Donnie Corley to MSU

Submitted by Feel The Strength on
Donnie Corley just committed to Sparty, as many anticipated. The funny thing is the man interviewing him asked him how it would be joining two of his former teammates in "Ann Arbor" The Disrespekt continues haha.

I would not mind seeing us reach that ceiling next year.  I would not write off MSU.  They have a good QB coming in and perhaps the top 1-3 WR recruits.  Also, very good DL recruits.  We will be better than them, but it is not going to be easy.

I think you're confused on what a ceiling is. MSU should have known, even with one of the best QBs in their program's history, they lucked their way into the playoffs and had no shot at winning it. Our ceiling is actually winning a national championship. We don't have the same ceiling as MSU. Why would you want to get dominated in a bowl game by a far superior team?

MSU's ceiling is limited by their inability to recruit like a national championship caliber team. I swear there's some stat that most or all of the national champions recruit at a top 10 level year in and year out.

They develop players like crazy but there's a ceiling to that. When you meet an Alabama or some other school that's stocked with talent you just get crushed. You can develop great starters, but I'd say it's damn near impossible to recruit mostly 3* guys and develop an entire two-deep that can roll with Alabama

At what point did I say "domination" either. The fact is that Michigan won all three facets of that game and was leading on the scoreboard (thanks to the offense) prior to the debacle.

That is year one Harbaugh.

iJohnB can feel free to parse whatever stats support his argument but the fact is it wasn't "year 3" or "when his recruits get in" or whatever was said of Hoke. Harbaugh showed up and punched Sparty in the mouth.

They got lucky. What else needs to be said?

am not "parsing" anything, I don't have a particular argument, and I do believe we will get the best of State soon. It is just odd to me that you consider the most horrifying home loss possibly in the history of the program to be a "mouth punch" to Sparty, particularly when they then beat OSU to go to the playoff. I am not trolling here, but your thought process is rather delusional. If that is what getting punched in the mouth feels like sign me up.

That "horrifying" home loss (and it was, I was there) was several seconds from a Michigan win. Why did that happen?  A 1 in 1000 special teams debacle. Go back to the preseason and look at the predictions threads, hell, go to RCMB and note the dismissiveness on Harbaugh beating Sparty year 1.

Sparty and their fans, clearly, expected to show up and blow up Michigan (as, sadly, they had in many of the past few years). That did not happen. With Hoke's recruits, with shit refs, with Bolden's ejection, with that Sparty defense.

When the punter came on the field Michigan was leading as they had the ENTIRE game. It was only a special teams lottery win (and a bunch of non-calls on the return) that pulled that out for Sparty.

My point is that in year 1, with Hoke's recruits, Harbaugh caught up and should have surpassed. Don't see how you call that thought process delusional so, yeah, stop trolling.

trolling here, and I don't know why.

You also have to know they didn't so much beat OSU, as Meyer rolled over and played dead.

Then when you say "they beat OSU to go to the playoff" you didn't bother to mention how that turned out, although, anyone here, or anyone anywhere who watched the game, knows that Sparty failed to even score a FG in that game and was manhandled up and down the field.

UM was outgained 386- 230, bro.  You guys couldnt move the ball at all and were consistently set up with great field posistion.  I am not delusional about the fact that you guys are going to be very good as long as Harbaugh is there, but MSU was still the better team this year.  Good luck in EL next year.  Im sure your confidence level will be very high going in to that game, as always.

Points. Thank God for you that no recruits interested in sparty live outside Ohio and Michigan. That's the real issue. Zero ... yes zero again ... national interest equals ... if you ever get to a playoff again ..it's a loss. Sorry... just facts

We needed extreme good fortune in the final seconds to win the game. But you can't seriously argue that you guys won the 3 facets of the game. Offense is a major facet, I believe, and you guys didn't win that one. Maybe some of you should rewatch the game if you haven't yet

Outscored your offense in points, which measures the winner of that facet, yes? Points more than yards gained--that's what I hope to get. State only scored more points because of the miracle play, which I will concede was even possible because the second half offense switched its gear in the second half to managing the game with a two score lead. When you have to use "bro" as a way of addressing somebody you sound like a teenage boy, at least, and a real meathead at worst. We are not playing euchre or doing keg stands at the same house.

But in this case I will make an exception.

How many wins (in a row) would Sparty need to equal Michigan's lead in the all time series? Exactly. So slow your roll there.

That light at the end of the tunnel? It's the train, and Harbaugh is driving it. I know that your worst fear as a Sparty is to go back to how it was when Lloyd was at Michigan. Well, that's coming except it's going to be much, much worse

Enjoy.

You had the huge luck pass to the fullback and some very nice throws by Cook to Burbridge. As descent as them players are, Cook played out of his ass that day with them throws. Michigan's offense was better but yards didnt show it. The offense that played in the Florida game would've really smacked you posers around. That's the truth.

You could also use points scored as the indicator of who the better team is, which is a broadly accepted metric.

As for Michigan being arrogant...well, just look at this thread. Third place in the B1G East is considered a guarantee that Harbaugh will win a national championship. Losing to your rivals is a guarantee that you will beat them in the future. Losing at home to a Michigan State team starting two true freshmen at safety, down three starting offensive linemen, a starting linebacker, and a starting CB is somehow being spun as "punching them in the mouth". It's not necessarily arrogance, but it is the intriguing mixture of arrogance and delusion that has sustained Michigan fans through every offseason for the past decade.
