Kevin Grady was a 5-star running back (according to both Scout and Rivals) coming out of high school. He had a sub-4.5 40 and was built like a brick shithouse. On paper, his stats made him look like the perfect combination of Brandon Minor and Carlos Brown--a fast back that could pound the ball.
His freshman year, Grady had 121 carries for 483 yards and 5 touchdowns (4.0 yards per carry), and 14 receptions for 113 yards. Not a bad start. However, in his final three years of playing he had only 79 carries and 6 receptions.
The obvious question is: what happened? KG seemed to be such a promising prospect, and he was fairly productive during his freshman year. I recall him being the heir apparent to Mike Hart. So, why was he essentially relegated to the scout team for his final three years of playing?
