Ronald Johnson from Muskegon!
alternate headline: man does job
Ronald Johnson from Muskegon!
While we're at it, throw in Nick Perry and Dillon Baxter too!
O let do it.
I will now take this opportunity to pimp my hometown...
Wait, there is really nothing in Muskegon. Well, anyway, please come back "home," RoJo!
Only if you are looking for a job.
I can't think of any other place I'd rather be in the summer.
The beaches in Muskegon are awesome, I will agree with you there. Though I think I'd rather wander around Grand Haven in a drunken stupor more so than Skeetown.
I am not so biased that I can't admit that Grand Haven is the more desireable tourist attraction. The compact downtown with the boardwalk to the beach is a top notch draw. Although I will say that I think Pere Marquette Beach is significantly more desireable than the Grand Haven State Park, I can see why people would prefer Grand Haven. If the Brewery ever opens in downtown Muskegon, the scale may tip in favor of Muskegon for the better night life.
However, my preference has to do with the "who" as well as the "what."
Muskegon is like the friend who tells you your shirt is ugly because it is. Grand Haven is like the friend who tells you your ugly shirt looks nice because that's what you want to hear.
Summer Celebration! actually the lineup is crap this year IMO. I love my home town.
Ronald Johnson is a Senior and Nick Perry is a RS Sophomore. Those are the only two I remember that we were really strong players for.
let's see if karma can play a role and give one back to the good guys.
After perusing the article about players in the B10 who are bousta blow up, it seems that there are quite a few receivers on the list. This could be great ammo for luring a JR/SR .
"We promise to put you on an island against the very best the B10 has to offer on a weekly basis. You can thereby prove to the NFL that you are the next Darrelle Revis."
A one-year rental of a super-stud DB really brightens the picture for the D this year.
See: today's report.
Man, what I would give to hear Keith Jackson announcing those names again...
"The USC running back tandem of REGGIE BUSH and LENDAAAAALE HWHITE...and there he gooooooessssss!"
"One man..... goodbye!............Hellooo Heisman"
I guess we could use some more depth on the OLine or Defensive Tackle
Unfortunately Campus Corner doesn't carry that much tequila.
A lot of the players from what I seen had offers from U of M. I also read, this would only apply to juniors and seniors since of the 2 year bowl ban. The others would not be able to transfer ala Dillon Baxter & Nick Perry (RS SO). They also stated that the other schools can start calling these guys about transfering if these type of sanctions are given.
but if they're a starting defensive back and can get admitted, I'm all in.
Let Ronald Johnson know that he can play both ways. We can give him a starting CB and WR position!!
Perry and Baxter are outside the range and would have to sacrifice a year. Still might be feasible if they perceive this as bad enough.
I wonder why Henderson decided to commit to them? He specifically waited to see what was going to happen - then committed anyway. I wonder if he'll do anything drastic.
As long as he doesn't go to OSU, I don't think it will impact UM. I don't think the vest can keep the rap deal with his dad and Snoop alive.
But motown and Coner could
I know he waited to announce -- do we know if he ever actually signed a LOI? Would have been a brilliant move on his part not to, it wasn't like USC was going to give his spot away, and it would let him switch out scot free now.
He claimed he was waiting to announce because of the NCAA hearings, but he only signed two days after getting a passing ACT score. So, we know why he wasn't signing - it had to do with eligibility, NOT USC's situation.
Does it really matter? He's an OL, who would be best served to redshirt anyway. I realize he was amazing in high school but imagine how great he will be with a year in under Barwis. Let him transfer, sit out a year, and start four at LT.
Seantrel come on down and bring Baxter with you! You guys can sit out one season and start four. That will get you multiple BCS berths and then you can go 1/2 in the draft.
Seantrel's Dad ran his recruitment.
He's about 35 and wants to be a rapper.
He's been promised a recording deal with Snoop Dogg.
That's why Seantrel is at USC.
Sanctions were the case that they gave me?
Hello: Ronald Johnson
ROJO's mom can stay in LA and help Lane 'coach'
Interesting thought... but our admissions department probably wouldn't clear them anyways. From what I recall, a lot of people have trouble transfering credits to Michigan (part of the reason why we don't get a lot of JUCOs).
I can't imagine that USC credits wouldn't transfer. I went to Colorado my freshman year and everything transferred just fine.
There's a difference between JUCO credits and credits from USC.
The real problem may lie in their credit situation though. You can only bring over 60 credits of classword max to Michigan, so any seniors that come wouldn't be coming over to get a degree (Juniors and RS Sophs would be ok)
Anyone coming from a big university will have no problems transferring their credits.
If you are quiet enough you can hear Mitch Mustain crying... "Why Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Is the starting spot at Arkansas still open?
Maybe Arkansas State...
You have to really feel for that kid.
If you are quiet enough you can hear Mitch Mustain crying... "Why Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And if you keep listening you can hear the football Gods say, "Karma, bitch! Stop being an egotistical primadonna."
is that the kids can't stay in the PAC-10 and take advantage of the transfer restriction waiver. COME EAST, young men...
Donovan Warren's last year of eligibility for Ronald Johnson and a Michigan in-state recruit to be named later
No thanks. I'd rather we win with the kids that want to be here.
If they transfer then isn't it clear that they want to be here?
We weren't the school they committed to originally. Now it would be a case of who would make room or is desperate for them.
Or, it's like having a chance with the hot chick all your friends have had a turn with...last.
UM IS deperate for experienced players, especially on defense. I know if I was UM, I'd take a couple DBs that could give you a year or two of competant to great play. With as good as UMs offense could be this year, any help the defense could gain would benefit directly in terms of wins on the field. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see UM win.
