I guess Dunn is done.
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
I guess Dunn is done.
Why do we no longer quote Alanis lyrics? I miss this more than I should...
I thought Michigan was almost a Dunn deal for him
Onward and upward.
Do we still go after Wes Brown or just take the 5 best players on the board?
I really like Wes Brown but even if we go after him I just don't think the interest is there.
He announced a top 5 and we are not included
You beat me by a minute. Damn.
Maybe Brady can work some magic.
Good luck Mr. Dunn.
I'm hoping they go 11-2 every year. I'd love to beat their ass twice a season when they're good.
well hopefully for us it'll be except two games a year.
dammit, too slow again.
I had a feeling this was gonna happen. There was just too much buckeye in him but its all good. We got Fitz for another 2 years with some young guys in the background and Ty Isaac in 2013 hopefully.
giving other rival blogs meltdown ammo.
on campus yet, he isn't an EE anymore, and his official is scheduled for January. Don't forget he reaffirmed his commitment earlier too. Look what's happened since then. I'll be worried when he signs his LOI with another team. And then I'll laugh when I realize that Pipkins will demolish anyone in his path in a couple years.
I would be shocked if he still visited UM after this news.
before I saw the Scout article that someone linked to. Still, I don't think this is over until he actually signs his LOI.
this situation is very different now since he knows who will be head coach. Unless we are pleasantly surprised with their sanctions, looks like it's over.
At least Ty Isaac is high on us. Ace, how would you compare Isaac and Dunn?
Haven't seen either in person, but looking at tape, Isaac is faster and more dynamic but less powerful. He reminds me more of Fitz Toussaint while Dunn reminds me of Anthony Thomas. Think they'll probably end up in about the same range in terms of rankings.
Isaac put up over 500 yards in the state title game (and his team lost, somehow...)—he's gonna be a heck of a pickup for someone, and Michigan and Notre Dame look like his early leaders.
Ace, is there any chance we pursue another RB? I know it's been pretty much the hunt for Dunn to date, but might the coaches look at someone like Garmon?
Garmon was leaning towards Iowa last I checked, but hadn't ruled out Michigan, so we could see Hoke try to pull him in if he really wants a RB in this class. Wes Brown is no longer an option. Other than those two, I don't think we go after another back in this class. Have enough depth that it's best to fill needs elsewhere and focus on getting two quality backs in the '13 class. That said, if Garmon shows interest, I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches tried to get him—tough to turn down four-star backs, and at 6'2", 200 pounds he fits the mold of what this staff wants in a RB.
I believe Issac is already in the 30's in 247sports' Top247. I believe that is significantly higher than Dunn in every rating service except Scout, to which he is a 5-star.
I was trying to avoid the "sour grapes" accusations, but yeah, Isaac will likely end up higher-rated. He almost certainly will if he even just replicates his junior numbers—he went HAM this year. Kid could be a consensus five-star if he gets better next year.
Ah, well then, you are a better man than I. At least I tried my best to bring you down to my level.
It'll also be interesting to see how Drake Johnson develops. Thanks for the response!
Ace, Isaac reminds you of Fitz Toussaint? Like, our 5'10" shifty jitterbug?
Ty Isaac is 6'3", 215, and has a long, gliding stride that's deceptively fast. He's nowhere near as agile as Toussaint, because he obeys the laws of physics as we know them.
To me (Fred Jackson Time!) he looks a lot like Eric Dickerson. Or, if you're dying for a Michigan comparison, maybe a smoother, less physical Chris Perry, or Tall Carlos Brown with Balance.
If Isaac reminds you of Dickerson (SMU alum), then who will play the Craig James role in a hypothetical UM backfield?
More important question. Will the person playing Craig James kill five hookers?
I don't know of any recruits that have allegedly KILLED 5 HOOKERS LIKE CRAIG JAMES.
As someone who grew up a Rams fan (up till they moved to St. Louis) I hope the Dickerson comparison rings true. I could handle another Chris Perry as well - especially since he has another year ni HS to get stronger.
Good luck to Dunn. I hope he goes 0-4 in The Game.
Yep, good luck to him. I hope he's a stellar blocking back in all but 1 game a year.
