Dog Names for Michigan fan
I have one dog named Maizey, not too original but I was lazy. For my next dog I was debating a couple names that would be better than simple Maize or Blue. I was thinking Bo, but that is used for dogs too much as it is.
This is what I came up with
Boy Dog:
Harmon
Howard
Woodson
Yost
Brady... I think overused as well but the old lady likes that one
Ford
Zoltan
Barwis
Girl Dog:
Schemmy
Hailiegh Victoria
Any thoughts?

When my dad was at Michigan, they had a dog that was hit by a car and had its eye removed. They named the dog Woodi (after Woody Hayes).
The running joke from there on out was "How do you spell our dogs name? With one 'i'". I thought it was clever.

I always thought a great name for a dog would be something that sounds really cool when you're driving around neighborhoods and helling his name into the night.
For example, since the guy who lives behind my parents' house's name is Dr. Labes, I wanted to name our dog "Doctor Labes."
So, ideas:
- Hail
- Blue (people will think you're from the south side of the stadium)
- Bo
- Dubbya-2-C (Wangler to Carter)

I said if I ever got a Chocolate Lab, I'd name it Porter for Kevin Porter. We don't have a Lab now (we have a Dachshund), but when we do ever get a Lab, that's what his name will be.
I like the usage of Cooper if it's a girl dog. I know someone who named her dog Ooster, and someone who named his dog Braylon.

This and "Easiest/Hardest Prof/Class at UM" are going to rival the "Michigan Bar in Chicago/Toronto/Dubai/Mogadishu?" threads pretty soon.

Or: Barkwis, Carter, Brady, Steele, Ooster. I kinda like just plain "BLUE" also. You could name two dogs "Ann" and "Arbor" (Arbor could be male or female). "Di" and "Lithium" would also work.
Another idea: train your dog as a puppy, instead of "do you have to go potty?", say "Do you have to take a Sparty?"

Name the dog Stay. Can you imagine how confused it would be? "Come here, Stay!" (yes, that's an old Stephen Wright bit)

My avatar is my dog Woodson, so that's obviously my recommendation.

+1 to you for referring to your wife as your "Old Lady" - I love it.

Funny to see this thread today.
I was waiting at the vet this morning when a young woman brought in an ADORABLE bulldog puppy named Lloyd. Super cute, and wearing a Michigan collar, natch. The staff were all meeting him for the first time, but the woman must be a regular patron because they asked, "And how is Schemmy [their other dog, obviously] adjusting to this new member of the family?" LOL.

Bo. That was the name of my first dog, only after my dad tried to name it Brutus (from Popeye, not the buckeye) and all I could pronounce at that age was "Bo."
Little did we realize how symbolic that naming would become.

My first dog - a black retriever mix - we named Blue. The plan was to get a second golden retriever and name it Maize. Never happened. Then shortly after Blue died, Bo passed away. At that point I knew my second dog would be named Bo.

.....Buuuuuuuut I am naming my first born son, Boden. "Bodie" for short , is how I tricked my wife into it. Much does she not realize is the fact he will be known as "Bo". I am not joking and I couldnt be happier with my decision.

My dog's name is Zoltan, but because she is a girl, we call her Zoey.
And because I mention her enough, here is a close-up. For reference, she is about 33 pounds.
And her rocking a UM doggy jacket

We named our black-and-white cockapoo Ann Arbor. We call her Annie.
That was actually my second choice. The wife rejected my first one: Lady Keith Hernandez.

I always thought it was somewhat degrading to name a dog after one of our beloved Michigan Men/Women.
So, I named my fat ugly mutt PERLES.

If you want a more cute/nauseating name try to put words about dogs into Michigan related things. "Barkwis" or something like that.
