The guy flat out has a toe that is either broken or severely sprained.

I commented during the Syracuse game that you could see his lateral movement is severely compromised.

We can't be this stupid. Because Izzo's team is never responsible for anything, there's no such thing as a legitimate injury concern on any team, ever? That's just silly.

I think it showed Michigan's vulnerability off the dribble. NJIT was quick. Then again, they were also smoking hot in the second half. Hard to fault your defense completely for that result.

Beilein will learn from this and use it as a teaching tool. Sh!t happens. NJIT shot the lights out. We have to do a better job defending the perimeter when Spike and DW2* are in the game together.

*I'm not trying to be cool, I just can't remember how to spell his first name. Derek or Dereck or Derick?

Well at least we're a football sch....oh, never mind.

Michigan just can't have nice things. I don't know what this school did to piss off the sporting gods, but they are exacting their retribution upon us with a fiery vengeance. And they're enjoying it too.

This school needs Harbaugh in the worst way. We have absolutely nothing to be excited about right now.

Just posted this in the other thread, but...Basketball losses mean so much less and hurt so much less than in football. For many reasons, more games, each one means less, teaching moments are real things that can actually come from losses to bad teams without ruining the year. Most importantly, beacuase I know we have a very, very competent coaching staff.

We lost to Charlotte last year as well...then were a shot away from a return to the final four without our lottery pick center / most dominant returning player from the previous tournament. Trust in Beilein - things will turn out as well as they can. (And that is very comforting).

ahead except as a good learning lesson. This team outplayed Michigan on both ends of the floor and deserved the win. In the process, Michigan exposed itself as a team without any interior presence that gives up the baseline and rarely forced dribble-drivers to pass off before going all the way to the rim for easy layups.

Michigan rarely got any transition baskets and found nothing easy in the second half. The only reason it stayed in the game is because of LeVert's heroic performance. Irvin must score for thie team to win because LeVert won't be stopped and Walton and Spike usually provide balancing offense.

The freshmen got to give a better account of themselves or this team will be killed down low in the conference season.

Does everyone remember when number 1 Kentucky lost to an atrocious Indiana (2011)? It was a huge thing for Indiana, but Kentucky let it slide off their back and went on to be great. It happens. Move on.

I was there and we fucking had them.

If we just had someone coming off a screen (like Spike who inbounded) to receive the pass from Donnal after he got the baseball pass, I think we win that game.

I think that probably was the plan, but it wasn't well-executed.

The miss on the front end of that one on one was fatal.

All the sky is falling fans around here.  Yes this loss sucks, but it doesn't mean that the season is over.  Not much you can do when a team shoots that high of a percentage on some contested threes.  Young team coming off a big win, let's see how they do next week against Arizona and just accept this is not a final four team.

Beilein's team always improve. We lost to Charlotte around this time last year and still made the Elite 8

This game was massively annoying, but thats about all I'm taking from it

Shooting like they did today, NJIT would have beat a lot of teams. They just could not miss down the stretch.

this year's Duke team is a totally different animal, but in past years, how do you think they suffered some horrible, surprising losses?

Because with what we've got at the moment, in a game where the other team shoots the lights out and we suddenly can't shoot - once in a blue moon this happens.

You'll finish in the top 3-4 in the BIG... OSU lost to Toledo the year they offically didn't go the Final Four with Michael Redd and Scoonie Penn

At least we aren't UCONN
They won the national championship last year and just lost to Yale. Their football team lost to winless SMU and their women's basketball team is losing.

YES. EVERYONE RELAX. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT MICHIGAN WANTS YOU TO DO.

No but seriously, relax. We will be okay down the stretch. Losses like these tend to refocus a team. Now Spike knows he can't foul out. And Irvin knows he can't disappear for a game. And the Freshman have seen back door cuts.

We have to give this team time to grow. A blip along the way is just a learning moment at this stage. You don't win conference titles in early December. And you can't lose them either.

Beilein got it guys.

I'm just disappointed that they played so lackadaisacal and ran no offensive sets and made no effort to stay in front of their man on defense.  They thought they could sleepwalk through this game and win easily, which is what disappoints me the most.  This is a horrible loss that they'll have to live with on their resume this year.

If the game was going to come down to the last minute, it's not such a terrible thing that we lost. For one, Beilein can take a lot of things from this game and turn them into teaching points. And for two, the players should be humbled and realize that not every team is going to lay down for them

And a loss like that will at best cost us a couple seeds in the tournament and at worst could put us on the bubble if conference play becomes a struggle.

Oh wow just saw this - been distracted (follow Butler more during bball season).  This is like App State, but the difference is this is basketball.  It was effort not talent based.  This might be just what Belien needs to get the most out of this team for the remainder of the season.  Or, it could be the start of a dumpster fire season.

My recommendation is drink and drink often.  Maybe Santa puts a Harbaugh under the tree and we can just forget 2014 ever happened.

there is no such thing as an App State game in basketball.

Not even if you're #1 and have a horrible loss. Still not nearly as bad.

We'd be laughing our ass off if it was Izzo - and hey, they can think all they want, but that guy is on the downswing -

but this is just what it is.

Horrible, embarrassing, not a big deal if it's a one off, yes, not helpful if getting in comes down to the wire, but not humiliating at all.

It's a 12 oclock start in December after a big game and before a huge game.

Upsets happen. They shot the lights out against us and we came out flat. Definitely embarrassing but not a big deal. Hopefully our young guys learned a valuable lesson today.

Yes, we should just relax. Yeah, these losses sting, but they happen to many good teams. Winning conference games is the most important thing. Win the Big Ten again and they're a top-three seed.

In 2011 (same year as our first B1G title since forever), we barely squeaked by an abysmal Western Illinois team. About 2 months before our final four run in 2013, we lost to a winless ( in conference, I believe) PSU team. The sky hasn't fallen, not yet.