... plus who would believe a skinny overpaid bow-tie wearing public administrator who reeks of bones in the closet. I would rather have a PSU asst watch my kids than place them in the care of the OSU family...Mo C, Troy Smith... star players at OSU don't fair too well post-Columbus... given Urban's permissive nature I imagine TPeezy's "everybody murders" to be back in style late Fall 2012.
Best of luck to the kid. He's probably going to wish he hadn't when hes an after thought in that offense.
In other news, Dymonte Thomas was offered by OSU today...
He gave a good lol at that offer too.
He's also only a junior in high school who is close to Dunn. It was long rumored that wherever Dunn went was where Dymonte would go. About the only person that I'm 100% sure will end up at UM in any class is Shane Morris
But he tweeted this:
One thing ive learned since following recruiting is never take what recruits say seriously. You never know with that scumbag Meyer, he might pull out a blank check and pay Dymonte. I dont like that hes offering our guys, bastard. Long time til this ones over...
love that kid.
Urban Meyer is quickly becoming my most hated B1G coach, and with Dantonio and Bielema in the conference, that's not easy to do.
Don't forget Danny Hope.
Can we really be that mad at him? Oh no, we didn't flip one of his recruits! Dunn could at most be considered uncommitted the past month or so, but he has always said he was commited to Ohio, and were his favorite growing up. MSU and PSU should be the ones mad at him.
Meyer has never run a thug program.
Urban Meyer is quickly becoming my most hated B1G coach, and with Dantonio and Bielema in the conference, that's not easy to do.
Don't hate Meyer just because he has had some recruiting success. If you want to hate Meyer, hate him for the shameless whining that kept us out of the 06 NCG.
"I have seen the end...none were spared, not even the children."
He could have been 4-0 in the Game, he chose to be 0-4. His loss.
Give himself a chance to flip if Oho does get hit with sanctions.
Urban bought what he was told by Gee and Smith, Urban sold it to Dunn. Major sanctions probably were/are the biggest going in Michigan's favor.
Yah, I thought the same thing. Oh well, good for him. It was obvious that this recruitment was weighing on him. I'm sure he'll sleep a little better now.
The early enrolling thing may have only been a concern if he were coming here (so he could avoid dealing with hostile Buckeye fans from January-June).
It's all good. Next year we'll sign the double fisted fury, two headed train of pain of Isaac/Shallman.
He had to drop EE for academic reasons per Sam Webb, nothing more
I wish so much bad towards him... I hope every carry he gets gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
You sound like a Sparty or Bucknut fan.
To be fair, I think hoping that he just doesn't gain many (any?) yards is pretty much in-bounds. I mean, he's toeing the line, but there's no wish for injury, illness, arrest, etc. Personally, I hope that Dunn goes to OSU, enjoys very little success, decides to focus on his first love and becomes a broadway star,* ending his football career with 1.1 ypc. Success in life, failure in football. This is the most I can possibly extend to a Buckeye.
You're giving too much credit to embittered Spartans and Buckeyes here, IME.
*Deep, deep insider shit here, friends.
wait guys... why arent we gonna go rcmb on this!!!!!!! i mean i know he wasnt ever committed to us but still. no "i hope he breaks his cock" or "fuck i hope this fucker dies" too bad... oh wait... we have class...
An interesting demonstration of class you've got there.
Sometimes the heart prevails. I wish him the best. It'll be fun to see him and Dymonte on the field at the same time...btw Dymonte received an offer from Ohio today.
The recruiting battles between Hoke and Meyer are going to epic in the years to come. Kind of disappointed but we'll survive. Good luck getting Dymonte to switch Urb. Kid bleeds maize and blue!
Favorable for what? Urban got a kid that was already commited and two we turned away.
seems like that's what he always wanted in his heart, can't blame him at all for that
OSU has obviously been his dream school from day 1, I get the feeling that he went into his OSU visit looking for a reason to be blown away by Meyer so it would make his decision easier, and he (unsuprisingly) was. I know this is just going to seem like a angry Michigan fan trying to rationalize the news, but I don't think this hurts the class too much, honestly. With Fitz's emergance he would only have gotten a few years, and we have some good options in next year's class already. He is a solid back but not great imo, his highlight film didn't really impress me but that's just the kind of player he is. I wish him the best getting 5 carries per game as a lead blocker for Braxton Miller.
