DJ Williamson no longer on roster at MGoBlue.com

Submitted by Frank Drebin on

I was just looking over the roster and noticed that DJ Williamson was no longer listed. CC and Vinopal are also both gone, so this has been updated since their transfers. I know that there were many rumors circulating, but I hadn't seen it confirmed that he had left the program. Does anyone know when this happened or if it was even announced? It looks like you can chalk up one more available scholarship for the 2012 MegaClass.

I didn't see any other names missing, but Hoke did say he expects more attrition. Look it over and see if you notice any more names missing.

Rumored, but it was never confirmed:

"DEFINITELY NOT BONUS: I don't have a second source on this one so file this under strong rumor, but DJ Williamson is also supposed to be on the way out."

Don't know how to block quote, but thats from post above.

I saw this, but just as Brian said, he had only heard a rumor and up until recently he was still listed on the roster. When Vinopal and CC left, both were confirmed by all recruiting sites and on this site as well. No one has said anything on here other than there is a rumor he may be leaving.

APR data is scheduled to be released soon, I believe the 24th (of May). I could be wrong on the exact date, but I know it will be released within the next month.

Good luck to Williamson wherever he goes.

Then it is a huge worry, if he just he transfering but left with good grades then it's just a small worry.  Either way, I wish Michigan didn't have to worry about these sorts of things.

And good luck to DJ if this is true, wish it would have worked out.

The biggest hit to the APR is likely to come from Tate Forcier, if the rumors are true that Miami decided not to admit him once they saw his Michigan transcript. Evidence is:

[1] He was ruled ineligible for the Gator Bowl, so that's not just smoke, but fire.

[2] There were enough hints in the various statements by Tate and his father to indicate that he wanted to be allowed to make up missed work in more than one class. They also indicate that the AD refused to get involved, which I take as another sign that it was an academic issue.

Put 1 and 2 together and I'll guess at least two Fs. If it was a single prof refusing to accommodate him, Tate would have been all over that.

Since this has been the Bizarro Michigan the last few years, and we've transferred from an offensive minded coach to a defensive minded coach, does this mean the AMHG is going to target our WR's now?  After this year we lose Stonum, Hemingway, and Odoms.  That leaves us with Roundtree as a senior and a bunch of guys who have never played more than a couple snaps.

Well, the AMHG has already struck his vengence on Stonum with a DUI and possible long term suspension. Hell, maybe he will be suspended the whole year and given a redshirt year, providing us a little room at WR and only causing us to lose Odoms, Hemingway and Grady.

This post is exactly why I thought we should have taken Devin Lucien for this year, and why I think that WR is a much bigger priority than the staff and the fan base think it should be.  Withour current roster+commits, 2013 and beyond looks like a wasteland at the WR position.

We have quite a few wide receivers on scholarship.  If the staff, which has the chance to view them in practice (unlike us), deems that position sufficiently filled, I'm inclined to agree with them.  I mean sure, the guys behind Rountree/Stonum/Hemingway/Odoms haven't produced much, but have they had a chance to?

the compassion and concern for the kid's well-being flowing from the posts asking for revised scholarship numbers and penciling in recruits to take his spot?

Good luck with everything, DJ.

EDIT: The fact that this post was immediately marked "Flamebait" is solid proof that the quality of commenters on this board has dropped significantly over the past few years (and exponentially, recently).

My voting system isn't even enabled most of the time.  I guess that raises the quality of the voting and keeps me from having to worry about how to make it work.  Sounds like everybody wins.

Calling people out for saying stupid things is not flaming.  I doubt you'd mark it flamebait if I called people out for using o$u (the TSIO shit is bad enough, imo) or Spartina or whatever else some of these new super clever posters come up with.  I don't comment very often but when I see the board turning in to MLive I call out the MLive-ness.  It doesn't accomplish anything but it makes me feel better.

Of course I expect the dipshit posters that caused the post in the first place to downvote it--but the post went from 1 or 2 to -1 very quickly and stayed there till my edit.  The fact that the post could stay at -1 for any amount of time tells me something about the overall quality of the posters.

And yes, I realize there are people like you out there that follow me around and downvote everything I post for some reason.

Is the sensitive NANCY nature of this board that everything and everyone is a troll or flaming.

Man, what an incredible pile of crap this message board has become. Over moderated, sissy points, no sense of discourse, no diagreement allowed.

But oh yeah, parrot to death the neat little euphemisms Brian comes up with and get pos-banged to the heights of posting glory!

While I agree with your sentiment to some extent, I disagree with your way of broaching the subject.  You are often quite negative, which provides a new viewpoint to the discussion, and I often enjoy reading your posts, but verbally attacking sitegoers will get you nowhere.  If you don't like the quality of this message board, there are aways others you can visit.

Because he signed up to play football for one coach and that coach got fired. He transferred because of a coaching change (something out of his control), not because he dislikes the Michigan community.

Although I guess we should probably hope everyone who transfers from Michigan has no luck and wish bad things to happen to them.

no idea but i just moderated this "interesting" (there really need to be different options so you can moderate something just to indicate you were thinking the same thing) and it turned you from 1 Normal to 1 Trolling.

I tried to +1 (Insightful) you but I guess the stench of flamebait is not something easily alleviated. However, I'm not sure that having a couple people mark your comment flamebait is solid proof that the quality of the board has dropped. There are, and always will be, ignorant people, and the limited moderation categories aren't helping things.

Not saying people negging this particular poster are ignorant, just that there are going to be people who disagree with a certain viewpoint, regardless of its valildity, and auto-mark it flamebait or trolling. I can certainly see how someone could see this comment as flaming but I personally wouldn't.