Closer to having her a couple years later than at the same party I would think. I hear what you're saying but I wouldn't mind a 1-2 year lease of some 4 and 5 stars that would be good fits with what RR and company are trying to do schematically and culturally. Consider it making up for the bare cupboard.
Knowing our luck, we'd snag a backup punter who tore his ACL the first time he tried to punt with one of Zoltan's old balls. We would later learn that the football used by Zoltan were actually made out of iron, as the added weight was needed to keep the ball in the field of play when he punted; otherwise, low-flying blimps would have been in danger of a football-sized puncture whenever the offense sputtered.
Any extra help/depth couldn't hurt.
Michigan would still need to fit them under the 25/85 scholarship limits. We know we have one available (Demar Dorsey's), but if we already have given out the remainder to walk-ons I do not see us taking those back. Anyone have any idea where we stand vis a vis scholarship limits?
we are 2-3 under the 85. This is why some people were talking about throwing in a token loss of 1 scholarship when the sanctions report came out since we couldnt hit the 85 limit this year.
When it all falls out and we pick up a couple of USC future first-rounders, you think RR will get the credit for knowing all this was going to happen and planning accordingly?
It won't happen.
Here's a list of possibles off the USC 2-deep that fit the criteria (Pos, Yr, Home state):
- Jordan Cameron (SE, Sr, CA)
- Zach Herberer (OG, Sr, CA)
- Kristofer Odowd (C, Sr, AZ)
- Michael Reardon (C, Jr, CA)
- Butch Lewis (OG, Sr, CO)
- Tyron Smith (OT, Sr, CA)
- Rhett Ellison (TE, Jr, CA)
- Blake Ayles (TE, Jr, CA)
- Stanley havili (FB, Sr, UT)
- DJ Shoemate (FB, Jr, CA)
- Allen Bradford (RB, Sr, CA)
- CJ Gable (RB, Sr, CA)
- Ronald Johnson (WR, Sr, MI)
- Travon Patterson (WR, Sr, CA)
- Armond Armstead (DE, Junior, CA)
- Christian Tupou (DT, Senior, CA)
- DaJohn Harris (DT, Junior, CA)
- Jurrell Casey (NT, Junior, CA)
- Hebron Fangupo (NT, Senior, CA)
- Malik Jackson (DE, Junior, CA)
- Michael Morgan (OLB, Senior, TX)
- Chris Galippo (MLB, Junior, CA)
- Malcolm Smith (OLB, Senior, CA)
- Shane Horton (OLB, Junior, CA)
- Drew McAllister (FS, Junior, CA)
- Marshall Jones (FS, Senior, CA)
- Shareece Wright (CB, Senior, CA)
- T.J. Bryant (CB, Junior, FL)
LBers and DBs plz!
If I recall, I think we were in the Top 3-5 for Marshall Jones back in 2007 or 2008.
Why would USC players go from one school with violations to us, another school hit with violations? This topic is pointless.
Because we punished ourselves accordingly and what the NCAA will do might be just slightly worse. Nothing like post season ban and 20 scholarships.
Because our helmets have wings
I think a great man (me) once (right now) said "all violations are not created equal"...
Really? I don't even have a rebuttal, I'm just kind of stupified.
we have a chance to... strike that.... WILL play in a bowl the next couple years... they do not.....
Just because the answer is no doesn't mean the topic is pointless.
Hey, I loves me some ROJO, but I'm not sure that the "completely uproot yourself from the place you've lived for three years (with Song Girls, no less!) for the chance to play in a mediocre bowl" deal is one I'd take.
The supa studs from USC will get drafted high anyway, which was likely the goal all along. T'aint the Rose Bowl, 'tis the dollah dollah bills, y'all.
This post is the perfect way to start my day. Ahh...browsing through the USC roster for possible transfers...gotta love it.
if they appeal, they could hold up the process long enough that they may be able to play in a bowl this year.
safety and linebacker, thank you.
now it's down to Oregon vs. Michigan...hopefully... Honestly Yruretagoyena is still a huge priority IMO and was the first thing I thought of when this hit.
Hopefully Andre's parents are reading up on Masoli et. al as well...
It would make me so happy to see that glorious 13-letter name sprawling all the way across the back of a Meechigan jersey, and wrapping around both sides. Would this be the longest name in our football program since Biakabatuka (coming in at a modest 11 letters)?
I hope we can get David Sills.
Heard that Lane is letting any Jr or Sr. that doesn't transfer sleep with his wife. My source is my third cousin's, half brother who delivers mail to USC's team bus driver or anonymous which seems to work for the paper when you are making shit up.
If Matt Barkeley transfers anywhere, some program would get a very special kid for 2-3 years. If I was Steve Sarkisian, I might put in that call, considering Sark recruited him to SC, and Barkeley could be the heir apparent to Jake Locker.
He's a sophomore, so this point is moot.
He'd only be missing one post season instead of two and the team wouldn't be playing 20 scholarships down to everyone else.
Why is this moot? I didn't say that he'd be able to play right away. I said that he could transfer, wherein he would have to sit out a year. He did not use his RS year last year, so he'd a RS sophomore for a team next year, and could play 2-3 years for some other program.
Here's a question: Assuming we bring in a Junior or Senior from SC and plug them into a starting spot in our secondary, what is the effect on team chemistry? I can't imagine the current M players would be super thrilled to have someone swoop in and grab a spot they had been here working for.
Obviously, this is all hypothetical, but it ran through my head.
It is no different than a freshman coming in and taking it away from the veteran.
Best case scenario is obviously us getting one or more USC transfers. But I would be happy to see nothing more than as many guys as possibly leaving USC to go somewhere. Preferrably guys who would be contributors.
The worse USC looks after all of this, the better.