Been saying this for a week, and I'll say it again. Ty Isaac>Bri'onte Dunn. Not sour grapes, just think Isaac is better. I have not seem them in person, but from the clips I have watched, I think Isaac is more explosive and has better vision. He will also put on more weight once in college, eve n though he is not exactly small.
....we hardly knew ye. Good luck except in a certain Game.
The class already looks pretty good though, I think. They've got this over at Schembechler.
Oh well. At the end of the day, he's the one who's going to have to go up against our defense. He should ask Boom Herron what that's like.
But more room for other recruits that are more of a necessity, right?
It ain't over until the fat lady sings.
refirm is not a word
Oh well...not going to be the first recruit battle we lose to Meyer.
With that said, we still have plenty of guys on the board and we're going to have a PHENOMINAL class!
There. Fixed that for you.
It ain't over until the fat lady sings. Unless he early enrolls at Ohio, Dunn has until signing day to change his mind. The NCAA could announce some sanctions before then that change his mind.
Sam Webb always said his heart was with the buckeyes, if a guy grows up bleeding scarlet and grey and gets a chance to play for them, you really can't begrudge it. That said I really hope he develops horrible fumble-itis whenever he plays us.
Well this sucks. Washington, Pittman, Schutt, and now Dunn. Urban's cleaning up.
It's weird how recruiting seemed to be going so much better for Hoke before we went 10-2 and got a BCS bowl. I mean, since September we've picked up Darboh and Drake Johnson and lost Pharaoh Brown and Anthony Standifer.
Isn't that a wash? 2 for 2? Just depends on which position you value more highly, and we're in on some good replacements for the guys that left.
Not saying that he won't be good, but it's not like puling in Drake Johnson was some great recruiting accomplishment considering that his only other offer was from Eastern Michigan. And I don't know, in the last week Payton, Diggs, Dunn, McNamara and some other guys have all fallen off the board.
Payton is still not off the baord yet. Diggs didnt show up for our visit. Dunn always liked Ohio. McNamara-we didnt show any interest until he took his final visit. not time to work him. I dont really care who Urban gets this year. I am just sick and tired of the media glowing over his recruiting this year. I think hoke has done a better job so far. Urban will always have his name and his rings.
As far as that goes, Hoke was putting together an elite class back before he ever won a game, when people questioned his ability to do so. amd when our defense was a trainwreck. Meyer has the advantage of riding in on a white horse and portraying himself as the savior of a program that's been on top for a long time. What he's accomplishing is nothing compared to what Hoke has done for us.
Best class in my memory and you're crapping the bed because some prospects fell off the board. Dammit...get you some of these:
How is any of this flamebait? Is there some less offensive way for me to state that not many guys have committed to Michigan since September and this seems a little bit odd given the incredible season we've had?
I dont think its flamebait, but you should re-think things. Coach Hoke has done a great job so far. There is no reason to get down. Since the season started, we didnt have many spots left. Not sure what you want. We missed out all an Ohio commit, good for Urban. We will see come Nov next year.
Diggs and McNamara weren't even on the board before the season, though, and I don't remember whether Payton was, either. It's hard to call those losses.
More generally, very few recruits commit during the season, since they're busy with their own high school seasons. In addition to that, we had filled all but a few spots before September, so decommitments were just as likely as commitments no matter how the season went. Lastly, at this point, most kids are waiting for the all star games or Signing Day, which is just the way it is. Sure, there's stuff happening in Columbus, but that's because they signed a new, big name coach. No need to worry.
Washington loved Ohio, so did Pittman. Schutt really had no where else to go, once ND wasnt his choice. Dunn grew up loving Ohio. What is urban cleaning up. He was always going to recruit well. We will see how he does next year.
I'm sure that he'll do well next year. So will we. Assuming that OSU doesn't get bombed by sanctions (and maybe even if they do), they're going to be good for awhile. I think that's a good thing. Sure, when Michigan's down, I'd like to see OSU down, too, so that we can win some of those games. When we're strong, though - and I think we're going to be strong for some time - there won't be anything more fun than Michigan-OSU week when both programs are powerhouses with a shot at the Rose Bowl / national title.
