As far as I know, that's all we know.
Dunn: Lookin' for a Sign
Can early enrollees partake in bowl practices? Whoever IS enrolling early will definitely make an impact in 2012 if so, most likely DLs and TEs.
The bowl game would be over by the time they return to campus for classes.
Actually I think they can. I'm not sure on the details, but I remember reports of Kevin Grady joining the team for Rose Bowl practices when he was an early enrollee. And I also remember all the speculation that he would immediately surpass Mike Hart....
EDIT: That was seven years ago though, so maybe the rules have changed
Doesn't sound like a bad gig - to have your first official practice with the team on location getting ready for a bowl. All expenses paid trip to a spring break-like locale learning from the best.
Yeah, except it's a serious work trip.
I think it would be pretty awkward being the only new guy for bowl practices, personally.
That said, I think every kid that's made his decision should enroll early. Nine months to adjust to college is better than Fall practice.
Will Campbell was an EE and he did not start until mid Jan IIRC.
I don't see how they would be able to, unless the game is sometime after the beginning of classes for that early enrollee. The reason why normal enrollees can practice in the summer is because they enroll for the summer semester.
Kevin Grady did this.
Rich Rod really wants to do this!?!
That big guy have an A on his dome?
You can't use apostrophes in hashtags.
Andre Smith really needs to get in shape. You think he'd learn from his NFL Combine experience...
as the resident Swede
The title stuck this song in my brain and I thought I'd pay it forward. Thanks a lot, OP. Now I'll be seeing the sign for the rest of the afternoon. Dammit.
Obviously, you meant to say 'I am gay for Denard."
We all are, man - at least a little bit. We all are.
If he knew he was going to OSU, he'd announce it. Anywhere else, and he's going to hide it because he doesn't want backlash from OSU fans like Kalis took. Rivals has him only showing interest in OSU, PSU, and Michigan. I doubt PSU is in the running anymore, so if it's not OSU, then I think it's Michigan.
The fact that he is EE and he will have visited Michigan 3 times in a month once he and Kalis come up here for their officials has me thinking that he is coming around to the idea of going to Michigan. I agree it's a battle between the logical choice and the emotional choice, but I would guess that he hates Michigan a little less right now, adding some debate to what the emotional choice might be.
Hasn't he officially committed to OSU? He hasn't decommitted yet, right? So he doesn't technically need to announce (re-announce?) that he's going there ...
Official commitments don't mean anything. All that matters is what piece of paper he signs. Do early enrollees have to sign a letter of intent? Or do they just enroll in their chosen school?
Given that they'd be signing a letter announcing their intent to enroll after they'd already enrolled. That being said, the NCAA enjoys imposing stupid, pointless rules on people, so who knows?
Rivals and Scout say he's a "soft verbal" in other words he's not sure...
M Night Shyamalan, right?
SPOILER ALERT: Bri'onte Dunn is an alien... but water will kill him.
I was like, "Dude, Brionte Dunn wants to be an Electrical Engineer? Brains and brawn!!"
Thats exactly what I thought too! And I had even known before reading this post that he planned to enroll early. My brain is already checked out for the weekend.
Meyer has made quite an impression on Dunn. I believe he ends up sticking with OSU in the end. As Sam Webb said a couple of days ago, his head may be telling him he's a better fit for what UM wants to do in the near future, but, his heart is still all Buckeye.
I have *no* idea why this post was downvoted and tagged as Flamebait. It's a perfectly legitimate opinion. We all hope it proves to be wrong, but it's in no way trolling to state it, especially the way the poster did.
What kind is he looking for?
The arrival of Meyer changes things. Dunn hasn't even met with him face to face as far as I know...Also, I'm sure that OSU is saying that they're not going to get hit any harder than they've already hit themselves. And I think they're probably right.
I'd bet three cents that he ends up at OSU. FWIW.
That's what USC said too.
If he wants to be an EE, he should come to Michigan. Our electrical engineering department is top 7 in the nation, I don't think OSU is even ranked.
#20 actually. The Big Ten has lots of good EE programs.
EEs who are also football players seem very rare. Maybe one per decade?
As an electrical engineer at the University of Michigan, I care to disagree with that. US News has us as the 6th ranked undergraduate electrical engineering program, and the 7th ranked graduate electrical engineering program.
The only other Big Ten programs that have good engineering that I can think of off the top of my head are Purdue and Illinois. MSU's is trending upwards as well.
He wasn't talking about our EE program. OSU's EE program is #20. Take moar electives!
I meant OSU is #20.
