Draft Boards Predict Burke Second Round

Submitted by Wettin 3's on

Based on NBADraft.net he is predicted to go as the #39 overall pick (9th pick in the 2nd round) to the Denver Nuggets. DraftExpress gives him the #40 overall pick (10th pick in the 2nd round) to the Boston Celtics. Doesn't seem like he is going first round, I hope he is back!

Burke has been projected in that range all along, by everybody.  It isn't worth it to any player who isn't guaranteed a first round contract to leave college unless he can't handle the books. Burke can handle the books.  He should stay.

Hopefully, the consensus opinion, his parents, and JB are collectively more persuasive than whoever it is that is blowing sunshine and roses up his bleep.

I think it's time for JB to seriously try to find out who is "getting to" his players.

Just have the feeling that the longer this drags on the likelier he is to stay in school. If his parents and JB are trying to convince him otherwise I really feel they will get the job done

A 5'11" point guard that wants to come out after one year? Unless he's averaging either 20 PPG or 20 APGs, his butt belongs back in school, regardless of where he attends college.

I know a guy that is very very close to Burke and has talked to him a lot recently.

He said one if, if not the, main reason why Trey is leaving is because of the incoming class.

I guess when McGary came up to Ann arbor, he and trey really didn't "click" and Burke got the impression that he was a "selfish, the team is all about me" type of guy.

Also, trey didn't like the fact that Michigan was getting two top players who were know to be THAT guy who were the scoring type. Trey thought that with having McGary, Robinson, and Hardaway jr that his draft stock would ultimately go down.

The are the main reasons why trey is very close to declaring and I can see where he is coming from, but I think he is making the Wong

I dont post very much .. I moslty read every day .. but I had to reply to this.

I'm not sure how close the the guy you spoke to is to Burke .. but that just doesnt make any sense to me. None of the guys from the incoming class threaten Burke in any way at all. If anything .. they'll make his game that much easier. He'll have perimeter guys that can put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim. He'll have guys that can sit out on the wing and shoot lights out. He'll have a perfect blend of players.

As for the 'clicking' regarding McCary .. (because he's known to be THAT guy) .. I'm not sure I understand that logic either. If I'm not mistaken .. McGary isn't even THE man on his high school team right now. He's got a lot of talent and his team is very well balanced. I dont see how he'd change all of a sudden when he gets to Ann Arbor.

By having two highly touted recruits and hardaway jr, Burke (as a point guard) will have a job of distributing the ball more than he did last season.

The would result in less points and touches for Burke. By this happening, Burke's draft stock would go down due to him not drawing as much of attention.

I disagree.

If he distributes the ball correctly, his assist totals could increase dramatically, thus pushing his draft potential higher than expected.

Teams don't draft 5'11" scorers. At that size you've got to show that you can run an offense properly and get the ball to the scorers.

So Trey didn't like a supposedly selfish me-first type of player but he's worried/upset about having two high scoring top recruits on his team bc that would essentially reduce how many touches he's gonna get? Seems contradictory. I have a hard time believing he's a selfish player by any means, but if you're getting top recruits that are known for great shooting, if I was a team player, that'd make me ecstatic to play on that team w a talent upgrade/ possible title contender.

So he is upset at playing w a supposedly selfish me-first player but he's upset that he supposedly won't get the touches he's getting now bc the TEAM is getting a talent upgrade esp at scoring? Seems contradictory.

If trey thinks that he is feeling threatened by those 22 incoming freshman then he is obviously scared of competition and the last place you wanna run too is the NBA.

should require at least two years of college complete before declaring for the draft.  This one and done business sucks and makes trying to build a college basketball program problematic.  College basketball would be much better if players determined to finish their education - let alone develop their game, before running on to cash in their millions.
