True Blue In Ohio

I posted on the previous thread on this.  I feel so bad for this kid.  First, the Freep does a hackjob and now political red tape in admissions.  Everyone deserves a second chance and also a chance to prove themselves.  This is HIS dream.  Shame on admissions for doing this to him.  He was only the highest ranked recruit for the entire Big Ten by some authorities.

His scores aren't that bad. I don't see why he wouldn't be let in because of them. I know people on the football team who had their GPA in the 2s.

I just don't see a real reason to not admit him. Unless something has happened since signing day, I expect him to play for the wolverines next fall.

You've proven yourself to be a reliable and knowledgeable source in the past.  Is this "gut feeling" based on a source not available to the rest of us or just optimistic speculation?  Either is fine, I'd just like to know whether your gut feeling should carry any additional weight.  (See what I did there?)

Angelique says a source was saying that he could qualify at Florida State.   Gosh that makes my blood boil.  I'm sure RichRod et al are busting their asses to get this kid in.

Also, there could be something else we haven't heard about yet...

Remember Justin Turner and Jeremy Gallon last year? They weren't enrolled until fall camp started.

Let's just let this work itself out. Sam Webb has not said he WILL NOT be let in, just that he had his doubts. He's setting up the predictable "anti-RR" story which will send the premium board aflutter.

Of course, if Dorsey is let in, it'll be proof that NEW U, and David Brandon, are in Rich Rod's corner.

Blah to both.

Maybe something has come to the surface since signing day, causing Michigan to back off on their committment to Dorsey. Whatever is happening behind the scenes, deals directly with Dorsey, I don't think this speaks at all to Michigan recruiting in general.

I found it a little odd that Dorsey dropped Florida a week before signing day, talked about USC and Florida State and then inexplicably signed on with Michigan.

Come on guys, let the kid in already. We already knew about his off the field issue when he committed and he seems to want a new start. You couldn't stop him for wanting a new start.

was a win even if he does not get admitted.  Big time recruit from Football alley and M still has juice enough to sign him after 3-9 and 5-7.  Of course, him actually attending and being a stud would make matters even better, but I think that the secondary will shore up with our without him by the end of the season.

And I know that M has high academic standards, but I think it is safe to say that football players don't have to be Pulitzer worthy students to get it, even in Ann Arbor.  If he can't make the cut, or he is too much trouble despite being able to qualify, probably better in the long run if he isn't here...

will look to potential recruits in the future? The way we did Witty and now with DD, if you'r a top recruit with borderline grades...why the hell would you commit to UM? If they don't think kids are gonna know what happened they're nuts. Either way this shit isn't right, i'm beyond frustrated!!

Maybe there is still hope even though some other reports out there are conflicting.  If he is not admitted, maybe a silver lining .... Doran Grant ?  Go Blue !!!

Maybe I'm reading into this more then necesarry, but this seems like a big deal to me. It seems like the University is pulling the rug out from under this kid. I have lost a lot of respect for U of M today. IMO, Dorsey wants a second chance and wants to get away from the negative influences in his home town; but it seems like the University's Admissions Department under the orders of some higher up, has taken things into their own hands and inhibited RR's recruiting class because of some articles from the Free Press.

I'm waiting to see how this plays out, but the way it appears to me now, it seems like a complete lack of character by the University.

fact that Dorsey has had an established backup plan all along (the Juco). Since he has a backup plan, he must have known that Michigan admissions would be a problem, even if he passed the clearinghouse.

Apparently, his other backup plan is to attend FSU (I would guess in the event that M doesn't let him in, but he passes the clearinghoouse), so he is prepared (which shows he has solid character and smarts) and the University was up front with him.

I believe this photo best demonstrates the results of numerous kicks to the groin we Michigan fans have endured over the last 18 months.