Washington, Pittman, and Dunn would have been committed to Ohio long ago. Schutt would have stayed at PSU. This is a predictable return to the mean, given no one believes there will be any sanctions.
I'm really not particularly a fan of a return to the mean, given that it involved Michigan losing to Ohio most of the time.
Still, Urban hasn't yet taken any Michigan targets except for Dunn, who was already committed, so we'll have to wait and see.
Ohio wouldn't begin pulling recruits again. It's disappointing that the scandal of lies and tats lasted only one year, while our stretchgate seemed to extend forever. But it's over. Ohio was always going to get a good coach, assuming no sanctions, and they're always going to pull kids. Just like Michigan.
1990's: Michigan 7-2-1 vs. Ohio
2000-2011: Michigan 3-8 vs. Ohio
Total time period 1990 to present: 10-10-1. This is the mean.
Excuse my shitty memory but when did we lose standifer?
Better check the boards a little more often....
why couldn't you just say he parted ways with UM a few weeks ago? or if you are incapable of being informative, you could have been funny. either would have worked instead of telling someone to spend more time on the internet.
Why do you excuse people who don't have any initiative to do things for themselves?
"Spend more time on the internet"? Type in *Anthony Standifer decommit* into google and the answer miraculously appears!
Plenty of great backs we've already offered for 2013
Wake me up on Signing Day.
Interesting thing to think about. How good of a recruiter is Urban Meyer if he convinced a power running back to commit to a team that runs the spread and to a coach who has never had a running back eclipse 1000 yards? I mean, that must've been one hell of a sales pitch. Should be some good recruiting battles from here on out.
I'm betting he just played up his love for Ohio in the same way Hoke does for Michigan. Since Dunn is a lifelong fan I'm sure that would hit home. That said I think he's a better liar than recruiter at this point. From what I've heard from him so far I don't think he's as in love with Ohio as he says. Lacks the passion for his school of a Brady Hoke.
You're forgetting the part about Dunn being a life long Buckeye fan.
I don't think that's a fair assessment. Dunn was willingly to believe anything to go to OSU. Dunn wanted to go to OSU so bad, if Urban Meyer said he'd run the ball out of the I-form 80% of the game, I think that kid believes it. I thought we had an honest shot with the kid until I looked at his twitter feed. You can tell this kid was in agony over this decision b/c he really wanted to be a Buckeye. He's where he should be. I see him being one of those backs who break out in NFL that have a lackluster college career (Arian Foster comes to mind).
I also have the feeling that Meyer wanted to keep Dunn away from Michigan, moreso than he wanted him in his own offense.
Like I said below, I just believe Meyer will be good at telling the recruits what they want to hear. And I agree with your last sentence.
I sign 5 star players in NCAA 12 that I just end up cutting because I don't want other teams to get them.
Not to denigrate the considerable buzz that Meyer is generating - and it is considerable, but when you dig a little deeper he is not really the snake oil saleman he may seem with at least Shutt, Pittman and Dunn.
Meyer is in honeymoon period at traditional power that was rudderless until he was hired. He has not flipped one M recruit who the Bucknuts guaranteed would flip to Ohio once a coach was hired (Strobel, Kalis, Bolden in particular)
He has flipped a guy from Penn State that is mired in a worse scandal and more uncertainty that Ohio. He has flipped a guy from MSU who has said all along that he wasnt going to go to MSU if something better came along. He picked up a guy that was already committed.
While all are great players - shocka - Ohio has always signed great players.
With no instate competition to speak of, not even a resurgent Michigan could keep any Ohio coach from recruiting well. While his non-Tebow teams were not that great, in the weak half of the B1G, he should have enough success to keep the pipelines supplying him with talent.
I'm not one of those guys who are overreacting. I'm just saying he seems good at telling the recruits what they want to hear, and to your point, he should be able to create some pipelines.
Dunn was a lifetime OSU fan, who had already committed to the school quite some time ago. It was very strange that he honestly considered UM as closely as he did - if anything, his recruiting saga points to just how good Hoke et al. are on the trail. Snake oil this is not.
Never said it was snake oil! I just think that he is a good recruiter who is good at telling the kids what they want to hear. I'm just saying there will be some good battles.
Boy you really fucking burned him on that one.
I wasn't trying to burn everyone. Just saying he's a good recruiter. He's not gonna shut down the border like tressel did, but there should be some good battles.
