Why could they do it on the big stage? Sorry I don't see it happening props if they get to the semis.

But I think they have a better shot at running the table if Douglass and Novak decide they can start shooting again. They had a stat line during the MSU game about UM having 3 players in double figures and how we were 8-2 or something (I know we're undefeated w/ Manny and Peedi going for 20 or more but that doesn't happen as often) so I think we need 1 more player to step up so teams can't just focus on those two. I do think they can carry us for a game or two but to get through all 4 I think we need some 3 point love from our 3 point specialists.

There like a new season, just like bowl games. Did anyone see OSU and Michigan losing in their bowl games in 2006? Did anyone see #9 seed OSU win the Big 10 tourney or 13-18 Oakland University win there conference tourney? Just last year Mississippi State won there's last year to get in.

I forget the name of the tournament we played in earlier this year, but that does not bode well for this tournament. Beilein is known to be a great game-planner, but tournaments do not allow for sure game-planning. While Sims and Manny can both be studs, they need to follow a system to bring their talents out, and if the system and plan cannot be put fully into place by game-time, I don't think they can carry the team. That said, we always will have our chances, and this team has the talent if we can shoot the damn ball. Let's go blue!

A few years ago #11 seed Illinois made it to the final. So, it "can" happen. 4 in a row for any .500 team is obviously a lot to ask. Add the fact that they went 1-4 against OSU, Wis, Illinois (Their opponents in the 2nd (OSU) and 3rd (Wis or Ill) Vegas has UM at +10,000 to win the Big Ten tourney.

and no. If they shoot as badly as they did up in EL a few days ago, they can lose to Iowa. For the third year in a row, Michigan is the worst shooting team in the Big Ten for the entire season (conf and non-conf). Through all games, Michigan and Iowa are tied for dead last in overall shooting percentage. Michigan is last in 3-pt percentage at a lusty .298, with Iowa percentage points better than us.

Agree with others though that improved shooting will be a bigger factor than Sims or Harris taking over. The team has been ice cold from outside all year, but if LLP, Douglas, Novak, etc. can pick a good time to get hot the team has a puncher's/shooter's chance. We're only ten straight wins from a national title! Go Blue!

I think we can beat Illinois or Wisconsin, and who knows who'll make the championship game. I have a feeling PSU is going to nip someone.

They will have to shoot at least 40 percent from three-point land to have a chance. Until they get some bigs who can play and stay healthy, it is always going to be that way. They can shoot well for a game at a time, but not four in a row.

In Big 10 play, Michigan is: - 6-2 when Sims and Harris both score at least 15 points apiece - 3-7 when anyone other than Sims and Harris scores at least 10 points - 3-1 when Sims or Harris score at least 15 points apiece and someone else scores at least 10 points - 1-0 when Sims and Harris score at least 15 points apiece and someone else scores at least 10 points - 0-2 when two or more players other than Sims and Harris score at least 10 points - 0-1 when three players other than Sims and Harris score at least 10 points Best chance for success: Sims and Harris score at least 15 points apiece. Since that happened in 8 of 18 games (44.4%), there's not much chance this will happen in four games straight.

Love how everyone says we have been ice cold from 3 point land all year. At some point we have to realize that these guys cant shoot. Hope it comes together for them but Im not bettin tha house on it. Here's to beatin Iowa by 2 and ...

They have a better chance to carry Michigan through the Big 10 tourney than the regular season only because the sample size is much smaller. However, no.

the GrandDaddy of them all, the NIT. And sadly, if we lose on Sunday, then we'll be back to being NIT-inelgible. For better or worse (OK, just worse), it's the Big Dance or bust.

A .500 record has not been required for the NIT since the NCAA took over the tournament in 2006. They have not invited a sub-.500 team since this rule went into the place, but they are technically able to. I happen to agree with you that we'll make the NIT if we make it to Sunday and will not make it otherwise...just not for the reason mentioned.
