Do the four snipers on top of the press boxes make anyone else nervous?

Did anyone else notice these guys? Two on top of each 'new' press box. Dressed up like snipers from a chuck norris movie. Binoculars, cameras, etc...up there, the works. Constantly checking guys in the crowd out, planes overhead. can't lie and say that didn't make me nervous today...along with the huge ALERT - no purses/bags today signs.

The small plane that was circling the stadium all day made me more worried than the snipers. hell, the snipers have been there most of the season, i'm getting used to them.

That was the coolest flyover I've seen in 3 years here. They were really low, and smokin' it over the Big House. It looked like they had the afterburners on. Speaking of flyovers, does anyone know HOW the pilots get back to the game??? Like, where do they land, and how do they get here SO fast? The only thing I can think of would be Metro... And, wasn't the small plane for aerial shots? Although, it did seem weird that it was there shortly after the flyover, and the whole 'no fly zone' thing...

I always wondered that too. They must fly over, land somewhere in Michigan, and then their fellow pilots take the birds back to South Carolina where the base is. I would then assume that they would get choppered into AA somewhere?

They landed at an air national guard base by Jackson and then got driven in. They definitely had the afterburners on all the way through the city (they stayed low over the University) because they thought it would be fun for the folks on the ground. It was awesome.

I've subbed a few times as an usher this year and when I was in section 1 for the Indiana game, the WC sherriff came by and we asked about them being snipers (first game there was a "no bag" policy) and he told us that they do not have rifles up there. While they are definately keeping an eye in things, they aren't 'snipers'

They aren't snipers. And there have been people (I think they are State Police) on top of the old press box for about 10 or 20 years, and they are there as observers and also to be up there incase anybody who is unauthorized tries to go up there. There are standing, after all, on top of a giant 50,000 sqaure foot construction project.

They've been there all season. The no-bags-whatsoever rule has been in place for about half of this season; prior to that you could only carry a small bag (5x8 inches) into the stadium.
