i was really hoping that they'd say that all of PSU's subs on the sidelines had to sit down on the grass because JoePa couldn't see.

to be a section in the Big House that does not allow standing so older fans can see the game. In my section for the Purdue and OSU game people stood most of the time. There was an elderly couple in the row in front of me who had significant issues with arthritis in their knees who could not tolerate the constant up and down activity that one has to perform to see play after play when everyone in front of you is up. The woman was especially impaired- I don't even know how she made it 33 rows down to get to her seat. We had OSU fans this year who defiantly stood the entire game and did not care whose view they were impeding. The same happened at PSU in 2006 in the Michigan section that almost led to a fist fight before ushers warned and eventually removed the PSU fan impeding the view of fans behind him. I do not mind standing since I usually stay warmer on cold days and my gluteal area is becoming less fond of the metal benches we now sit on. People who insist on standing for entire games who have seats lower in the stadium need to be aware that not everyone who is behind them has the physical capacity to stand up repeatedly for four quarters.

Personally, I like standing at the game. I like when people around me stand. I know that they are as into the game as I am. I guess when I get old(er) I will probably still stand. That way my Depends won't leak when I sit.

What they really need to do is designate sections. Some "No Standing" sections, some "Standing Sections" and the student section. The rest of the stadium can have the option. And if you say "Well I've been in the same seats for x years and I give 10k every year to the athletic department, too damn bad. This is a football game, you don't get to tell people what to do when they want to give the team an advantage and all you do is sit there. And if you have arthritis in your knees or any other health problem which makes it difficult for you to get to your seat, go to the disabled section.

Had tickets to the Titans v Colts game last Sunday. My buddies and I got hooked up front row. We got yelled at to sit down while the players were out stretching...30 minutes before kickoff. Now THAT pissed me off. Come on, we were so excited to have front row seats that we were standing up looking around and get called assholes (granted my friends had on Titans jerseys in Indy)before the game even starts which I thought was pretty ridiculous.

I have no problem with standing at a football game. That being said, I do have a problem with the dude in row 30 who decides he's going to stand up the entire game (halftime included), even if he's the only one in the section who stands up, and then acts like he doesn't hear the 10 people around him asking him to sit down. It's not one person halfway up the bowl's job to dictate what everyone behind him will have to do to see the game. It's called being considerate, and so many of the "UP IN BACK!" types I have encountered at Michigan sporting events in the last two years seem to completely lack any semblance of consideration and empathy for those around them. And for those of you who say that elderly people should "move to the disabled section," who are you to tell someone who has been coming to Michigan games before your parents were born where they can and cannot sit? The adorable old couple who have sat behind my family for 30+ years didn't see a single play of the Ohio State game. To their credit, they didn't make a big deal out of it, but I felt badly for them that they would make the effort to come all the way to the Stadium and essentially see nothing because a bunch of twenty-somethings wanted to prove a point and stand up the entire game in an alumni section.

I like to stand at the games. When we make a good play or score I am estatic,clapping,whistling,cheering,and high fiving everyone around me. I love the game of football(started at 6)and Ilove Michigan. It's tough for me sit down and clap, I would have done anything(well not anything, I know what some of you are thinkin, but you know what I mean) to play football at this level. These kids go out there every Saturday and play their hearts out for Michigan, therefore when I am at the games I feel like its my duty as a fan to support them to the best of my abilites(see above). Now,that being said I am also respectful of people around me. If someone has a problem with me standing I will sit down. I'm not one of those people who is the only one in the section standing the whole game while everyone else is sitting. If you think about it,standing makes it easier,your already standing so there's no need to keep getting up. I also understand some folks cannot do this. If there was an elderly couple behind me I would sit. But when we have a big play or score I will stand and cheer like crazy. Then promply turn around and give them a play by play of what happened. They appreciate it believe it or not. Generally because they have no idea what just happened,because as soon as I see the play develop I spring to my feet with glee. And for that, I apologize. I cannot help it. The bottom line is we are all there for the same reason. To cheer for Michigan. But do so respectfully. Just my thoughts.