Wow, that was hilarious pind*ck.... Seriously the troll level around here lately is insane. It was never this bad when RR was coach, makes me think you Ohio and MSU fans are scared.
What's hilarious? Me saying that Urban Meyer is a good recruiter and he and Hoke will have some good battles? Nothing I said was intended to be a joke or backhanded.
Now he and Warren Ball can split 15 carries a game for the rest of their college careers.
on to the next one....
His loss. Are any other big time schools in on Ty Isaac yet like we are?
Clearly it's our loss too, or we wouldn't have recruited him so hard.
I wonder if the staff was expecting this, which is why they just happened to stop by and see Issac today...
I think it's his loss when it comes to scheme. I think he's going to have a great YPC average, but a very low total number of carries in Urban's offense.
I would agree with this. He'd be better off under our scheme for sure. But the phrase "It's your loss" is one of my pet peeves because on almost every occasion when someone says it, it's a lie. In this case, it's also false. Michigan would be better off having Brionte Dunn commit to Michigan, so it really is Michigan's loss that he committed to Ohio.
Man, we need to raise the point level for people to be able to moderate. I don't really understand why I keep getting negged. I'm not saying anything that seems that controversial to me. I'm not bashing Hoke. Hoke's a great recruiter. Hoke Uber Alles. I'm not bashing Rich Rod. I'm not really bashing anyone except for the people on the board who want to pretend that Michigan not getting a recruit that it wanted seems like a good thing. Michigan didn't get Brionte Dunn to decommit from Ohio. Urban Meyer has pulled in like 3 four-star recruits in the past week. Michigan has pulled in like 1 four-star guy since September. This doesn't mean that Hoke is a better recruiter than Meyer, and there are reasons that this is happening that have nothing to do with recruiting ability (i.e. Michigan's class is nearly complete already and one of the best in the nation) but it is what it is. Granted, Michigan's class is nearly complete anyway and one of the best in the nation, but we have like 5 slots left for elite guys at any position, and so far, we haven't been getting many of those guys and a lot of possibilities for those slots have been falling off the board. This is not that good of a thing (in the context of a recruiting class that is already great, I should probably add), and it is puzzling given that we've had tremendous on-field success and a lot of good press that none of Payton, Diamond, Garnett, Diggs, Dunn, or Banner have decided to commit to Michigan.
In all of my posts, I have stated mostly facts, and then I have the value judgement that it is good when guys that Hoke is recruiting commit to Michigan and it is bad when they commit to other places, and worst of all when they commit to one of Michigan's rivals. Why I continue to be negged for posting such things is beyond me. It is as if there are people on this board who will regard anything other than relentless positivity, optimism and rationalization as trolling. We certainly wouldn't be talking about how great Ty Isaac is or how we're glad that Dunn is with OSU because his heart wasn't with Michigan or how Fred Jackson says that Thomas Rawls is like Mark Ingram but more elusive if Dunn had committed to Michigan. In fact, if Dunn had committed to Michigan and someone posted that they didn't want Dunn because he was an OSU fan at heart, they'd probably get negged, and rightly so.
I created a thread about Standifer decommitting (that was promptly deleted?) and said something similar: it'll raise an eyebrow to see that recruitment has somewhat slumped for Michigan despite the best class in the B1G+ND so far and a 10-2 BCS berth season. You'd think that all the momentum would be in our favor unless a player has been die-hard for another school his whole life.
I had like 5 negs before the post was taken down.
I think it's his loss when it comes to scheme. I think he's going to have a great YPC average, but a very low total number of carries in Urban's offense.
How is this our loss, we never had him. always was committed to Ohio, albeit soft.
Let it go...on to the next one.
With Dunn, the existing class, add Schutt, Pittman and maybe Spence and Diamond, their class will be very good and even maybe top ten when it's all done. Yes they always have a great class but with the scandal I was hoping they would take a step back.
But...we have a GREAT class and all indications point to the 2013 class being just as good.
Good for Dunn. Followed his heart which is what you've got to do. We'll eagerly anticipate his next visit to Ann Arbor in November of 2013.
