DR too short for NFL Per Mel Kiper....

From the Det news...

"He's 6-feet even. … Is that a prototypical NFL quarterback, no matter what type of offense he plays in? No," Kiper said Wednesday during an ESPN conference call. "I think that's the issue.

That was my initial thought as well but it's hard to argue Flutie was really anything more than a moderately effective backup.  I liked the guy, but being short does pose problems for an NFL QB.

It's Kiper, and he's right. DR is not a prototypical NFL QB, but I have seen a lot of shitty prototypical NFL QBs. You don't have to get drafted high to be successful.

Denard is athletic enough to make up for being shorter than a prototypical quarterback. However, he's got a long way to go with his coverage reading and accuracy skills before he even gets considered as a legit NFL QB. I'm not saying he can't do it, he's definitely not afraid to put in the work, but he's got a long way to go as of now.

I don't know where you got that about Desean Jackson considering he was considered a first round pick and then was picked in the first round. All of the scouts also said he was the most dynamic playmaker in the class.

Mel Kiper's job is to say that guys do or don't fit some prototype. I don't like Mel Kiper and I'm not defending him.  I'm just saying that Denard's height is always going to be brought up by NFL draft analysts.  Hopefully he'll be able to show that his height isn't an issue.

I don't get the RABBLE RABBLE ANGAR.  Well, I do get it but it's ignorant.  Gee, how dare Kiper say anything other than Denard will break every record ever.  He said he's not tall enough to be a prototypical NFL quarterback, not that he's "too short for the NFL" as the OP and the MSM headline guy claim.  What's false about that?
