Miles' shadiness is my biggest concern too, and I would hope DB would grill him on that in advance of a hire, especially in light of all the controversy RR caused.

I'm just saying I keep seeing a complaint from Brian and others that he's "too old".  What's too old in college coaching?  Lloyd wasn't ancient but coached like he was 100 years old; Miles is starting to get up there but coaches like a college kid at a casino.  More importantly, I think in light of a lot of the younger coaches in today's game, there's some stigma people are assigning to "older" coaches.  If the guy's a winner and doesn't look like he's going to retire by the end of the contract due to age, I'd say we're ok.

Therefore, I don't think this age crap is anything but that; the questionable reputation is what warrants close investigation.

why do people act like "following the process" is a costless thing?

Dallas Crawford's coach just gave an interview yesterday where he blasted the shit out of Dave Brandon and said that if Brandon had made a decision one way or the other a month ago most of these kids that we're mad we lost probably would be going to UofM.

What's this crap worrying about all the recruits?  If a guy felt that strongly about RR, more power to him, but if he was only coming to Michigan for that coach, then so be it--let the new guy bring in HIS recruits that fit his system.

And enough of this BS about "Why didn't he fire RR before the bowl?"  Why should he do that?  He always intended on evaluating RR AFTER the season, which somehow included a bowl this year.  Even after that, I like to think that he gave RR a fair shake in their lengthy meeting, although I'm guessing his mind was made up at that point.  Nobody but those guys knows what happened, but my guess is that DB was hoping for some sign of progress in the bowl, and then RR produced that abortion of a game, showing no sign of having had that much time to prepare, and that was the last straw after all the losing, especially the conference losses.

Again, I call that DB rationally following his process, analyzing things in their own time and making the best decision with all the data.  People can be pissed that the firing/coach search didn't start sooner, but a lot of what DB's done since he took over has impressed me and I trust his judgment more than anybody on this board or in the media.

Brandon couldn't dictate the terms of availability of the top candidates, none of which would have been available a month ago.  If he fired Rodriguez earlier things would have only been worse.

As said, it's not Les Miles age, don't know how you got this impression.  People, including myself, think Les Miles is an asshole because of the way he oversigns.  Brandon fired Rich thinking he'd Harbaugh most likely.  He didn't, and his back up plans seemed to only be Les Miles and Brady Hoke.  While Miles has won games, that isn't exactly the big name to be excited about, especially when he didn't come three years ago.

To quote Brian's dubious analysis,

"I've made my opinion clear on this: Miles is old, has enthusiastically adopted the tao of SEC, and just saw his program take a more serious hit from the NCAA than Rodriguez did."

Again, I don't dispute the worries about his ethics--that has to be the #1 concern after our last coach was raked over the coals for not having any, despite the fact that the opposite was try, all media assertions aside.  But I've seen several people around here worried about his age, and I just don't get it.  The guy's not Paterno, he's not Carr, and his age doesn't play into this thing.  More importantly he's not some paleolithic Bo-era, three yards and a cloud of dust coach.  Stop with the age B.S. now.

It's Richard Nixon. Tanned, rested and ready ... it's only rumored that he's dead. He called a play in Super Bowl once. And leadership-- he's got it in spades. Plus, he can open up the market in China.

People on TiggerDroppings are saying that after the Domino's plane left, LM went to a nearby BBQ joint. They seem to be serious about it.

LM, I am most curious about who he brings and what UM is willing to pay the assistants.  My fear is mutiny against Miles and all the assistants decide to stay with the new LSU coach that is hired.  LM without his staff is a swing and a miss!

I can't wait to see if this is all a bunch of bull or how much is true.  Seems like everything is adding up to Les.  It is entertaining - more than the NC game - which WOW, fake punt!

Anyway, I can't wait until tomorrow - here's to not working!

This is what I think of Les Miles....

"There he goes.  One of God's own prototypes.  A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.  Too weird to live and too rare to die."

Per AA.com and Troy:

Troy Woolfolk, a cornerback on for Michigan, used his Twitter account to say that Michigan has called a 4 p.m. players meeting on Tuesday.