Ohio is loaded, and I mean LOADED with talent in the 2013 class. Urban wont be able to sign all of them
Not even close to the end of the world, i dont want anyone splitting touches with an upperclassmen toussaint anyways, and by the time he is gone ty issac (if we get him) will be a sophomore or rs freshman.......or who knows, maybe rawls or hayes will develop.
Good luck to Dunn. He must be a Buckeye at heart. He went there despite some huge disadvantages:
- The possibility of major sanctions
- An offense that is not suited to his skill set
- The inferiority of OSU's academic programs
head to head for an uncommitted recruit, consider me indifferent toward who Ohio gets. They'll get theirs. We'll get ours. It only matters one day a year who's better.
Congrats to him. Wish him the best 11 weeks out of the season.
i know urban is a good coach and will get recruits. but to allow him to recruit right now while against the rules is bullshit. delany is a asshole for allowing this. and i have heard meyer didnt like the cheating in the sec and thats why he left. now he is poaching players while he shouldnt be allowed to recruit. i hope ncaa comes down hard i always prefer a good osu team to play but i hope they get bitch slapped now.
@S_Morris12: Everyone chill about Dunn! With or without him we're still going to win championships! #GoBlue
This kid is awesome. I love his attitude.
Sure, I would have liked o have Dunn, but we will move on. Wasn't justice hayes a high 4*? Haven't heard much about his development but he and fitz (or rawls ad fitz) could make for a strong running game over the next few years.
Rivals #3 APB, #85 in the country; #14 RB to Scout; #22 to ESPN
RS this year (I'm nearly positive), likely due to his size. He should be a great 3rd down option after Vincent Smith leaves, may see time at slot, and could be the next Fitz depending on what size he ends up playing at. We should be very excited about him, and he's been on the roster for a year. Not a big back like Dunn, though, and it seems Borges/Hoke want that.
Michigan will have a chance to devote their time and efforts to other prospects. Tough to overcome a childhood favorite. But I do hope he shares the same fate other RBs have had under Urban Meyer - failure.
I thought I'd be in pain when the sky inevitably fell? What's going on here? I feel nothing.
I mean I am not happy, but honestly, there was too much drama. Lets finish this class up with Yuri, Garnett, Chesson, Grant, and Payton/Modaris/Boehm/Or any other line. Let's create the most dominant line to ever walk the face of this planet. I wanna see some huge a** Mo-Fos just owning everyone.
Michigan vs. Ohio. Hoke vs. Meyer. We are going to put the rest of the B1G back into its place. I am getting pumped for this.
Kid handled the process with class, hope he has a great career, except for the last saturday in November. With all that said i'm glad we won't have to go through this for another 2 months.
All good, after our D destroys him and OSU he will be literaly bleeding scarlett and grey.
Dunn will make a great 500 yds/year back for osu.
Hopefully he'll have an excellent career at Ohio blocking for Braxton Miller.
Disappointing, but good luck to the young man.
Well, it's too bad we didn't get him. But lets move on, build some OL depth, and get Ty Isaac in the 2013 class. Go Blue!
Urban will flop at Ohio.
With that, he will make a great 3rd and 1 back in the spread offense.
it's really a joke that OSU was involved in several ncaa violations and almost certainly involved in a whole bunch more and they're going to come out better for it on the other side. What a freakin joke the whole NCAA discipline process is
took all the snake oil before he shredded his documents.
Well this sucks, but we'll be just fine without him. Would've felt great to pull the second coup of their top-tier recruits. He's a buckeye through and through. I wish him well but he'll face some challenges in that offense.
This kid NEEDS to go to OSU, I dont want him and I really really wish this is the end of it and he stays committed to OSU... His heart was never truly with Michigan, he was only showing interest because of the circumstances down at Ohio. This marriage was not going to turn out well in my opinion because he does'nt bleed maize and blue. He's meant to be a Buckeye and that's ok... its no the end of the world.
This may even turn out to be good for Michigan as we can use that extra scholarship for another greater position of need such as OL (w/ highly rated guys still in the fold like Garnett, Kozan, Diamond etc.) and DB (Wright/Reeves). Plus, we've got Fitz for two more years and Rawls waiting on the sidelines. I wish the kid the best except on every last Saturday of November.
Well I for one wish we had gotten Dunn. Also, if you think we're completely set with Rawls, you might have been listening to Fred Jackson a little bit too much.
good for him. I hope he is a complete bust.
