For all the talk about UM not facing a "real" defense this year does anyone think DRob can run for 200 and pass for 200 yards again this weekend?? At this point I think he can but I'm not ready to put any money down on it.
Do you think DRob can go 200/200again this week??
But we need to play perfectly. The OL needs to pancake their LB. Our Receivers and RB need to make blocks and plays. If we play our game, I think he could go 200/200 on anyone...let alone MSU.
It is 300/300?
Of course he can. I'm actually hoping for well over 200 passing and slightly under 200 rushing, because that would mean we probably got some other rushers involved as well.
then DROB will most likely see his numbers come down, which would not be the worst thing in the world
My magic 8 ball says,
"It is always possible"
therefore, yes I think it will happen.
"and the Meatball says 'yes"
...and he may need to for us to win.
i mean of course he can. Dilithium can go 200/200 against anyone. I think he will as long as he doesn't get injured.
He can go for 200/200 against anyone.
No chance. He will never be able to put up those numbers against a real defense.
Nah, just screwing around with you.
Of course he can! I honestly don't think that there is a defense out there that can really stop the combination of Denard and our awesome WRs and O-line.
My hand was so close to the neg vote reading your first two sentences. Thankfully I read quickly. I agree, the MSM and critics seem to be ignoring how dominant our O-line is playing, Denard isn't doing this alone.
Thankfully I read quickly.
Or neg slowly. Let's just agree that you have a relatively high reading speed:neg voting reaction ratio.
That's what people don't understand is our team can block. IIRC last year when the big ten did their tour of big ten fall camps, they said that Michigan's receivers worked on their blocking more than any other team n the big ten combined. This is a result of true team play. Don't get me wrong denard is bad ass but he couldn't get these numbers without the blocking down field. Long story short I'd like from him to claim the Big House total offense record this weekend. Hey anything is possible Brock told me so.
Yes, and I would say it's more likely than not.
I even think he could 300/200 (300 either way). I am not predicting it, just think it's actually reasonable given what he's done so far.
I understand per an excellent thread we had earlier this week, thank you Communist Football
(http://mgoblog.com/diaries/statistical-almanack-dilithium-10610), that 300/200 has happened only once. So I get how incredible of an accomplishment that would be.
But, we've already seen him go 200/200 twice with one being 240/240. It feels like it's an inevitability that he'll get 200/300 at some point. MSU's defense is not overtly stout, IMO.
I don't know what the actual mood of the MSU team is, but most all of what I've read makes me think they are under the impression that this game is "theirs to lose." So, play solid and you win. Against dynamic speed, that is an ideology that is catastrophically flawed.
Hail yes he can, but I think State may force us to throw more. They may not like that outcome, either.
you're right (regarding Denard having to throw more). Their run defense is better than their pass defense (which is actually quite bad). I really think Denard is going to torch their secondary with his arm.
Why are you yelling at me??
And, along with everyone else here, yes. I think he can.
I'm kind of expecting a lot more 20-40 yard runs and fewer that go for TDs. He may or may not get to 200 yards passing. I'll guess just under.
denard can cure cancer
In fact, this may be his best chance to go 300/200 all season (with the 300 through the air).
I think MSU will stuff the box all day, and Denard will "only" get 100 on the ground while getting 400 passing.
Their secondary has not played well. Just look at how ND shredded them. They're not good defending in space.
As much as Greg Jones is hyped, he does not have top end speed at the linebacker position.
I think he'll have an easier time getting to 200+ yards passing because they'll be so focused on the running game. Once they loosen up that D, the running lanes will open up.
State will put as many people in the box as they can. However i think Robinson torches them which opens up the run game so. I think 150-350 is more likely.
I really hope they do if their corners are as bad as people say. I'll take our WRs one on one with their DBs.
I'll be happy with the win and let the stats speak for themselves. GO BLUE!
So I understand that a lot of media and rival fans are saying that Denard hasn't played a tough run defense yet, but I wonder if it crossed their mind that the reason the teams we have played aren't ranked high nationally against the run because they have PLAYED against Denard.
I mean, when you play against a guy like Denard who shreds the defense for 200 yards on the ground by himself , isn't that going to cause the team to be ranked lower in run defense?
I'm not saying that any of the teams we have played are stout defenses, but I think that part of the reason that they are ranked where they are is in part to having played against Dilithium.
I can't wait for the next few weeks to see Dilithium run over teams that are ranked in the top 20 in run defense...
There was a diary kind of to this topic by myrtlebeachmaizenblue
Yes and I'm hoping that some of it comes on a TD run of at least 50 yards because that is just demoralizing (although I guess one could hypothetically console themselves by realizing that it was the best player in college football that did it to them, but I digress).
he'll have to
Only if he gets a 70-80 run.
Yards passing and about 80-100 on the ground.
but i see him snapping off 2-3 30-40 yd runs due to fast safeties cutting angles as opposed to him busting 2-3 80 yd tds. i'd be genuinely surprised if he went under 150 on the ground. but it will be a slow grind that will, wait for it...
KEEP THE DEFENSE OFF THE FIELD WHILE STILL SCORING TOUCHDOWNS
I'm not sure why so many posters are giving MSU's rush D so much respect. It didn't look very good against either ND or Wisconsin. MSU's defensive ranking is inflated by the fact that it's faced three terrible offenses (WMU, FAU and UNCO).
I think it'll be closer to 250 passing - 150 running. I'm guessing that our run success will be more balanced between Denard and the RBs.
If he breaks a long run then easily over 200, but realistically the running will be harder in this game. I don't think he will constantly gain 10-12 yards a carry. I do, however, think Denard will have his best passing game of the season. Even if he only goes 100/100, as long as M wins the game, I'll be stoked!
AccuScore predicts Denard to pass for 250 and run for 200
I'm thinking that his overthrows were due to him getting a little banged up. He was pretty crips on all his passes up untill the drive that Tate had to come in. I still have faith in his arm, so 200/200 is absolutely possible.
What most teams can not fathom is when they play against most team, a missed defensive assignment leads to a 20-25 yards play given up. With Michigan, adn yes especially Denard, 1 missed assignment leads to 6 points, period end of discussion. Denard makes you pay each and everytime 1 player makes 1 mistake on any given play.
