JLA doors open 1 hour before event, so should be open at 12:05.
Olympia room, on the ground floor, has always been open to the public for college games. Plenty of TVs and tables and you can eat while watching.

If you don't mind taking a little hike up to the Cass & Warren area, Lefty's Lounge, which is adjacent to Wayne State's campus, has a decent sports bar atmosphere as well. If you're only interested in drinks, then Tap at the MGM Grand is OK as well, and it is closer to the Joe.
