Title says it all. #5 Florida loses to unranked Mizzou 63-60. Crazy year in college hoops continues.
the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection
I'm not too wrapped up in the rankings. The team has work to do on the defensive end.
"I'm not a vegetarian b/c I love animals. I'm a vegetarian b/c I hate plants"
Not about rankings. Getting a one seed would be huge. Florida losing helps us get there since they are in line for a 1 seed right now. Miami losing would be nice too, but they keep winning these close games.
I don't see any way that Florida gets a 1 seed now. They have one RPI top 25 win (against Marquette) and that was back in November. They have a bad loss against Arkansas, and none of their remaining games are likely to be against an RPI top 50 team (assuming Kentucky falls out of the top 50). I guess if they run the table from here out they might be considered, but the SEC is so bad, even that's not going to improve their resume very much.
too bad the U won. CBB this year is so nuts! I can't wait to see how bad my bracket will be.
3-3-5 til the day I die y'all
And it's already busted.
As crazy as things have been this year, this season's parity can't be as bad on my future bracket as last year. I followed up my clutch UConn pick in 2011 with a stinker by picking Missouri to take it all last year. Talk about a complete reversal of fortune. At the very least, I know I probably won't be alone in losing most of my final four in the first weekend of this tourney...
Florida is a total fraud. They have one decent win all year, and they've lost every close game. They can't finish.
I also think Miami and Duke are elevated simply because they're in the ACC and the Big East is down. So much Parody.
I generally agree, since the ACC is really down too. NC State has decided to collapse, and the third best team, UNC, has been scuffling all year. But at least Miami and Duke can point to some good wins. Miami that obliteration over Duke and a win against MSU. Duke over Louisville, Minnesota, OSU early on (admittedly with Kelly). The jewel in Florida's resume is ... Marquette? And their next best RPI win is Middle Tennessee State? Add in that they don't have any road wins to speak of and I think they're closer to a 3 than a 1.
is definitely overrated, but Duke with Ryan Kelly is almost unstoppable... Considering it was early in the season, Duke did take down Louisville, Ohio, Minnesota, and VCU but Duke without Ryan Kelly is another story. They have looked extremely mediocre since his injury.
2013 will be the year.
Not safe to be in the top 5 this year.
Go Blue! Always!
I was listening to the game on the radio (830AM in CA) on my way home from class and the play by play guy compared Scottie Wilbekin's defense to the alligator who bit off Chubs' hand in Happy Gilmore. That is an elite defender.
If I tell you it's Easter, you better start looking for eggs.
Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a kaiser blade.
I really don't care to be a #1 seed.
It ain't easy being cheesy
Michigan has games left with MSU and Indiana and then we have the B1G tourny. If Michigan losses 2 more games this year it may be tough to get a 1 seed. If they only lose 1 they make a good case for a spot on the 1 line. I know the hopes of winning the B1G title are slim, but it should be a very fun ending to the season.
Do we want to be a #1 seed? I mean, sure, it sounds nice, but the way that the top teams have been going down would it be better to fly under the radar as a 2 seed? Well, as "under the radar" as a 2 seed can be, I guess.
Well, I'd rather just win out, so let's just do that.
Can't believe everyone was giving so much love to Florida when their best win comes over Marquette and the next best is Middle Tennessee State. They're good, no doubt, but have got to have one of the softest schedules.
HAIL.
You want to be the 1 seed because the probable 3 seeds (right now, per Lunardi: Louisville, New Mexico, Kansas, Arizona) appear significantly tougher than the 4's (G'town, Marquette, K. State, Okie State).
Obviously, some of the 3s will shift up, but there does seem to be a pretty clear dividing line after team 11 or 12. I could imagine Louisville, Kansas, or even Arizona getting hot and winning the tournament (I haven't seen NM play, but everyone says the MWC is a grinder this year). Hard to see that for any of the 4's.
Down Goes Frasier
and
Down Goes Florida
Beat Illini and back in the Top Five, no?
