What's Ernest Shazor doing these days?
September 7th, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
And Marlin Jackson, too. And didn't Stevie Brown just get cut recently?

Jeremy LeSeuer? (spelling?)
September 7th, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
It appears Marlin Jackson is in Philly.

He was released on Saturday. Free agent now.
Our DBs in the pros have been the opposite ends of the extreme. Woodson and Law will get strong HOF consideration and Hall appears to be Pro Bowl caliber. MJ, LeSuer, Shazor, Warren -- not so much.

Yeah I see Jackson is no longer on their roster.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
I don't disagree, except I'd add that Woodson is a LOCK.

Marlin was making picks in championship games to seal a Super Bowl appearance with the colts until 2 knee surgeries and now an achilles tear. He was a good player in the league.

He made one memorable pick but even then he only came on the field in nickel and dime packages before the injury bug. Safe to call him a disappointment considering his first round status.

He was a solid starter in Indianoplis for a while, FWIW. Sadly his best years are probably behind him. And Indianapolis wasn't exactly a good defensive team when he was there.

It didn't help that Bob Sanders was always hurt. We had a great defensive backfield when he was in, and Marlin was definitely part of that. But between the glass constitution of Sanders and a generally lousy rush defense, you're right.

He was a good player in the league regardless of how high his expectations were.

Schilling got cut too right?
September 7th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Schilling got picked up by the Chargers practice squad

That's too bad for Steve. I hope another team picks him up. But, I always thought he had a disappointing career at Michigan - especially being a 5* HS player. He never became the dominating offensive linemen most of us hoped he would. He'll always be a Michigan Man though no matter where he ends up.

Stevie Brown did get cut by Oakland, but was picked up by Carolina on waivers and believe is on the active roster as well

Good for him..

I never thought it was a good idea for DW to go pro, but still, I'm stunned that he didn't get drafted and has had such a hard time catching on since. Hell, a few months before that draft, it was seen as a decent idea for the Lions to take him in the third round.
He was a good, instinctive player here who had NFL written all over him as a freshman and had a very nice junior year. Doesn't make sense to me. Apparently, he's one of the few examples of 40 times not being overrated.

pick up son

It would be great if Donovan could make up at least some of the development he lost blowing off his senior year on the Lions scout team.
I don't know if it was his agent or not but whoever told him he should leave early gave him some really bad advice.
The jump to the pros is huge. Consider how much a rookie quarterback struggles.
With perhaps a few freak exceptions, college football players need the 4 years to mature physically, develop their skills and technique, and develop their character.

try to switch his position to safety. Amari Spievey came into the league lacking the footspeed to play corner (similar to Warren) and switched to safety. He's now starting for the Lions.

Good luck to him. Welcome back to the area
September 7th, 2011 at 2:55 PM ^
we could sneak him into a #8 jersey and he could be JT Floyd for a few games or maybe just this Saturday?
September 7th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
It would be pretty cool to see him get in some time with the team in an actual game. I like to see former Wolverines on the hometown team whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Lets go all out and get C Woodson then ND will only have one half of the field to work with.