Obviously Illinois is very good, as are Purdue and Michigan. Wisconsin and Minnesota are also top 20 in EE.
Really, except for Iowa (because Iowa State is really Iowa's engineering school), Indiana (not a real Big Ten school) and Nebraska (another fake Big Ten School), the Big Ten is pretty strong in EE.
So take that SEC!
Yep, my bad. Obviously I'm an idiot. I'll chalk it up to it being Friday.
early enrollee not electrical engineer.
It could be Eosinophilic Esophagitis:
Sad. There was a time when it only meant one thing for someone starting college.

that the NCAA is their bitch. gene smith said the NCAA gave him a 10-14 day timeframe and this was about a week ago. it was mixed in with the omgurbanmeijers news
Ted Ginn looking rough. Looks like #7
It's sad to see that A.J. Hawk's meth habit has finally got the best of him.
Not sure if male or female...
It's sad but that is one of the prettier girls in Columbus. Also has more teeth than most.
Meth for sure!!
How does a current h.s. senior not know if he is going to be an early enrollee? Either you now have just about completed your h.s. credits, and you're done, or not. What would you still be doing in h.s., if you had the chance to be out early?
I can easily see how a kid might have planned to be an early enrollee, and had done some advance-placement work in h.s. to get there but either changed his mind about fall classes, or couldn't get everything done, or didn't want to. I can also see if perhaps a two-sport kid was really engaged with his basketball team, et cetera. But this is December, and I presume that Dunn will be done at Canton Glenoak by Christmas.
What am I not getting, about early enrollments?
don't get that either. It also seems like you'd have to let the high school know you're done and/or won't be signing up for classes next semester.
Being eligible to graduate =/= graduating.
If he's unsure of where he wants to go next year, he could very easily stay in school despite having the required credits to graduate.
Isn't the latest that he knows that he'll be an EE but doesn't know where? It's a little weird not to know where you're going so soon before enrolling, but I think a lot of people decide on a college very soon before it starts.
Am I alone in thinking that Dunn's holding pattern mostly has to do with the impending NCAA sanctions (or lack thereof)? I'd bet he's staking a lot on the outcome. He surely won't commit to OSU if has, in addition to a spread, significant losses in terms of scholarships, bowls, etc. But if the penalties amount to a hand-slap...
Would you not go to a University because of a difference in whether they'd lose two scholarships for two years, or five scholarships for three years? Would you decommit from a school (one with a serious football program like OSU where there will be inevitable bowl trips) because it was facing a bowl ban for your Freshman year?
I can easily see Dunn wanting to hold off on any commitment until he knew who the coach would be. Heck, that's what I'd do. And I can see Dunn wanting to take his time and see how the fall played out. I see nothing wrong with the way he's handled this.
But I have to think that your feel for the school, how you get along with your position coach and your head coach; which friends and acquaintances are committing with you; those things would have to matter 1000 times more than the details of NCAA sanctions. I don't know; maybe high-level recruits think different.
Maybe the reports are wrong and he isnt going to be an EE any where? Anyone ever think of that?
I know that Dunn is a tremendous talent, but I kind of wonder if Michigan fans don't want him more for what he may represent. That is an Ohio native, committed to Ohio State flipping to Michigan in the eleventh hour pissing off buckeye fans.
I just want him to commit to one because this board is being overrun by Brionte Dunn questions and updates.
I want him to come to UM because I think he's a stud RB and I'd rather not have to face him for four years.
It is funny, how fans and the media might get excited about that kind of flip...
"So... uh... when is it my turn to take over the plowing business?"
I'm curious how this image looks on the site, because it's a complete disaster on a phone.
Wow. Somehow you managed to recreate the final scenes from 2001 - A Space Odessy on my Ipad.
These highly rated kids who play the recruiting game like seasoned vets, most likely already know where they are headed for college much earlier than they let on. In Dunn's case, I think he has been solid to Michigan ever since Kalis left and started recruiting him to A2. As much as I would love to have Dunn, he needs to be 100% sure that he wants to be a Michigan Man before commiting. Brionte, I have a sign for you...40-34!
Why is this board obsessed with high schoolers? Seriously, some of you should join Pedo Anonymous. If he suits up in a winged helmet next year great, if not, we have Fitz for 2 more years anyway.
Right, because recruiting has nothing to do with college football.
This is a disturbing trend across college football. It seems like all of these recruits are high schoolers, and the vast majority of them are still teenagers. Why schools insist on going after this particular demographic is unclear.
I also don't understand why people obsess over wins and losses. If you Lose who cares. You've still got games to play next year.
we always have next year to panic over high schools.
is someone just wrote 'Brionte Dunn' and nothing else, it would get 100 replies on this message board.
