Does he have two points now?
Hockey pet peeve: "when a teammate tips a puck in on you, which is exactly how my first collegiate goal against happened. Thanks, Copper."
Does he have two points now?
are bigger than others . . .
Far be it for me as a low point member to question someone, but why, pray-tell, should I take any stock in your sources when you've been a member for all of 10 minutes? Where have you and your sources been since this nonsense started?
He's been a member for 15 minutes and 10 seconds,,,about three minutes less than how long it takes Brett Bielema to read the M Club banner.
Dang still can't +1 you
It has been 12,833 days since Les Miles touched the banner! DB, bring him home.
Can you imagine that feeling after all these years.
A plus one in my heart for that comment.
you've joined Mgoblog just to post that.
Is Kelly's goal to see how many crazy plays he can pull out in one game. He's at about 5 in 20 minutes.
Should be a decent transition if this is true
Is anyone actually going to Willow Run?
Now that's a savvy pilot. +1 to you
My sources tell me the plane is just carrying more donated human organs on their way to the Dominos test kitchen.
Dammit, I wanted to posbang this.
Report from Baton Rouge media
My pants just got a little tighter in the front.
Brandon and two other Michigan representatives left the meeting and were taken to Baton Rouge Metro Airport in a Cadillac Escalade, where they were seen boarding Brandon's Domino's Pizza plane at 7:40 p.m. The plane left moments later.
the portly fella who points alot must have been Brady Hoke
Or Terrelle Pryor's mother
Maybe somebody in Ann Arbor was just a jerk and called Domino's delivery from Dallas.
I don't think Brandon has to interview Miles or Harbaugh. He's known them both a long time. I heard him on a radio interview say that he had a list and he had added and subtracted from it over the months as he learned more about different candidates.
During the press conference It was pretty clear to me that talks with Harbaugh never progressed to Brandon because the "handlers" never could establish he wanted the job. With Miles I'm betting the "handlers" have established his desire/conditions to come to Ann Arbor and are nailing down all the details. Brandon either has the authority or has to get it from MSC. The meeting with Miles will be just a formality (unless somebody pulls back). Thus, "if offered the job, Miles will likely accept" and that bizarre statement from Miles today.
Who knows what the planes are about. I wouldn't think BR is the ideal spot to meet with Miles' team but maybe there are others involved.
If Brandon pulls this off, he deserves a lot of credit. A deal like this is hard as hell to orchestrate, a million things could go wrong and would have gone wrong if some of the arm chair ADs here had been in charge.
Brandon was on that plane. It's been reported by a number of outlets at this point.
No way, I would have,Fucked.Shit.Up.
I just received a text from a booster that Les Miles is on the plane. We should know soon.
FlightAware doesn't track flights to Bolivia.
He has been a very reliable source in the past. We should know in a half hr. Who is heading out to Willow Run?
that's one of the funniest lines i have read all day. Plus to you sir.
It's been reported on tigerdroppings that he was sighted at a restaurant after the meeting. He was eating with his wife.
And a few posts later it is found out that guy posting that was just fucking around. Don't put too much stock in Tiger Droppings.
yeah I just seen that. my bad. I still don't see him coming here. He is supposed to be in Texas tomorrow
Me either but I have to think they might let him out of that conference if in fact he did take the offer. I don't believe anything until I see it though.
Why is everyone so excited about Miles all the sudden? You want your coach to be ruthlessly made fun of by Orson Swindle every week?
I used to be able to enjoy the Alphabetical, now I'm just going to wince.
No. We should only hire people who are pre-approved by Orson Swindle. This far outweighs program stability and a return to recruiting prominence.
Domino's just wanted their damn plane back already, and DB is still in Baton Rouge talking to Miles.
The pieces will come together when we find out where this plane is heading tomorrow.
If I were Richrod, I wouldn't let Rita out of my sight once Les steps foot in AA.
just hand delivering a new pie to make up to the guy who had all his toppings and cheese stuck to the top of the box.
If a Miles deal gets done, can we please end this "OMG Brandon screwed up the coaching search" meme? So far he's followed his process while ignoring the rabble-rabbleing masses and I really can't fault anything he's done so far.
Also, which number will be larger: "Shoelace" references during 2011 season TV broadcasts or Brian Cook "B-b-but Miles is oooooooooold" complaints?
The primary complaint isn't Les Miles' age. It is the shady shit he's done in the last few years
Miles' shadiness is my biggest concern too, and I would hope DB would grill him on that in advance of a hire, especially in light of all the controversy RR caused.
I'm just saying I keep seeing a complaint from Brian and others that he's "too old". What's too old in college coaching? Lloyd wasn't ancient but coached like he was 100 years old; Miles is starting to get up there but coaches like a college kid at a casino. More importantly, I think in light of a lot of the younger coaches in today's game, there's some stigma people are assigning to "older" coaches. If the guy's a winner and doesn't look like he's going to retire by the end of the contract due to age, I'd say we're ok.
Therefore, I don't think this age crap is anything but that; the questionable reputation is what warrants close investigation.
why do people act like "following the process" is a costless thing?
Dallas Crawford's coach just gave an interview yesterday where he blasted the shit out of Dave Brandon and said that if Brandon had made a decision one way or the other a month ago most of these kids that we're mad we lost probably would be going to UofM.
Getting the right coach in place is more important than simplifying the deicsion for a few recruits.
What's this crap worrying about all the recruits? If a guy felt that strongly about RR, more power to him, but if he was only coming to Michigan for that coach, then so be it--let the new guy bring in HIS recruits that fit his system.
And enough of this BS about "Why didn't he fire RR before the bowl?" Why should he do that? He always intended on evaluating RR AFTER the season, which somehow included a bowl this year. Even after that, I like to think that he gave RR a fair shake in their lengthy meeting, although I'm guessing his mind was made up at that point. Nobody but those guys knows what happened, but my guess is that DB was hoping for some sign of progress in the bowl, and then RR produced that abortion of a game, showing no sign of having had that much time to prepare, and that was the last straw after all the losing, especially the conference losses.
Again, I call that DB rationally following his process, analyzing things in their own time and making the best decision with all the data. People can be pissed that the firing/coach search didn't start sooner, but a lot of what DB's done since he took over has impressed me and I trust his judgment more than anybody on this board or in the media.
Because you don't race out and hire a coach just to save a few recruits for one year. One year does not rebuild a program.
Why don't we let our new coach recruit his guys, instead of the typical RR class--20 WR/RBs, a 3-4 star QB and an unrated LB/DB
Brandon couldn't dictate the terms of availability of the top candidates, none of which would have been available a month ago. If he fired Rodriguez earlier things would have only been worse.
