Does anyone know the latest on Weber?

Submitted by YoungGeezy on

I've seen a number of reports on the Weber/OSU saga, but I haven't seen much other than "Everyone with the exception of Ohio State is upset."

I know Weber's mom isn't a fan of UM after some morons attacked her son on social media, but I'm curious if there's any update on if he's for sure going to OSU, trying to get out of his LOI, considering Michigan, or somewhere else entirely.

Thanks guys. I'll hang up and listen.

Let's be honest here...75% or more of those "UM fans" attacking Weber on twitter are actually MSU/OSU mouthbreathers with the spare time to create a fake twitter and send those things to him. Not to say we don't have any bad apples (we definitely do) but they likely represent a smaller percentage of our fanbase than either of our rivals.

Nah, it's pretty close to the truth...as someone who has tried in the past to be a rational, non-commenting viewer of rival boards (always interesting to see the other side of things, especially when you go in with the knowledge that you will not agree with what you read), I have noticed that on 11W and RCMB, the number of threads about Michigan far, far outnumber the number of threads about MSU here. In fact, at the worst times on those two boards the stories about UM actually outnumber stories about MSU/OSU. It only makes sense that the same level of obsession carries over to "dirty tweeting" , if you will.

No one should ever tweet at any recruit, ever, so whoever's doing it is wrong.

Weber seemed hurt when MSU got a commit from Scott, then he seemed hurt when we added another RB on signing day, now he feels hurt that OSU's RB coach left for the NFL.  Now his mom feels hurt that our fans were nasty to him on the twitter.

I heard the family dog was hurt by Kanye West's actions at the Grammys last night.  That whole family needs some Ben Gay pain relief cream.

My gut tells me Karan Higdon is going every bit as good, if not better, than Mike Weber over the course of the next 4 years.  The true value of all the shenanigans OSU pulled is they're probably blackballed at Cass Tech going forward.

God, Urb is such a douche.

The News-Herald in Cleveland ran a story which included some comments from Thomas Wilcher indicating that, at this point, there is not even a guarantee that Weber would show up for fall camp in Columbus, but of course it is still the early part of February and who really knows. Either way, I very much doubt he gets released frol the LOI in a timely fashion if at all, even if it might be the better thing to do if Ohio State doesn't want a perpetually unhappy kid on the bench.

how many years will he stay at OSU?  I am betting on 2 years.  He gets a few token carries as a freshman or he redshirts all together.  They bring in the 5 star the next year and Weber gets even fewer carries and then he transfers to Youngstown State.

I suspect he'll just suffer through it.  Much will rely on how much playing time he sees; if he's stuck on the bench AND he's pissed about everything, I could see him leaving.  But if he gets integrated into the offense and feels like part of the team, he'll probably stick.

All I'm going to say if that I was in his situation I'd be looking for the nearest exit.  Ohio clearly played him for a fool and if he stays, well, he's just basically asking for more abuse.

We've spent a week debating... stalking and pawning over a kid who claimed Michigan was his dream school but couldnt make his mind up between Michigan and Ohio State... Its hard to feel bad for the kid who is about to get a free education while I'm taking out loans to stay in the school he passed over. He didn't want to come to Michigan he picked OSU to only get burned hope everything works out for the kid I know Iowa is always looking for Running Backs but I'm tred of this story.

Is Weber's mom for real with her comments.  Can you imagine what the OSU fanbase would have said if he flipped back to UM?

Hey Mrs. Weber, why don't you go back and google some of the things said to Kyle Kalis when he flipped to UM.  You might be shocked what your new favorite team and city had to say.

Even if the suckeyes release Weber they aren't going to allow him to sign with Michigan. The suckeyes may not even have any plans for him, they just didn't want Michigan to sign him.
