the DL vs Wiscy.. who to play/where

So, just read the UFR. Patterson seems to be competent at NT against Purdue.

I realize this means little with respect to Wiscy, but I feel I would be remiss to not think about the possiblities..

Sageese and Banks are marginal players in my opinion, few mistakes few outstanding plays... So. the question is.

Do we chance a shaded 4 man front with Patterson at NT/DT, Martin at the 3 tech and RVB at the strong DE and Roh at the weak? I really feel against Wiscy that key will be limiting 1st down plays to less than 3 yards (dont have stats but im guessing they run alot).. if they gash us there consistently, well be in serious trouble. We don't have the foot-speed to recover on playaction.

Alternatively, you could put RVB at the weak DE, Martin at the Strong and Patterson at NT with Roh with his hand on the ground for a 3-3-5 look of sorts.

So, who do we start/switch to, and how do we react if Wiscy is pushing us around.

I'm sure

the coaches are thinking up something to slow their running game, but Tolzien torched us last year.

The key, regardless of personnel on Defense, is getting up by 14 or more, EARLY and taking WI out of their game.

That means no TOs.  We have almost done this 3x this year.

I'm hoping this is the game to start...

Yeah I agree. It comes down

Yeah I agree. It comes down to HANGING ON TO THE DAMN BALL! But we really need to get in there and get a TO or two on defense. I would love to see Roh break through and force a fumble right at the handoff again.

If we can get some pressure, I'm hoping that Tolzien will break down a little bit and make some iffy throws. But Denard needs to be able to run and throw the ball consistently and not make iffy throws himself.

To answer the question from the OP. Really I just hope MM is able to go the whole game. If not, we may have some trouble stopping Wiscy's run game. Patterson / Banks / Sagesse are serviceable, but I don't think they can do enough against Wiscy's behemoth OL and RBs. Who knows though, that's why you play the game. Just remember too, Wiscy has had a ton of trouble playing in The Big House, a la 2008.

wonder if

the Q makes an appearance?

but you are correct the key to stopping their running game is to disrupt their game planning.  I am sure they believe they will be close/up the entire game and able to grind out 5 yard runs to their hearts content

It would be nice to see...

a "big" 4 man front (some combo of Martin, RVB, Roh, Peterson, Q) with three big LB's behind them (some combo of Mouton, Fitz, Demens, Obi, Moundros).

beef line!

Beef line all the way! RVB, MM, Q, Roh.  With Wisconsin's 6 foot 7 325lb monster tackle in Gabe Camiri looking to lock down the left side.  Hopefully schematic wise we can get that big ot tired.

Gotta do some blitzing

Otherwise those mammoths are likely to keep Tolzien clean.
