Donovan Warren Makes NFL Preseason Primetime
Unexpectedly early Donovan Warren sightings in the Steelers-Eagles preseason game, sent in a few times with the Pittsburgh starters. Camera time included an appreciative pat on the bum from Coach Tomlin as he ran to the sidelines, and he shared a sack of Michael Vick with James Harrison. Pretty heady company for an undrafted rookie who didn't even get to play for the Jets in preseason last year due to early injury. Pittsburgh ahead 24-0, and with their depth on defense it says something about their opinion of Donovan that he was already playing in the first quarter, and kept in for much of the play afterwards. He's currently leading the defensive stats with less than 6 minutes to go in the game. (Just heard he made another play, but I missed it for obvious reasons.)
In other alumni news, Lamarr Woodley gets his requisite big play, plus a sidelines interview about his salary. He confesses that he gets teased because he's still a cheapskate. Larry Foote made a beautiful interception with the second team.

Woodley got paid?

Woodley most certainly got paid.

Haha. This deserves a new thread. Why haven't we heard about this?

"Camera time included an appreciative pat on the bum"
You certainly have an eye for all the details of preseason NFL games...

Those little things mean a lot.

Not to piss on Donavan Warren's parade (I wish him the best) but it is preseason. And these games mean probably a quarter as much as the practices do. Hence the sarcasm.

and was answering in kind. Considering the level of competition in this game, the cameramen had to search for excitement where they could find it.

Aikman has commented on "Donovan Warren #30" multiple times - he's getting some airtime.
GO BLUE!

The Eagles just scored a last-minute TD but they're still down by 10 with :19 on the clock. Either the Steelers are extra hungry this year, or it's just the pre-season and nobody cares yet.

sack on Vick, a nice solo open-field tackle and a dropped INT that I saw. He looked pretty good out there. I actually had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly when he had the sack in the first half against the starters.

I saw Ryan Mundy make a tackle. I guess he is really working on getting his "yards after Mundy" down.

What is the obvious reason you missed the play?
August 18th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
And editing out the explanation that would have made it more obvious.

The Steelers defense is so fucking good every year. I'm sure playing with Polamalu, Ike Taylor and the rest of that secondary (and rest of the defense for that matter) will only help Donovan's career

I hope DL uses him this year. I'm sure he'll serve the Stillers better than Willie Gay.

at the end of this game Joe Buck asked Bradshaw who he liked as a surprise team this year and Terry talked about the Lions for a good couple minutes or so. They all agreed that IF Stafford stays healthy that Detroit will be a solid team this year.
I think everyone would agree but I don't think I can ever remember broadcasters saying too many good things about a Lions team before the season even starts. So in a way it was music to my ears.
THIS COULD BE THE YEAR OF THE LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you guys knock the tar out of Green Bay and Philly when you play them.

I live in Pittsburgh. On the radio before the game, they were talking about Warren. They said he would get some chances tonight because the Steelers are ravaged with injuries in the secondary. The Steelers also signed a few other DBs this week.
It is pre-season, so stats mean nothing. However, if any defense can steer Warren, it is Pittsburgh. I hope he sticks.
Pittsburgh has the best D in the NFL - and look at all the Michigan alum on the roster.

I commend him for aiming high, but damn, last year's Jets seemed like the worst place for a DB to find a permanent roster spot. I feel like he could have made a team last year if he had gone almost anywhere else. I hope Pittsburgh works out better for him.

see Warren look good. Hope he makes the team.
