Wow that's awesome...saw them in the first game of the year and didn't know if they had the team this year. Then again, they weren't playing the same competition.

Now he can learn that Harbaugh playbook.

IIRC, two of the teams they played in their first four games were defending state champions in their classes and another was ranked #2 in a different state.  Whatever the case, they played three elite teams in their first four games.

It turned out to be a great move.

Awesome. I saw OSU commit, Tate Martell, led his Bishop Gorman team to what will be their third straight national title. Both will be walking into QB rooms with talent in front of them. Who knows what the future holds, but we could be on our way to a heckuva showdown at the end of each year with these two.

He has bulked up a little since last year but he is still skinny. Probably closer to 185 than 200. Footwork and mechanics are impeccable, as you would expect. When he has time in the pocket he finds the open receiver and throws a beautiful ball, high release, great accuracy and touch, tight spiral on everything. He avoids pressure well but when he moves up in the pocket he pulls down the ball and runs. When he escapes outside he keeps eyes up and throws accurately on the run. This is where he looks like a 5 star.

One weird thing - he doesn't have the zip on the ball you would expect to see from a top prospect. The only other high school blue chip I have seen play in person was Drew Henson - his balls were ropes all over the field. Not sure if it is velocity or release but McCafferty's passes hang a little. Reminds me of Payton Manning last season - it just makes you nervous.

He'll need to put on 20-30 lbs of muscle his redshirt year to have a chance to compete. Hopefully that will solve the hanging ball issue and make him more willing to move around and throw in the pocket.

Jedd Fisch and Jim Harbaugh were both on the field after the game today.

I noticed in his scouting reports the main con any scout writes about is his arm strength. Some kids have all the velocity in the world though, but can't hit a tight window with a throw consistently. I think this kid is going to be special. Keep in mind, probably won't see the field for 2-3 years unless absolutely needed.