Please try to become familiar with the community's sentiment towards recruits that decide to go elsewhere. We should not be wishing harm on a 17-18 year old kid who is under a lot of pressure. We have to uphold some standards here that our colleagues in Columbus and East Lansing are unable to.
I wasn't talking to you dude. I think he yanked us around as well. I was talking to the guy who said he hoped he was a bust.
Ed: I am glad its over too. The buzz on these boards reminded me of the Pryor fiasco. I'm glad that Dunn had the strength of character to go with his convictions instead of prolonging the circus. Best of luck to him.
Please try to become familiar with how threads work on MGoBlog. We have to uphold some standards here that our colleagues in Columbus and East Lansing are unable to.
If Ohio is where he wants to be, that is where he should. No hard feelings.
No time to panic ... We already landed one of the top running backs in the known world .. Drake Johnson .. I can see why some running backs would shy away when they see his name on the incoming roster
Now, more than ever, I want that school to suffer several years of bowl ban and loss of scholarships.
ohio still needs to meet their maker... you never know what some snctions could do. although with the way the NCAA has been acting we are SOL.
The reason recruiting has sped up so much for them is because it was basically in a stand-still until they figured out their coaching situation and what was going to happen with their sanctions. While we still don't know for sure what's going to happen with the NCAA violations, it appears like nothing major is going to happen. Washington, Pittman, and Dunn were all locks to go to Ohio long before anything good started happening for Michigan. With the hire of Meyer (rhyme!), this just made everything that should have happened in the first place happen. People are freaking the fuck out because he's gotten 4 commitments-2 from guys who had them as their leader from the beginning, one guy who never technically decommitted, and another from a guy who got turned down by his first 2 choices and left his third because Penn State is in the middle of a shit tornado for the forseeable future.
They're all good players, but Ohio's class was nothing to write home about before their commitments. They're going from average to good, which is what they should and always will be when it comes to recruiting.
It must be easy to have one coach recruit, and one team coach the bowl game. Typical Ohio State.
Guess that frees up a scholie for Demar Dorsey
Would love to see this, depth chart be damned.
He is a good player but his heart was never Blue, let it be and lets move on...
Is it possible that we would take 2 WRs (Chesson & Payton) with our last 5 spots?
That would be hilarious.
Wish him best at Ohio. His heart was never blue. And
Playing Behring Fitz and Rawls would stink: )
I love everything that I have seen from Thomas Rawls so far. I'm excited to see his progress.
New season of teen mom 2 starts now.
Now people can get on with their shopping with a clear mind.
Was a clone of Beanie Wells and then I watched highlight films of both. Not even close. IMO Dunn is no more talented than S. Hopkins, and if he came to A2 without his heart fully in it, he would have pulled a Boren at the 1st sign of adversity. Good luck kid. Looking forward to beating you down for the next four years.
I have to agree that I was not overwhelmed with Dunn or Schutt's video. Sevon, however, looked real good on some video from a camp.
I was all excited when it sounded like Schutt was going to visit UM. That enthusiam left after I watched his video. He didn't look anything like a 5*. Next thing the UM staff said "no thanks" and then Pipkins came on board.
I guess this is the next best thing, if he wasn't going to come to Michigan. He may as well get lost in an offense with a coach who has never produced a 1000 yard rusher (I don't know if anybody has mentioned that yet on this blog /s) so we don't have to worry about his skills. While he is busy blocking all game for Braxton, he can watch our stable of running backs put up Heisman caliber stats. Dunn, it's not too late...we will still welcome you into the light!
Or conversely, Meyer gets caught up in trying to do things with big backs that don't fit his schemes and is uncomfortable with, and thus becomes mediocre.
what the hell? I'm two beers into the night and I have no idea what the fuck this is supposed to mean.
It means we've moved on from Dunn and are looking at new players for the running back position, Perkins being one of them.
I imagine you being your avatar and the two beers getting you wasted.
Im glad hes going to OSU. He wasnt excited when michigan beat OSU so that right there tells you mich isnt in his heart.
