Dumbest Theory Ever
Let me just start by saying I don't think most MSU fans have rational thoughts.
Alright.
That being said, I've also heard all season long from MSU fans that actually follow football that no matter how good Forcier plays, he will be pushed aside for "the quarterback that Dick Rod thinks is the Messiah" Devin Gardner. Today I heard from a friend who is a big MSU fan that he actually thinks that yesterday Rich Rodriguez realized that Forcier wasn't going to cut it long-term, so decided he'd take that opportunity to play Robinson (on the last drive) to distance the Michigan faithful from Forcier so that when Gardner automatically starts over Forcier the fans won't be as upset.
Does this make sense to anyone? At all? I didn't think so.
Has anyone else heard any brilliant theories about how DG will levitate into Ann Arbor and be handed golden rings and the starting job?
This conspiracy theory is worse than the "9/11: Inside Job" nonsense. Feel free to take offense if you buy into the "9/11: Inside Job" theory. Please take offense, actually, if you think that. Don't be dumb.

Somehow I think if Devin Gardner is the better QB next year he'll be played whether the fans like it or not. But if he actually is better, the fans will stop disliking it soon enough once the W's start rolling in.
If DG is better next year and plays, I'll be surprised.

the theory does apply to Dantonio and Sparty. I think Dantonio thinks Nichol the better QB. We'll see. Cousins looks like the kind of QB that wins at Iowa or Wisconsin (Brooks Bollinger, anyone?), programs Sparty would do well to emulate. As for Michigan, why should RichRod favor either QB?? They are both TRUE FRESHMEN! Tate had the initial advantage because he enrolled early. So now we'll see what transpires. It looks like 7 wins for sure (Delaware State, Illinois and Purdue) and possibly eight with a win against way overrated PSU. Which for a team with two true freshman QB's and underclassmen everywhere, isn't all that bad.

The problem here is that most college coaches can't afford to do anything but play the best player, and real coaches don't need to "distance" the fanbase from a certain players - he should be man enough to say "we're going with this guy" whatever his popularity.
If you're a lightweight slickmeister like Mack Brown and play Chris Simms despite the fact he sucked against anything resembling a quality opponent, you might pull this kind of "distancing" scheme. If you are a quality coach with a history of beating teams that are more talented than you, you know you don't have the leeway to play games with personnel.
