipped '11) then this is like opening day must buy.

FYI Madden Franchise upgrades sound cool as hell too.

It's nice to have an EA Sports game which is actually different and doesn't offer minor improvements year after year. :)

(At least I hope LOL)

They need to add a "you're the next Ray Lewis" pitch to the recruiting system.

But seriously, they do need to improve the recruiting function. It lags around when you're scrolling through players and it takes an hour to recruit for one week in the season. Other than that I've always loved the NCAA series.