He went with his heart but deep down he has to know that the offfesne will be run from the shotgun with a single back. He's happy to be a buckeye but damn he simply does not fit the spread offense. This is like DRob going to USC to run a pro-style: it doesn't work. However, maybe Urban is trying to move to more of a pro-style offense. NOT! A bigger, less moveable back is what slows down the spread offense. Urban must have played film for Dunn showing the 20 times Florida was in the I-formation and sold the kid on it.
Wasn't meant to be. It just didn't work out, but we can still be just friends.
The story might not be Dunn yet. After all, the new staff at Ohio isobviously blowing smoke up everyone's asses right now about how little punishment they will get. I don't think Ohio will get nearly what they deserve, but Mark Emmert could grow a spine in the next week or two.
At least his ACL is safe now.
now that he isn't coming to UM I couldn't give a flying fuck what happens to him.
i cant wait for Ondre Pipkins to demolish him
I think Meyer is changing the tide. Hes getting prostyle running backs to commit. Hell people in Michigan are starting to think their fucked.
The joke's on you. It's they're, not their.
Now we can stop talking about him. Enjoy all that PT you'll get in the spread.
Some perspective: The closer we get to National Signing Day, the more we act like each recruit on the board is the "Future of the Program".
We got ourselves all worked up about Dunn, and we will get ourselves all worked up about whoever is left on the radar. It's what we do. In the meantime, we tend to overlook a recruit like Shane Morris who really is the "Future of the Program" because he's old news.
I remember when 5* Big Will comitted during the Army All Star game. We all did the happy dance like we just won the National Championship. Has he redefined the program? No. Not yet at least.
In the meantime, does anyone even remember the recruitment of Denard Robinson? We did not even notice it, because it didn't happen the 2 weeks before NSD.
To be fair, Denard's YMRMFSPA was Pat White. Brian was excited.
Wonder when the ncaa is gonna slap OSU on the wrist? I have the feeling that the NCAA thinks that the selling of the gold pants, free tattoos, free test rides to Pennsylvania, the charity raffle, stealing equipment and signing it to sell on ebay and lying to the NCAA is all just rumors. we will see.
I wonder If this has any affect on Diggs
When is National Signing Day?

i just read a tweet by brionte dunn. " I'm bouts to get tatted." lol just thought it was funny after he reaffirmed his commit to ohio.
we don't need him, i was hesitant on getting pretty high up on this kid since he's been an ohio fan his whole life. if he was never 100% on wanting to come here, then i don't want him here. in the end, he's screwing himself over by going into meyer's system, but if its what he wants, its what he wants.
besides, we've got fitz-krieg for another 1-2 years, and here's to hoping rawls becomes the next anthony thomas/mike hart.
The most curious/announg part about this whole thing is Dunn's comments re: the impending (or lackthereof) sanctions... I think the NCAA is going to show its true colors here.
From FridayNightOhio.com "Answers to NCAA sanctions played a big part in both players committing to Meyer.
'He told me I didn’t have to worry about sanctions,” Dunn said. “Nothing worse is going to happen.'"
Here is the link to the article:
how am i trolling when i say unreal that ohio wont get any more sanctions? lolwut
who in their right mind would want to play for a two time national champion??
Hope he enjoys splitting carries with Carlos Hyde (SO) Jordan Hall (JR) Jamaal Berry (SO) oh and frosh phenom Rod Smith. Lot's of room on that depth chart lol. Everyone of those guys are back next season. Oh and Urban has NEVER had a 1000yard rusher.
If you look at Michigan's depth chart...seriously you have to wait behind Fitz (who also happens to be made of glass) but after him there is no other real threat to playing time. I sure hope a guy like Thomas Rawls can develop into a BEAST but that's far from a sure thing. Good luck kid.
I'm glad that drama is over with. I personally didn't want Dunn, who wants someone who really doesn't want them. I felt like he was playing us the whole time. He would have redshirted next year anyway, we have a solid core of rbs next year in Fitz, Smith, Rawls and Hayes.
Would have liked to see him in the winged helmet, but what can you do. I'm not that worried though, cause chances are he won't be as effective for them in the spread. Good luck to him.
It really sucks losing out on a guy I thought could actually come in and play right away. The one thing I will say is I don't mind losing out on Dunn as long as he is the only casuality to Meyer. I mean it could be worse, we could have loss out like MSU and PSU.
He's going to be a really good one.