I was thinking this exact same thing. Lets keep the good times rollin'!
F so did I now!
He probably keeps seeing this one:
(It's an 'M' so....Michigan! But it's red, so...Ohio State! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL ME UBIQUITOUS SIGN?!? Oh hey there's another one.)
You can change the signature now. 10-2 and likely BCS bowl = constructed.
DUNN>EE>AA>OMG>Atrain2.0>kkthxbyebbq at the Big House
I hope Dunn makes the best decision for himself. If he comes here, great, he's going to have to buckle his chinstrap b/c the Buckeyes will be after him. If he stays with Ohio St, ok, he's still going to have to buckle his chinstrap b/c Pipkins, Stroble, Ross & co. will be coming for him.
I am having flash backs to T. prior and his recruitment by rich rod... I feel pessimism enter my bones. Bri- dude, "Those who stay will be champions". Those who come will be Legends! ohio doesn't care about you the person, they only care about winning, and as you have seen, they will try to win at all costs, including taking advantage of you.
Why else would grown people be concern about a decision a kid going to make. I just love how this is playing out...
Waiting for ohio punishment, as I would too. I am sure Meyer told him what it is and when. Meyer really slept with 5 GA's?
when do we find out whether Devin gets his medical redshirt?
his 4th year.
Backing up Bellamy, Morris is on campus and it's irrelevant
Grew up a Michigan fan but just couldn't play in that god awful defensive scheme (who can blame him).
Hopefully history repeats itself.
But I am wondering if he is regretting his decision now.
The 3-3-5 had nothing to so with A Z.
The 3-3-5 had everything to do with everything
If Dunn does committ to UM and since he is going to be an early enrollee, I predict he will committ just before he leaves for UM for the winter semester, in order to forego the backlash from the local Ohio fans. Especially after all the negativity that Kalis had to deal with when he decommitted from Ohio and then committed to UM.
Hide 'yo ACL!
Just show up on campus in January. Then he doesn't have to worry about putting up with all the BS.
Is the picture of the dove in front of the cross supposed to look like the winged helmet?
I want to go there
He has his official visit, and he will commit...
I see Dunn as a guy stuck with the hard facts about Ohio State not being as great a fit as Michigan for his skills, but with a life-long affinity for the school that makes it hard to turn down cold.
What about a life long affinty to being in the NFL? Isn't the reason of choosing a college is to have the best shot at getting a job that you either are good at, love, or make the most money someday?
A. Long-time girlfriend who lives in a trailer, guzzles Jack and Natty Light, looks more than a little trashy, loves it loud and nasty in bed—or on the kitchen counter—is always ready to party until 4am every night, and will never, ever, say no;
B. The nice girl his cousin introduced him to, who lives in a comfortable but not ostentatious Colonial in a quiet neighborhood, carries a laptop at all times to keep up with schoolwork, loves the library, dresses sensibly, but when she takes her glasses off there's a hint of hidden passion.
most 17 year olds will take choice A
WTF weird analogy.
so like. . . you wouldn't happen to have the number of that distilled spirits-appreciating girl would you?
I think I go with option A
MGoCreep, I know, but I thought this was pretty fantastic.
My mom won Ohio State stuff at an auction at her work today. Im glad she did bc I didnt have anything else to wipe my butt with.
If Dunn looks to his family for signs...
You coulda just attributed it to him!
Dymonte is awesome. Full Blue more than a year from getting on campus.
This article talks about the old rivalry between Kiffin & Meyer and how it may start up again. It points out that USC recently offered Dunn and that "sources" say he'd be willing to listen and was...wait for it..."planning to visit?"
Big ? here is: WTF
Just ordered a bottle of snake oil.
Dunn has got to make the best decision for him as do we. He seems to be a great player and would look good in Maize and Blue.
However, if he has been a lifelong Buckeye and has always hated Michigan and cannot convert to Michigan than I don't want mercenaries on this team. I want talented players but I also want them to want to succeed for themselves, their team mates, their coaches, their fans, and their schools.
As has been said if he comes that's awesome but if not there are other fish in the sea.
at least in this picture they do
Which picture is that?
I can wait.
I dont know if this has been stated, because im waaay to lazy to read every single post, but if this were an emotional choice for OSU, how could he have stood on the U of M sideline, for the game! He could have easily just came for the Nebraska game. I think its U of M. We have too many things going our way for him.
A third school such as SC makes a lot of sense actually. Good way to avoid the polarizing choice of M versus poster child for compliance.
