Speaking of crazy things from Harbaugh, where did this come from?

http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2015/10/jim_harbaugh_not_inte…

"I'm not into the 'if this, if that' type of scenarios," Harbaugh said Monday. "If worms had machine guns then birds (would) be scared of them.

"We're looking to (define) our season over the next number of games that we play."

The latest Harbaugh-ism came from somewhere inside his head, though he's not sure where he heard the phrase first.

Just like hipsters don't shave, or bathe and wear clothes their parents bought for them when they were in high school(insert skinny jeans).

The real answer though,

It is originally from Boston, when the baked beans that had just come out of the oven were cool enough to eat, the cook would announce, “Cool Beans.” It became more popular recently as a result of a Bush Beans commercial in the mid 80s, when the talking dog, Duke, said it in one of their commercials.

Google is your friend, although this was from Yahoo answers.

It looks like State is cancelling practice all week during their bye in an effort to heal up.

I think Notre Dame did the something similar during their bye is well. With all the concerns with extending the playing season, and injury risks, I wonder if it will start becoming common practice to cancel the physical portions of practices during off weeks.

We used to beat both of those teams in their own stadiums, such as they are, on a pretty damn regular basis.

It's about time we get back to doing that again.

Having msu on the road isn't ideal but it is the best scenario as almost their entire lineup graduates. Their best wrs gone. Most of their oline is gone. Cook is gone. Cook leaving alone will prob leave them with 3 to 4 losses.

given the MSU/OSU road game thing.

- Start with three "easy" NC opponents. Strength of schedule wonks won't like it but there's nothing we can do about it.

- bye week before Big 10 schedule starts.

- Open conference with Wisconsin at home, probably a night game.

- Play @ Rutgers, then Penn State at home

- Play Illinois at home, then @MSU

- Play Maryland at home, then @Iowa

- Play Indiana at home, then @OSU

See a pattern? We get an easier opponent before every "tough" opponent. No back-to-back tests. @Iowa and @OSU will be challenging but we'll be so loaded next year with 100% more Harbaugh system coaching.

Great news that Drake is back! Between him and Smith, if our running game is even remotely competent then we should have no problem having a UNLV/BYU/NW-type performance on both sides of the ball.

In Brady's words, Johnson had a boo boo that he's been dealing with the last two weeks. I'm aware that he should be ready to go for Minnesota.

Brian Cole suffered a boo boo and he's been working through some things.  He's not quite ready to come back yet.

Cole might as well get ready for 2016 and work on that medical redshirt.

Need the Drake for edge runs vs OSU and PSU stout DLs.   Using Smith as an edge rusher was not good last game.

Do you think that the coaches might have decided that if Drake Johnson is injured worse than originally expected, then edge runs may have to be left to Jehu Chesson on the "jet sweep" and Jabrill Peppers when he's not being used a s a decoy on offense?

Would Freddy Canteen, Drake Harris, Grant Perry or Maurice Ways offer the coaches any other options for outside runs?

I'm somewhat concerned that future opponents may have schemed to stop the "jet sweep" with Jehu Chesson. It seems that the play might be telegraphed by Chesson lining up off the line and off to the right and then sprinting to his left, almost parallel to the line of scrimmage before the snap, so that he gets close enough to the quarterback to take a handoff without breaking stride, instead of a toss.
