Dohrmann says more to come..
Dohrman thinks that Tressel could end up going back to Youngstown State or a smaller school. He doesn’t think that he’ll go right into a major program. One reason is the NCAA will attach sanctions with Tressel for the next school he goes to — if he comes back to coaching.
Really? That seems incredibly unlikely (going back to Youngstown)
Who knows if he would even be welcome back. That said, I doubt Tressel coaches again.
will outweigh any illegalities in the public mind, and his rep will be tarnished forever. I see him doing the Christian rubber chicken circuit.
Dohrmann admits that there's more to the story that SI couldn't write because it couldn't prove. Probably allegations that are wildly more salacious than a few tattoos and some weed.
In which case, yesterday might just have been the first gift your mom and dad let you open in the middle of December when you just can't take the wait anymore. And it's a pair of socks. The GI Joe with Kung Fu grip is still waiting under the tree.
GD shouldn't be doing such a grand victory-lap. His story wasn't all that. Plus, most responsible journalists don't say "There's more, but we couldn't prove it." There's only more if you can prove there's more. He's crossing the line of fairness and ethics -- which one really shouldn't do when accusing someone else of being unethical.
Perhaps, but it is productive nonetheless. Already we are seeing Dohrman's article causing competition from other news sources. ESPN and other are now out interviewing business owners in Columbus. Ding, Dong.
I can't imagine investigators in suits being welcomed to the "a bad part of Columbus."
at a D-1 school. He might need to wait 2 or 3 years, but a school will come knocking and 10 years from now, there will be stories about how a changed Jim Tressel has turned the program at ___ around. Remember Steve Fisher.
It is not my recollection that Steve Fisher was ever shown to have the level of culpability that has now been pretty conclusively proven to have attached itself to Jim Tressel. It is true that Steve Fisher was fired but not because of the sort of sanctions against him that Tressel is likely to have the NCAA impose against him and not because he repeatedly lied to the university and to the NCAA about any violations. It is totally unfair to say anything that suggests Steve Fisher is the dishonest sort of person that Tressel has been shown to be.
Steve Fisher wasn't anything like as cut and dry as this. In fact a lot of people feel he got a raw deal.
By far the most interesting part of the interview with Dorhmann is in the last min When DP asked him if he was done digging when it comes to OSU . . . His response was point blank NO I'm not Done!! One would think there are more serious allegations to come in the future as he alluded to the fact that certain things are hard to get in print right now with all the Legal people involved.
$5 bucks says that there will some Mens Basketball information that comes to a head before the start of the season this November. We all know that big time football players have only one true equal and that is the Mens B-Ball team. You cant tell me that in the last 8 years of this stuff going on that some B-Ball players were not involved.
What if Jim Tressel and Thad Matta were to lose their jobs in the same year?? I do believe that would be a first.
Way to go to OSU, you can now put a $ sign next to "The Price of Victory."
almost as good as reading the story. All day long they've been going to former buckeyes who're prepping Tressel for sainthood on the air and talking about how this year will be a year like none have ever seen before in Columbus (in a good way) and then Dohrmann brings us back to the real world where tUOS is doomed.
I'd imagine he'll have a "Show Cause" tag on him from the NCAA. Even if a school wants him, they'll have a hard time making it happen.
