Draft Boards Predict Burke Second Round

Submitted by Wettin 3's on

Based on NBADraft.net he is predicted to go as the #39 overall pick (9th pick in the 2nd round) to the Denver Nuggets. DraftExpress gives him the #40 overall pick (10th pick in the 2nd round) to the Boston Celtics. Doesn't seem like he is going first round, I hope he is back!

Hey now...I loved KOB. It was em0 and the red scare-esque constant accusations of every dumb post being made under an alternative handle of his that wearied me.

Although whoever it was that claimed to have access to thousands of IPs, so he couldn't be banned--now THAT I loved.

Maybe I just want my own BKFinest moment. Maybe I'm just not afraid of reality like the rest of the folks marking me flamebait. Time will tell. I'll take my lumps whether I'm right or wrong. No backing down.

I'm no troll, you can look up my history.

you don't stop going to class AND put all your stuff in trash bags if you're coming back.

There is another possibility: maybe he was having a bad day recently and said "F it, I'm not going to class anymore. I'm going pro," but then (possibly after talking to his parents and/or Beilein) reconsidered a day or two later.  That would not necessarily make the earlier reports wrong, just out of date.

No major credible news outlet predicts him as a first rounder. The only people telling him to go are trying to make a quick buck off of it somehow.

The draft boards are a joke. A few days ago Trey wasn't on their radar. Now all of a sudden he's 2nd round material? It's kind of a self fullfilling prophecy (ie. if you say it enough it'll happen). Right up until the moment you fall out of the first round or worse go undrafted all together...

Then Trey ought to be VERY worried if he does come out cause both of those services had Darius getting drafted higher in their mock drafts than he actually did.  DraftExpress had him as the 34th pick going to the Wizzards and NBA Draft.net had him going 31st to the Heat.  And as we all remember he went 41st to the Lakers.

So if history holds for these two services anyways, Trey will be a deep 2nd rounder or fall out of the draft entirely.

And yet they still declare anyways.....

Can somebody enlighten me as to the whole "agent-no agent pull back from draft thing?"  Can't they declare but if they dont sign with an agent still think better of it later and return to school?  And if they can, does anybody know what the stipulations are on such a move?

I bet careful analysis that I am too lazy to do would show that the variance in actual draft position relative to projected draft position is much greater in the right-hand tail of the distribution. Plus, the distribution is inherently right-skewed, since there's no draft number lower than "1" but plenty of numbers greater than "39."

I think Trey ought to be extremely worried at that ranking. It's one thing if you're a senior (in which case you have no choice) or an overseas player (in which case you can always go back to playing for the Milan Designers or whatever). But man, Trey should really stay at least one more year.

Leaders And Best

I do not put any stock in that website at all.  Essentially a fan site that parlayed a good URL into getting hits and built its reputation off that.  Their predicitions vary wildly as other sources break projections as draft nears. Draftexpress is a little better, but both have terrible track records with draft accuracy, especially the 2nd Round.

But any projection this early prior to workouts is like blindly throwing darts, especially for the 2nd round.

I'm really hoping this turns out the best for Trey whatever he chooses.  He definitely has True Grit.  But I'm not sure if that will translate to the next level.
