DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN
DO NOT let this shit happen again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E5gPKBD_tM
If you have tickets to The Game:
- Go to The Game and support your team,
- Use the MGoBoard ticket spreadsheet, or
- If you are a member of the UM Alumni Association, use their new ticket exchange: http://alumni.umich.edu/join/members-only?dest=/members/ticket-exchange
We have 99% of the tickets, don't be the traitor who supports the enemy to make a quick buck. It is not worth it. Every M fan in the stadium makes a positive difference and every ohio fan makes a big negative difference. Only you can prevent this.
And how many times have we ruined their hopes with a great upset? Why not witness another one?
The Seniors and Juniors on Team 134 deserve and need our support for their last game at Michigan Stadium versus ohio. Don't let them down.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:15 PM ^
+infinity.
Go to The Game. Root for Michigan. Fuck Ohio State.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:16 PM ^
I was guilty of this in 2005.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
I couldn't agree more. I do, tend to disagree that EVERY Michigan fan makes a positive difference because I have sat next to many a fan that do nothing the entire game but watch. I really wish we had a more rowdy fan base. Seems like the two UTL games produced a much "better" crowd in terms of noise and effect on the opposition. Obviously there are some factors (alcohol + more time - old people) that play into it but I'd like to see our crowd have a huge impact on games.
I wish our 12th man was Seattle Seahawks worthy, or texas A&M where everyone takes pride in being super loud.
We have terrific fans. They just are not loud enough.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:03 PM ^
So as someone who has been a part of the 12th man in Seattle, the fans are not great people. Sure they're loud as fuck (seriously), but they're huge d-bags. They fight (as in unprovoked fisticuffs) for no reason other than wearing the wrong color. Seriously, I saw a fight go down during the second half of an PRESEASON game when the Hawks were up 30. Who fights in those situations? Honestly, they're like Ohio fans.
Does it look good and sound good? Sure. But do you really want the Michigan stadium crowd to get the same reputation as an Ohio type crowd, personality and hospitality-wise? Do you want people to come to Ann Arbor, watch a game, fear for their lives, and then leave, thinking all the while that they are better off for being able to leave the anus of the universe?
Me neither. Let's not sell our souls for some noise.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:13 PM ^
Just based on what UM stands for I don't think It would ever get that bad here. I would not want it to become a free for all but 115,000 is supposed to sound intimidating and force serious communication issues.
November 19th, 2013 at 8:56 PM ^
Being loud does not equal being a huge douche. How hard is it to make noise when the players motion for you to make noise?
November 20th, 2013 at 12:00 AM ^
The fans of Nebraska disagree with your thesis that either you can (a) have a loud stadium full of jerks or (b) Michigan Stadium. There are happy mediums - people always go to extremes.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:01 PM ^
Right on man, I have been saying this for a while. We are not live at all during games. imagine what 115,000 could do if we were the 12th man! It makes a huge difference imo.
November 20th, 2013 at 1:18 PM ^
I'll blame Borges if it happens this year!
November 19th, 2013 at 8:24 PM ^
Kyle field gets insanely loud. Heck, we tell during time outs so the opposing team has no chance to communicate.
Go to The Game, yell, and get in Braxton's head.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:20 PM ^
If you can't go to The Game, at least make sure your tickets go to a Michigan fan.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:21 PM ^
Sold mine to a fellow alumnus!
November 19th, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
All my tickets are set for use by M alums and myself.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
A win this weekend will be a big help. I'm worried how much red there will be if (when?) we lose and the offense can't score a TD
November 19th, 2013 at 5:23 PM ^
I was at this game it was hard to see that much red!
November 19th, 2013 at 5:23 PM ^
Was awful. Tried to leave a few minutes early because I felt sick listening to it, but couldn't get out up the stairs because too many other people had the same idea.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:24 PM ^
Thank you students for not being the cause of this. And thank you students for not selling your tickets to Nebraska fans. And thank you students for ruining ohio's chant at the big house. Since our alumnis sat there and did nothing or sold their ticks to a Jalen rose "fuckeye"
November 19th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
I take it, from what I make of your barely-literate post, that you somehow blame alumni (that is already a plural, sport; no need to add an 's' to make it plural) for the appearance of Michigan Stadium during the 2009 OSU game. You seem to think it was all due to faithless "alumnis" who sold their tickets to OSU fans.
I don't know where you got that idea. You probably just made it up. It isn't true. You are wrong.
The fact is that in 2009, the Michigan Athletic Department was in the midst of a large ticket-banking program; preparing for the wholesale seat re-numbering and aisle-widening projects in connection with the Stadium renovation. Thousands of banked tickets which could not be sold as regular subscrption season tickets were instead sold as package, single-game or special temporary season tickets. Those tickets were snapped up by brokers and resold on the open market.
This story -- the true background on the '09 game -- has been explored many times at MGoBlog, by myself among others. You apparently weren't paying attention. That scene from the '09 game was not repeated in 2011. Not because the '09 team sucked and the '11 team was great. Rather, it was because the reconfiguration of the main bowl had been completed for the 2010 seaon and by '11 settled into permanent season ticket subscriptions.
Before you go off acting snotty again in the future, I suggest that you make certain you know what you are talking about.
November 19th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
I had forgotten about that, but yes I remember now
November 19th, 2013 at 9:47 PM ^
....EVAR.
November 19th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
It's a low bar.
