Dish Network drops BTN. M game not on Dish today.

Submitted by wolverine2003 on

Woke up to no signal from BTN on Dish Network.  Checked Btn.com and it says "Despite BTN's best efforts to finalize an agreement with DISH, we are disappointed to tell you that DISH decided to drop BTN. DISH customers will miss all 8 BTN matchups today. Find another BTN provider at IWantBTN.com."

If you have DISH...look elsewhere today.  I am heading to Buffalo Wild Wings.

First lady tried to lowball with 1 month free showtime. I asked for customer loyalty and got him to give me $10/month off for a year, free showtime, hbo and Cinemax for 3 months, and 7 free ppv movies (useless since I have Netflix but free nonetheless). I already had the full sports package.

I was able to get $15 month off the bill for a year and six months of the sports package.  And I am not under contract still so if they don't figure this out soon I can still bolt. I was able to get this thru the chat customer service of the website.

Thanks for the advice.  My wife just got off the phone with Dish and, after getting a fabulous initial offer of $5 off our bill for three whole months, we got the 10 bucks off for the next 12 months.  Small consolation, but at least we were able to get something out of those pricks.

The customer service agent thinks the impasse will be over within the next 24 hours.  We'll see.

Step 1: Find an actual *sports bar* in Seattle (not as easy as you might think)

Step 2: Go to said sports bar to watch UM decimate UMass

Step 3: Go home and order Direct TV

Step 6: Donate PROFIT to #Hope for Pahokee

Step 7: Receive autographed "#Eating" t-shirt from Martavious Odoms

Step 8: Place autographed shirt in safe deposit box

Step 9: Wait 133 years

Step 10: Have shirt appraised at $496,000 on Antiques Roadshow

Step 11: Go to Las Vegas

Step 12: Find roulette wheel; bet $496,000 on number 16, win, repeat 21 times

Step 13: Use massive winnings to purchase controlling interest in DISH Network

Step 14: Issue public apology to B1G fans & re-up with BTN asap

Yeah, if I had more time that's where I'd be going.  But I live in Beacon Hill and have some other stuff I gotta do today in the south end, so I'm going to catch the game at lame Rookies.  I might pop into Empire Espresso though and see if they will show it there.  The co-owner is a big Michigan guy.

Wall Street Journal last month picked Dish as the #1 worst company in America to work for. They are owned by Charlie Ergen, a billionaire with a rep for being an SOB who makes company employees share rooms on biz trips. They have a horrible rep as dirty contract partners and have been sanctioned by many courts for violations of court rules.

Why anyone would use them, I have no idea. Dont encourage these scumbags. Fire them.

I have UVerse as well and have never had an issue.  Great customer service, too.  I do have a related problem, though.  I have to travel for work and will be on the road during the ND game (i.e., in the car, not in a hotel).  I've had similar issues before and have settled for espn's game track on my phone or something similar.  Anyone know a good app/website I could use to stream the game on my phone?  Even if it's just play by play, I'd be happy to listen in the car.  Suggestions?

DirectTV more expensive. I had them for 4-5 years and each year price went up.

Dish lower prices and more price levels. Have had them 3 years and no price increase. The people who get excited about Sunday Ticket apparently are loaded as I lack the $300 extra for football games that you can only watch one game at a time. Dish offers the redone channel for $9 and it shows every score.

I don't pay for anything . . . no cable, no dish, no satellite, no u-verse. I just use an antenna and pick up ABC, NBC, & Fox. The local bar a block away covers a bunch of games on ESPN. Streaming off the internet gets some. A friend gets others. And there is a bar further away (about 2 miles) that has the BTN. The money I save on no fees more than pays for the bar and for tickets to go to more games live.

I was a Dish customer from 2005-2010 and loved it. Their DVR was/is top of the line. I left when they started refusing to negotiate new deals with me and it looks like I got out just in time. They are a mess.

Everyone is talking about how cheap dish/directv are? How much do you guys pay? I've got Verizon FIOS and pay about $105 a month for 75/25 internet, TV that includes more channels than I care to watch, Showtime and Cinemax, HD DVR.

Just switched from Dish to Direct. I switched from my cable company to dish almost 2 years ago and went from paying about $110 to around $50. The second half of my contract year it went to about $80. I had all the same services DVR, HD, 2 TVs, but I got the sports package NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Redzone BTN, NBCsports, etc. After seeing Dish drop another channel I switched to Direct today and got the same package plus Sunday ticket this year free for 45.99 for the first 12 months and 69.99 for months 13-24. So yeah I saved a good chunk by switching it cost me 140 to get out of my last 8 months with Dish but it seems worth it.

Michael (ID: IPR): DISH has no interest in satisfying [Big Ten's] demands. We will hold the line against attempts at profiteering
We hope [Big Ten] will embrace reasonable attitudes about price increases and viewer habits, so we can keep those channels on DISH.

I have been with Dish for over a decade. I just called and complained, and was offered the "Half off movie channels for 6 months"  This was a regular rep I was talking to. I then said, that I would be looking at going to direct tv or cable. I was then transferred to a service rep in the loyalty dept. I was given a $10 credit for the next 24 months.

...I just got back from a long day on the road.   I was ready to sit down and watch the UM-UMass game in HD glory on my Dish DVR recording.

FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU DISH NETWORK!!!!!

Ruined my day.   I had even refrained from looking at the score on the iPhone all afternoon and early evening, so I was blissfully ignorant of what transpired at the Big House.   I can't even currently watch Wisconsin struggling against Utah St.
