That was my initial thought as well but it's hard to argue Flutie was really anything more than a moderately effective backup. I liked the guy, but being short does pose problems for an NFL QB.
but Denard is a special athlete and that should make up for any height issues.

Denard is athletic enough to make up for being shorter than a prototypical quarterback. However, he's got a long way to go with his coverage reading and accuracy skills before he even gets considered as a legit NFL QB. I'm not saying he can't do it, he's definitely not afraid to put in the work, but he's got a long way to go as of now.

I don't know where you got that about Desean Jackson considering he was considered a first round pick and then was picked in the first round. All of the scouts also said he was the most dynamic playmaker in the class.
I think his point was that the prototypical wide receiver is a guy who's 6'3" or 6'4" and 210-220 lbs. Desean Jackson is definitely not those things.
I got his point. But there is a lot more flexibility to what is a "prototypical WR" depending on your needs there.

Mel Kiper's job is to say that guys do or don't fit some prototype. I don't like Mel Kiper and I'm not defending him. I'm just saying that Denard's height is always going to be brought up by NFL draft analysts. Hopefully he'll be able to show that his height isn't an issue.

Yeah I don't quite get the rabble rabble either. Would anybody really be all that upset if he transitioned to receiver in the pro's and had a nice career as a speedster wideout? I sure as hell would prefer that to seeing him potentially wash out as a backup quarterback.