November 19th, 2013 at 10:30 PM ^
Thanks for keeping this little corner of the internet honest. Why let facts get in the way of a good post, eh?
November 20th, 2013 at 12:28 PM ^
It's so tiresome to have people trot out the 2009 game as "proof" that selling your ticket automatically allows the rival to overwhelmingly invade your home field. Tickets up for sale get bought up just as much by home fans as away fans., and even if the rival fans scoop up a percentage higher than 50% of the 4000 or so tickets floating around for sale, it's not like they're all going to be concentrated in one section of the stadium where they will feel comfortable being obnoxious. I've been to many an Ohio State game and there is always a couple of Buckeye fans sprinkled around my section, and they pretty much keep quiet.
You don't want Ohio fans making hay in your stadium? Stand up and cheer louder than them. There will be more of us than there will be of them. I guarantee it.
Note to coaches: You can assist in this effort by exceeding expectations and having the team be competitive in this game.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:24 PM ^
is any indication, there will be plenty of red. There have been 2-4 thousand tickets available every week since the beginning of the season
November 19th, 2013 at 5:42 PM ^
If you like Michigan football enough to have season tickets, why would you sell off the biggest home game of the season? Especially since most of them end up in the hands of Bucknuts. You don't see similar seas of Maize in their stadium on away years, in fact the whole thing is red
November 19th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
Thanksgiving weekend. And this year, I believe, the beginning of Passover. You're preaching to the choir here re: selling tix to Buckeyes, (I don't even trust the spreadsheet, selling 2 for my mom at face value), but I do know some people need to be with family that weekend....
November 19th, 2013 at 7:01 PM ^
lol, Hanukkah
November 19th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
Hanukkah! My sister would not be happy with me for that faux pas.
November 20th, 2013 at 1:52 AM ^
considered selling them myself. The 2 seats to my right in my section and row are asking for $200. I'd consider that since it would reduce my overall season ticket costs for next year.
but, I will be there to see us beat the Buckeyes.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:26 PM ^
I just hope it's not already too late.
The back-to-back losses to MSU and Nebraska may have caused some fair-weather fans to ticket dump for cash without much thought to what happened back in 2009 game.
If I wasn't already visiting family that weekend I'd definitely go. Would love to go to a UM-Ohio game.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:27 PM ^
Sorry, can't justify driving from cbus to watch this product...and don't know any other M fans.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:04 PM ^
-1
You suck.
Eh, you probably don't and are probably a good person, but I deride your decision making in this instance.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:24 PM ^
That's probably the reason you have -99794 points.
November 19th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
can we give him an even -100,000???
November 19th, 2013 at 10:54 PM ^
I was up to about 300 when I accidentally double posted the Ace Williams "transfergate" article pretty much simultaneously with someone else a few weeks ago...that’s when the bomb was dropped.
In all honesty the thought of selling them on here didn't even occur to me at the time, I will certainly remember in the future.
November 19th, 2013 at 8:00 PM ^
Wouldn't drive from Chelsea to see the same plays that have driven me nuts since the PSU game. Shoot, I was predicting the plays they would run and the number of yards they were going to lose in the 4th quarter of the Nebraska game. Totally unacceptable. Major issues way beyond OL and QB. We're talking major division and turmoil on this team, and Hoke doesn't know what to do about it. Serious, serious problems. Listening to Hoke on the pre-game show before the NU game, he's delusional. I've never seen a team do the things this team is doing. Week after week, and no change. It's the most insane thing I've seen in Michigan football since richrod's defenses. And I've been following M football for almost 50 years.
November 19th, 2013 at 10:00 PM ^
You shittin me, Clark?
November 19th, 2013 at 5:27 PM ^
I'll be there, as will my wife for her first football game ever.
November 19th, 2013 at 5:31 PM ^
Thanks for posting this. I can't make the game and want to get my tickets into proper (blue) hands.
November 19th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
Read this blog and go into the spreadsheet and buy tickets?
November 19th, 2013 at 9:01 PM ^
WON'T SELL to non-mgoblog people though
November 20th, 2013 at 11:42 AM ^
So I need to research my potential buyers? Ok...I've got a pair of tickets in Sec 42, Row 46 (non-student...they're my season ticket seats) as I can't make THE GAME. The spreadsheet got mostly deleted it seems. If your screen name is WoodyTastesLikeCandy or PromoteTressel or HeartSpeilmanForever, I won't sell to you.
November 20th, 2013 at 12:16 PM ^
And they'll know that because we force every buyer to click a "I Confirm I am a Michigan Fan" button?
That's like saying making people click the "I Am Over 18" button prevents underage adolescents from getting onto porn sites.
November 20th, 2013 at 12:35 PM ^
- unless they had a @umich.edu accoun
- unless you can confirm their identity on MGoBlog
- if they ask you to mail them to anywhere in ohio
November 20th, 2013 at 3:12 PM ^
Onto what porn sites....?
November 19th, 2013 at 10:04 PM ^
I was just about to go make a post requesting tickets. /s
November 20th, 2013 at 10:42 PM ^
Damnit, they're onto us!
November 19th, 2013 at 5:33 PM ^
Fortunately, Thanksgiving is actually on Thanksgiving this year, so with my Saturday now clear and without any need for me to explain my way out of family events (wife's family couldn't care less about football, which is a bone of contention around this time of the year), I will be cheering on the Wolverines barring catastrophe.
November 19th, 2013 at 6:19 PM ^
Well if they could care less, then clearly they care some.
