This is Dumb

http://www.detnews.com/article/20091010/OPINION03/910100401/1131/sports… I can't begin to point out all the reasons why this is a dumb column. Typical media babble - wanting a controversy, hoping for a controversy and creating one if necessary. This clown has zigged when everyone else has zagged by saying DR should actually have been in the game EARLIER. I would expect better from the News . . .

Are the Wolverines placing their defensive players in a bad scheme that will foster failure rather than success? Rodriguez said that is not the case, but it sure looks like it.
He lost me here.

Let's see...uranked team goes into a night game at the #12 team's home stadium and almost comes out victorious... ...and there's a problem with the UNRANKED team?

foster is an idiot. did he even watch the game? or did he just see clips of RR yelling at a few guys and fill in the blank on his own? jesus, it's almost like he works for the free press.

I'm convinced that reporters and columnists are simply desperate to keep their jobs right now and search for controversy at every turn. He certainly wasn't watching the same game as I.

Last year, Foster wrote a column/blog that said he was no longer getting a regular column in the paper, but would be "blogging" for the online edition. That, and he basically had no place in the office. In other words, "working from home." He is really on the outside looking in. In his blog on Sep 8, following the WMU game, he admitted that he'd watched the "second half at a sports bar." No ticket to the game? Sooooo ... He literally mailed it in. He also blasted UM fans in another blog the same day for "shallow" chants of support for Rich Rodriguez, (his reasoning was that they should have started in the first half)! He is praying for controversy in the UM program. Its the only way he can get anyone to pay any attention to him. He's a man clinging to a dying profession, (wait, seems like I've heard that before about another guy over at the other local rag).

Foster is an asshole. He and Valenti made a huge point on Fri to talk about how Foster was flying into Iowa City on Sat and flying out on Sat. Wow, way to spend time to get your pulse on the team you dumb motherfucker. These kids and coaches want to win, does he not think that?? Does he think every college football sideline is rosy, without emotion, and "all is well"?? He has no fucking clue what goes on with Michigan. He is a desperate piece of shit trying to start controversy, to get people to read the other rag in the city of Detroit. Fuck Terry Foster, fuck his newspaper.

have been reduced to competing amongst themselves to make meaningless points, almost like vultures fighting over carrion that nobody else wants. It's truly sad; fortunately we have a choice by just ignoring them.

R u guys crazy."denard should have been in earlier"....... ummm no he shouldnt have because the only reason iowa let us score was because they werent used to what denard was going to do it was like a change of pace. if he was in earlier the iowa d probably would have seen what he does and stopped it on the last drive. And how was tate playing so bad, when he did drive us down the field we turned the ball over minor fumbling inside the 20 exhibit A, and tate has had 3 straight bad games but he led us back in all of them why are people so quick to throw him under the bus when we would be 1-5 or 0-6 without him keep him in the game to prove himself and get back on track or at least the last drive Through the game tate got 0 encoragment all yelling and what the hell are you doing. and people dont think maybe that had something to do with the lowering of his confidence and a bad game

... I'm beginning to think you are Tate Forcier. Shouldn't you be texting a reporter or something and layoff Drob (third thread I've seen you go ballistic on). He fucked up, hopefully he'll learn, and improve. The team will be better for it if he does.

Or, he would understand from the weekly UFR defensive analysis and Steve Sharik posts that the problems with Michigan's defense are related to inexperience at a few key positions and the occasional bad read. The reason Iowa's TE killed us was because Iowa found a way to take advantage of our weaknesses, not because we're just foundering out there. I'm losing patience with the debate over who the QB should have been on the last series. I think reasonable arguments can be made in favor of either player. We went with Robinson, and it's easy to criticize the decision because we lost. But if we'd put in Forcier and lost, then there would be people complaining that D-Rob should have played. Foster didn't shed any new light on that issue either.

Think tate should have been in on the last drive. That being said I'm fine with denard "considering the circumstances" in that spot too. Who's throwing tate under the bus? Who said his confidence was shot? Didn't tate yell back at the coaching staff/rr after his last series? And a lot of the reason the run worked most of the game is bacause of the threat of forciers arm.but tates a big boy and I don't think rr yelling at him would cause him to have a poor game!

... I actually just read the article, and it could be the worst thing I've ever read. It reads like a trash gossip magazine. Columnists suck. They don't have to rely on facts, they are never held accountable for the garbage they spew, and they always have an agenda...

That was my first thought. They even got to toss out the ever popular "qb controversy". Sad, but that is what passes for journalism today. Of course, reading the comment section of any number of sites does not say much for their audience, either. This is one of the very few blogs with a comment section I read.
