DJ Wilson with a great game tonight in NBA Summer League
Watching DJ Wilson getting it done for the Bucks in the Summer League against the Clippers. Knocking down 3s, looking smooth on both ends of the court, 15 points at the half (edited point total - oops!).
He has 15 points (on 6/9 shooting), 5 rebounds, and 2 assists at halftime. He has the kind of dynamic game that fits better in the NBA.
I'm glad he'll be on a playoff contender. I think he and Caris LeVert can eventually develop into NBA All-Stars.
Definitely looking really good. He's been WIDE open on a number of occasions in transition in the paint too.
I see, I mixed up the Wilsons ! 12 points for the Clippers Wilson who is looking also good.
can gather his 3 pt shot instead of rushing it through, he'll be a high end starting SG for a long time. He's already dynamic at PnR, iso and mid range jumper. His shooting will come considering he shot over 40% for his career from 3 pt line.
17 pts / 7 rebounds
Had a botched pass, but still good and the focus of the gamecast so far. They show him even when on the bench and chat about how good he's doing.
an air ball and getting abused in the paint. It wasn't all great, but the Bucks aren't going to need him to start this year just be a someone who can come in and give valuable rest to the starters. DJ has plenty of time to learn and get stronger.
I don't pay too much attention to the NBA. Who plays in the Summer League? Is it just new players in the league?
we support our players when they are here and after they leave.
hope he kills it in the Association. Another solid example of Beilein's ability to spot talent and then get kids to the next level. Boy, he and Mo would have absolutely crushed this year if he'd stayed.
makes the player?
He should have played more in 15-16 when we were playing Duncan 30+ (!!!) minutes a game despite him not even shooting that well, and being an absolute matador on defense. Beilein would probably be the first to admit that he botched that badly by favoring a slightly better offensive player over a dramatically better defensive player.
Obviously you don't actually watch Michigan basketball games. DJ was terrible before this past year, constantly lost on both offense AND defense.
No, it just epitomizes why he didn't play (and he got hurt and was sidelined most of the year). So, your "2 years" claim already out the window there. As for Soph year, there's no way he was a defensive upgrade. Revisionist history. Every game he had over ten minutes he had foul trouble. Couldn't play 15-20 consistently even had JB given him the run. But sure.
and who you're responding to. I didn't make the first comment about 2 years. You replied to blueinohio with a gif of one play from early in his freshman year as supposed evidence that he wasn't ready to play more until his third year, which like, is ridiculous.
I claim he didn't play enough in the 2015-16 season. He had four fouls in one game, and three fouls in two games that year. That was the extent of his "foul trouble" His lack of playing time was not the result of being in foul trouble. His foul rate, while relatively high at 6.2/40 min, was right about what a lot of shot blocking bigs that play 20 min a game commit. And his block rate of 8.7 was stellar.
He was a better defender than Duncan, by a significant margin, by the eye test and by Drtg (Sports Reference).
When Caris went down, and Duncan became ineffective in conference play, the season should have turned developmental to get DJ accelerated earlier. He clearly had the best physical skills on the team, had a nice shot (always did) and had a ton of potential. Again, I bet Beilein would be the first to say he probably should have played DJ 10 more minutes a game that season.
