Jim Harbaugh has a good rolodex of coaches he believes are excellent at their jobs.  Its just a fact we are going to lose coaches under Harbaugh, which is the exact opposite of the Carr, Rodriguez, Hoke eras where no one left because they were good at what they did.

I'll live with that.

Someone in the other Durkin thread made a good point in that coordinators are not under contract. IMHO, I think he did this to solidify a bargaining stance should that arise. Or at least that's what my maize and blue glasses are letting me see right now

He's out at Philly after the season, and Kevin Plank will spend a stupid amount of money to make them the Oregon of the B1G.

For now we are safe with Durkin....

and I think that scenario might play out

If Durkin leaves, Harbaugh will go for Shafer (and some argued that maybe Shafer shouldn't have been fired from Syracuse yet...although that's a tire fire...and I hate that I even mentioned Syracuse now that I think about it..

to start growing so soon. If he does get the job, then all the best and I'm sure other top DC will look at Michigan as football success and a possible stepping stone to HC job. I would hate to lose him but we will probably get another great DC if MD hires him.

There's a part in me (and maybe I'm crazy), that sees Hoke an asset if he's being asked to do very specific tasks, namely recruiting and being responsible for one group on the defense.

Hoke has said he wants to be a HC again but I doubt he gets anything even in this year's market where there are a lot of vacancies.

If Durkin is gone we need to replace his recruiting skills (I don't think there will be a drop off in coaching given the overall quality of this staff).
