DVR: BTN Michigan vs Florida 2008 Bowl Game 8pm

Submitted by goblue85 on

Relieve the classic bowl game.   We dominated Gators and Urban.    Carr last game as Michigan coach.

I remember watching it having no real thoughts of what the next several seasons would behold, but it was fun indeed. As I recall, Henne threw for 3 TDs, two to Arrington and one to Manningham, and Hart rushed for two more. Florida's damage was done by Tebow, Percy Harvin and Andre Caldwell, I believe. Seems like it was long ago now and it really wasn't.

If the result of HARBAUGH is a team that plays like we did in this game, in terms of toughness, skill, scheme and not backing down from talented opponents, we are all going to be very happy with the years to come

This game is just depressing for more reasons than one.

That team should have been in a BCS game.

Everyone asking "where the fuck was this play and playcalling all year long?"

The RR commentary talking about the future.

Any productive offensive player vanishing after the game.

Thought we had no chance, wish we'd been healthy that season and opened up the playbook sooner than that bowl game,

In the minority here but Mike Hart is my favorite UM player ever...

Pound for pound the toughest player I've seen.

This may have been the last truly great game Michigan has won.

Sad to think that this is what that team should've looked like all year. Had they played like this from Day 1, they could've very well played for a national title. Or at least been in a BCS game.

Neg away but I still love Crable. If not for that one play everyone would feel the same.

I didn't realize Brandon Spikes went to Florida. It's getting to the point where it's hard to argue that it's just a coincidence all these former Florida players under Urbs in NFL are having major off the field issues

when I say that this game is the last time I felt we "looked like Michigan". In every way outside of one I'll mention in a second. It's a bittersweet game as it's as if Carr trolled us. It's like this hand was his way of saying "when healthy I had teams where I could have TOTALLY contended for national titles of I wanted to, as you can see. I just.....didn't." It's crazy. Nobody can tell me to this day who called that offensive game and why we suddenly knew the basic fundamentals of trying to slow down a spread offense. It felt so good to stomp urban, tebow & the defending champs. So good. It was good to see Carr go out on top as the game want even as close as the score indicated. Yet, I felt trolled. I still do! It's like Carr was making some anti-RR "see, I can open it up, too" statement in his final game. Not ever other year he coached but his last game. The last time we "looked like Michigan" to me. Geehhhh...

I didn't expect us to win this game.  I don't think we knew the exact health of Henne and Hart going into the game but they could barely walk against OSU.  Tebow had just won the Heisman and the media had already declared his status of being able to walk on water and cure cancer.

During previews for those day's games on ESPN, they showed a shot of the Michigan Marching Band marching to the stadium and a bunch of UF fans on the sidewalk rolling their eyes and sarcatically giving them the Gator chomp as if they were annoyed they were stuck playing us.

Then there was the shot of the Florida players taunting our guys in warmups and I said, "Fuck those guys.  Now I really, REALLY want to win."

That was probably the only game in my lifetime where I went into thinking we had no shot and then afterwards, being greedy thinking we should have won by MORE than we actually did.
